    What is the proper adjustment for the chin rest and shoulder rest so that the violin is held comfortably between the chin and shoulder without strain?

    • @HeatherKaye
      @HeatherKaye  3 года назад

      I would suggest a center mount chin rest and angle the shoulder rest. It is difficult for me to give you exact advice customized to your needs without seeing you play. You can schedule a session and I would be happy to get you set up. heatherkaye.as.me/violinlessons

    Do you have some music theory videos for violin notes? I have note books that have a fair share of music theory however I like to go over music theory videos because it’s easier for me than just reading boring book pages.

    5:10 my elbow is always severely to the right :( it hurts when I try to position my arm where it is supposed to be. My short fingers and hands don't help at all because I am constantly straining my arm and fingers to reach the notes. can you help?
    EDIT: 7:28 my hands are always like this, facing the front because I can't get my hand in the correct position. Is it because my hand isn't flexible enough?

    How come Hilary Hawn has been known to put a towel on the violin near her neck,never saw anyone do that..

    • @harisankar2688
      @harisankar2688 4 года назад +2

      I also do that. My sweat glands are very active. So I tend to sweat a lot. When I sweat, the chin rest usually slips down. To avoid that I put a cotton cloth that absorbs the sweat and keeps the violin comfortably. But still I don't Hilary's reason for using a cloth

    • @HeatherKaye
      @HeatherKaye  4 года назад +2

      Many violinists use a cloth because they perspire and do not want the perspiration on the violin. Others because they have a nickel allergy and the majority of chin rest clamps (for lack of a better word) are made of nickel. Other violinists do it for show lol and others because the are just more comfortable. I know violinists, including Rachel Barton Pine, who adhere moleskin directly to the chin rest so there is no fussing with a cloth.
