One koku, at least per the book, was a rough unit of measure for how much rice it would take to feed a family of 5 for one year. As a 'rough estimate' figure that one koku is worth a salary of US$100,000/year in a large city. Toranaga gave him an annual income of 240 koku. (In the books it was 5 koku but I suspect that they adjusted to reflect the historical honor of a true hatamoto of someone of Lord Toranaga's status.). So figure that he was just given a fief estate worth about a quarter of a million a year.
This story is inspired by a civil war that lasted 150 years in Japan. 150 years of fighting between people of the same race, the most insane moment in the history of Japan. It was a time when people were fighting like the Saiyans in Dragon Ball. Today, the Japanese are just peaceful earthlings.
You need to read the book yeah it’s nearly 1200 pages but trust me it’s a wonderful Read I’ve read it at least five times and am currently rereading it as well
Fuji is so cute, she's my fav now 🥰
I actually ship her and john
Why because she much prettier
I'm Japanese, and even in modern Japan, modest and strong-willed women like Fuji are sometimes seen as symbols of virtue.
The actress herself is already very cute.
Jews call women like that "a woman of valor." That's a virtuous woman in a lot of cultures.

I don’t want any generous cuckoos …
Poor Yabushige. He's a clever one surrounded by fools.
Omi is the clever one moreso, Yabushige is definitely cunning and got his wits about him too.
I would like 200 cookoos!
who wouldn't.
