Thank you for your comment Robert. Knowing what others think helps us to understand better what we should make videos of and what we should show. Thanks again , Joe.

Great content again! What material are you using to build up your crankshafts?

Hi Kelly, I use drill rod for the shaft and crank pin . For the web it makes no difference. That one was 12L14 because I had it, but hot roll or any cold rolled is fine.

      If I may suggest...?
holding round thing in a vice (the way you do it st 5:00) is asking for trouble
If your vice opens wide enough? I would use vee block on fixed jaw side
to give you three point location
Probably not serious issue for just drilling a hole, but.... 👍

Thank you for your comment. I usually use that method if I’m taking a serious cut or a cut when the cutting will be likely to turn the part. But you have a good point, I should not use short cuts on the videos. It looks bad. Joe

      @@larryortman358 Hi Larry,
That engine is The Mill Engine #2 by Doug Kelly. The plan was never published.
I have a set and if you are really serious keep in touch. I am trying to find a way to publish them but I need Dough to okay it.
Also you should know that this is not a beginner type engine, have you built other engines from bar stock?

@@JoesModelEngines I am a beginner at this. I have built several rifles from the ground up. Was a certified welder for years. Do you recommend another to get me started. Silver soldered many bolt handles on rifles.

I just finished your hand tapper you made in your video. I built my own 2 x72 belt sander. It works great.

@@larryortman358 If you have built rifles you must be a fairly good machinist. I think you be able to build the engine ok but there are no instructions at all just a plan .See if you can contact me by email and I’ll try to send you a part of the plan for the mill engine. That way you can see if you feel comfortable with the plan. Jhig5@maine.rr.com
Don’t copy paste the email. You will have to write it down and type it in.
