Huge difference, the white isn't an inferno on our feet! -Cait

Ótimas Festas pra Vocês, Uma linda Família, Parabéns. Falamos desde o Brasil. Quero comprar um Catamarã de Alumínio também... Quem sabe nos veremos por ai algum dia. Grande Abraço e Feliz Natal
Wow, 60 down to 45 is a burn in a few seconds to lots of minutes. Bet that also helps with the interior temp. Hope you had a decent hiding spot for that weather down there? Seems like it was better up here, lol
The temp difference is noticeable and makes a big difference down below! The white is especially noticeable on the bare foot standing on it compared to the oatmeal brown. We are at GKI for the blow - really beautiful here and lots to do and see! How is Cairns heat going? Will you and Lisa be in spending Christmas there? 🎄 -Cait
Light grey is a great deck colour, it reduces glare and looks awesome against the moroon colour. Get a pair of Bluetooth headsets, I use them, absolutely marriage savers and functional. Great vlog family. Boat is just sensational, jobs very well done. Have a fabulous Xmas, New Year. Love and respect 🇦🇺💯😁💙💚💛
He definitely is 🥰 We're very stoked with all the modifications and how well she is handling and preforming. Very happy! Next week's episode we let her stretch her legs! -Cait
A terrific area to hang around, the Whitsundays. You're lucky to have a guide who knows the place. I hope that paint cools your poor feet. White's a good color but it won't let you slack off with cleaning lol.
Thank you Frank! We will need to scrub the decks a bit more often but happy to compromise a little scrubbing for my little Piggys to stay cool 😆 the white side of the boat is immensely cooler than the oatmeal grey! Wishing you a very merry Christmas! -Cait
Cheers Jo, it's been so long now we may have to get somewhere with water again to re pressure wash them first. It was good to have all the rain as we haven't had to get anywhere to top up on water though. -sam
I have been through this process. It is possible to go light grey and only lose 5% reflectivity. There are also modern paints with high reflectivity which might be 20% more reflective than plain white which makes a real difference to interior temperature.
Thanks for the tip! We'll be looking into different colours and reflectivity for our next coat of paint. There is this paint that they use on roofing that can reduce heat by %50 but it doesn't wear well and seemingly it is super hard to keep clean. We may try it on the cabin top as we don't go up there often. If you could suggest any it would be greatly appreciated! With all out running round on the decks we estimate that we will be repainting in about 2 yrs. -sam
i like the white, it will look crisp and clean. the brown is good for hiding dirt but the temperature of the decks doesnt seem worth it to me to have brown decks where the white is showing to be a lot cooler plus i like the look of the white
Yeah we're loving the white too, not only because it's cool but it really cleans up the look of the boat! Can't wait to get it all painted. We have had alot of rain here so hopefully get it done in the next couple of weeks. -sam
How unfinished was your boat. I've seen I think all of the outside work but not the inside. The inside looked like there was a lot of spray foam exposed. Have you covered it all up with wood and such yet? Yeah, that white paint sure makes a difference. Are you planning on having three different colors of canvas or will you be going with one color?
Hi Rob, How unfinished was our boat is a matter of opinion, some people would sa that its ready to go but in my opinion she still needs a bit of work. As you can see from the outside improvements she was a bit agricultural. On the inside there is no roof lining in the hulls, no working water maker, baldders for water tanks, only one toilet with no holding tank (other option is a porta pottie), apart from the outo pilot to consistently working electronics, no lining around any windows and the list goes on. We do plan on making all the sails have red uv strip's so there will be 2 colours, I think so any way Cait is in charge of all aesthetics 😉. -sam
Thank you Colin, Merry Christmas to you too! We certainly will keep the dream alive! GREATLY appreciate you and we always look forward to seeing your comments 🎄❤️ -Cait
Kings and BCF Sups can be trickier to stand up on compared to solid sups. I experienced that myself. Mates laughing at me cos I couldnt stand up very well.. Then tried their solid boards and it was easy.. They tried my inflatable and had more difficulty. Sam, the problem is exaggerated for us good looking blokes who carry a few extra kilos....urm .. insulation. But thats why Sup yoga looks so easy.. Better boards.
Oh wow I was wondering if i was a. It heavy for the board. Last weight in i was 117kg so I guess there's a bit of insulation there lol. I might look into a soled one then. It's a super fun sport and one of the sups has failed already so we may need to replace it. Cheers sam
@@sailingwiththejamess Yep I really struggled. Im sure another boat will have a solid one you can beg borrow or steal to try at some point. Or even an off the beach hire co. I still love my sup. I use it for putting out crab traps in local waterways (Central Coast NSW). Though I do kneel most of the time due to the balance issue. Enjoying your vids mate.. Merry xmas.
Yeah that's an aw idea. I'll keep an eye out for one on the back of a boat. Don't know if I'd be brave enough to put pot out on the sup lol, she is a bit crocky in alot of the creeks up here. Cheers for the support brother and merry Christmas.
Well Charles will probably be doing her best to keep it off white for us lol. So far we have not noticed any glare but we haven't put the second coat on yet so ill have to keep you posted on that one. -sam
I was watching a video about a 72 ft. aluminum power boat and how the paint was causing water to build up behind the paint causing paint blisters and corrosion on the aluminum. They have a RUclips channel but I forgot what it's called. Anyways, after watching that video and Sailing Life on Jupiter talk a little bit about that same issue, I've decided not to paint the side of my future aluminum boat. I will paint the deck white but will avoid painting most other areas.
We'll have to check out that channel you mentioned, thanks for the info! We toy with painting her all the time Wowed believe it would be cooler for the tropics and hopefully slow down corrosion. -sam
Hey Mloret! We appreciate you watching! Yes I understand what you mean, we are greatful to be living out on the water spending time with Charlie. If you get a chance, we've just finished a major refit to our boat and hope you are able to spare a few minutes and check out a few videos of the refit. We have done some major modifications to the boat! Hope you enjoyed the rest of the video and hope you are able to check out some of our others! ! Cheers M! -Cait

Never ending story on a sailboat 😮😮 Another job to be done ✅ 😂
Great job to be back on the water and enjoying the hard work from the haul out 👏🏽👏🏽
Yep it never ends! But so worth it 🥰 the white decks are making a difference in heat 🎉

Too much glare and reflection with white decks imo. I always suffer bad sunburn on boats with white decks.

Light Grey is the most effective and user friendly.
@@wyattfamily8997 I agree
Or try a patch of cork decking.. where you can compare inside V topside temperature. Cork weather's to a natural silver grey.
We have cork on our aft deck. We love it it works really well.

Sailing Tangaroa ... Older Canadian Couple with grown up kids and she retired from the Canadian Police force.
@@sailingwiththejamess The RUclips channel is called Onboard Tangaroa. They only have about six videos so it's easy to see which video it is.
I just watched the video. It is great! I can't wait to watch there next one to see how it all turned out for them.-Sam
Your channel's startup theme about us wishing to drop everything to sail has been overused. Sounds stupid.
