Hej Bjørn, if you have the possibility, I suggest driving the "Icon" non-convertible version with 16" 195/55 tires. There, the consumption should definitely be lower. In summertime, I get an average consumption of ~12kWh/100km.
when using this car for day to day journeys (30-50-70kph) and you make a conscious effort to drive efficiently I can get 10.5-11.5kwh/100km Drove from Germany all through Belgium (+300km) in one go and arrived with 5% battery left. Average consumption then was about 12.3kwh. On the motorways, I did stick to the truck lane at 90kph. if you're going at an almost constant 120kph, I average 175kwh/100km. and it charges faster too. don't know why it's so different. Mine's the non cabrio version though
I think that open roof driving is better suited for the city (esp. old European cities, like the ones found in Italy), where there isn't much wind noise and the drag is less pronounced.
My Mercedes SLK uses about 10% extra fuel with the roof down. Wasteful but worth it for the pleasure of the open air. Much more of an issue in EVs though (a reason why there aren't really any EV convertibles around?). Great review.
@@naivatco222 What? More discount than Germany?!? Only 9000€ in Germany. (: Congratulations to a very good government! Pushes the little people, to get a EV easy.
I didn't fully watch your previous video, so I didn't realise that the loaner you received is a convertible! If I recall correctly, the loaner Carwow's video team got wasn't a convertible.
Off topic, but Bjorn, you should have trademarked Optimus Prime as Tesla's internal code for their new humanoid robot version #1 is, Optimus Sub Prime (or something close to that)
19c getting cold.. noisy.. 😂 no, you’re not an open top guy… we’ve a smart roadster as a 2nd car for fun. The on,y times the roof is closed are 1. Parked.. 2. Raining… when driving and dry, roof is always open.
I wonder what the gear select situation will end up as. We have at least moved on from the gear knob analog, but this still has the buttons in the middle of the console which seems sub optimal. I'm surprised no one's tried a stalk yet. That seems the most sensible to me,
The worst thing about the 500 convertible is the roof mechanism which malfunctions after a few years and is very expensive to repair, besides demanding a hack job on the interior trim. I would never, ever buy the cabrio version again, stay away from it!
Thx for this test, particularly with the roof up/down! Regarding the droning noise (you said „fapping“ - you are a naughty boy ;-) ) you simply release the tiny wind deflector on top of the wind screen, this will eliminate most of the droning sound.
What would the consumption be if it was on sensibly sized tyres. 205/45 tyres are ridiculous on a car such as this. Fashion over function wins the day.
The cheaper Passion model is on 15” wheels, and gets a WLTP range of 199 miles for the hatchback, vs the 185 miles for the La Prima Cabrio tested in this video. The La Prima hatchback gets 194 miles.
I honestly don’t even understand why Fiat bothers to exist in the US. I wonder if they will ever sell these here or not. Also, Sherpa mode? I mean, what? They should’ve named them Italian names or something. Also disappointing they didn’t do RWD like the original rear engine 500.
Better than the old one but STILL it is a terrible car overall...how much they compromise with the aerodynamics with this open roof which blokes partly the back mirror (what engineering is that?)....it is more a toy than a car with such a small battery bank....and it is expensive for what it is....

Hey Bjorn! I think in one of those bags in the trunk there is a wind deflector. You should try it there isnt any video on youtube on it. Cheers
No it is integrated to the upper part of the windscreen and you can pop it up if needed, specially if the roof is half open
@@markkutaittonen4881 theres another one you install behind the back seats
Thanks Bjørn. Not bad… maybe hatchback version with 16” wheels could have done better
I love the layout on the dash display
I would like to see 1000km chalenge :)
Back seats for people without legs 🤣🤣
It's for bags or children.
The most important question is how many FIAT logos are on the car?
I'm sure Doug Demuro will count soon 🤣
They’ve beaten AMG’s and M-badges :D
500

The width of the tyres is a big factor on the consumption.

The color of that car is called “mauve” in English. Pink is a different, brighter color.
Banana box test with the roof open FTW.
Only the boxes count that survive a 90 km/h drive
infinite volume :::::::::I
Nice car!
Bjorn in Drag. Looking cute
Sorry drag coefficient.
Noisy, good for heavy metal loud listening musicians.
Loud and Proud
I guess the roof down is good for slow speeds, for tours on the woods or on the beach...
Nice roof open test!
Pls do dacia spring
Not available in Norway yet.
“There is too much sun right now”. Dude, you’re in Norway. There can never be enough sun in Norway.
Well at least in summer the sun shines all day and all night long.
That color is perfect for you
Incorrect. That color is perfect for you. That's why I made the video for you to watch.

Extremely important car, because VW doesn't sell the VW-E Up any more. 2025 the ID.1 is available. Till then, other cars have to fill the gap.

Is it possible to put the numbers in top of the screen instead of the bottom. Results are hard to read because of all the icons over it there...?
How about in winter? How cold would it be inside 😊

Yes, roof down is a lot quieter with the roof-top spoiler retracted. You’ll also get better range with the spoiler retracted.
Fun video Bjorn. Shame the 500 is very noisy with the roof up.
its no, this is cabriolet

The consumption for such a small car is indeed extremely high. But as a daily city commuter, it's ok.

Why do I get a advertisement from the oil company watching this video?

Not a fan of that logo pattern on the roof. Average range, it's pretty but in the end not that efficient...
