A Career in Removals - Removalist (JTJS62011)

The final career this week is one that would suit people who are strong, healthy and enjoy meeting people. Duane from Onehunga High School certainly fits the bill so he's the perfect person to find out about a career in commercial removals.
Duane meets the team at World Moving, a company involved in packing and relocating people's possessions within New Zealand and overseas. First up he's on the job with a car that has come in from the USA and needs to be checked for any pest risks by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. Then it's a steam clean with the water carefully contained in an underground tank just to be doubly sure nothing unexpected makes it way into the country.
Soon after, Duane is out on the job with Kristal Morgan, a removalist specialist, to learn more about what this career involves. Their mission is to pack up a house lot of furniture ready for moving. While the theory sounds simple enough, Duane soon learns there are techniques that must be followed to ensure a proper job and it might take him more than a day to become an safe and quick packing expert like Kristal!
