Transcript: A report from BBC said a Deaf school in England, the Hamilton Lodge School and College in Brighton, is to close due to a decline in the number of students. The school had been in operation for over 80 years and is slated to close in August 2025.
BBC said the British Deaf Association (BDA) said it strongly objects to the closure because every deaf child has a right to education in their natural language, British Sign Language.
The BDA posted a response to the school’s closure on its website. It said the closure is a “significant loss, particularly for Deaf children and their families who depend on such language-rich, inclusive environments.” The BDA called on the government to find ways on how the school can stay open. The BDA said the school’s closure is a “call to action for all stakeholders to come together and protect the future of Deaf children in the UK.”

WOW that's was exactly real hurtful enough for important things reason to keep opening for specialist of the deaf education department of name of honor of historical experience. Find a way to do something else just like a letters of name then second one is optional chance of name dear secondary school on campus. I pray for support BSL & ESL LIKE AS ASL PERFORMANCE OF EDUCATION DEPARTMENT AND STAY IN HISTORICAL SCHOOLS FOR COMMUNITIES SUPPORT.

We can design own A.I app for teaching us learn sign language in all worlds various languages.. instead waste our time file complaint in community school board? Just my opinion but shouldn't have shut down school. World is falling apart now? Sigh
Nice idea but there are over "300 different forms of sign language around the world" National Geographic. Sign Language cannot be taught through AI in even one language. Sign Language to a spoken language would be incredible, but it many many many years off in the distance, let alone trying sign language to sign language

Bda closed deaf kids ? My option maybe not enough money ! For reason not explain! What wrong government not supporting!! Or not like BSL ? Must pure English word best than BSL ?? If me wrong !!
I was wondering the same thing. I'm assuming it's not completely funded by the government.
