I can't believe there are people who can be so unappreciative. Please Locs Of Love don't let it deter you from making similar videos. Everything you explained in this video is what helped me from messing up my hair and I truly thank you for it. Stay blessed!
1perle THANK YOU 😊 I learned quickly that putting yourself out there on RUclips you just have to be prepared to deal with negativity and trolling. In the very beginning stuff like this did almost make me want to quit but most of you all commenting are really supportive and up lifting and I really appreciate you for that!!! Thank you for watching my videos
Thank you for these tips. Your explanation and technique on how to self-retighten give me confidence that I could possibly get Sisterlocks installed. I've been hesitating because of the cost involved in returning to a loctician every 4-6 weeks for the service. Now I am reconsidering since I watched your very informative and instructive video. If I can re-tighten myself then maybe I can afford it after all! And your locs are lovely!!
Well, I'm glad I could bring some inspiration. I can seem like a big commitment to do it yourself, but it is definitely worth it. Even if you only retighten your hair some of the time that's money saved! Thank you for commenting, I really appreciate yall for the support!!
You did a great job of your retightening and I appreciate your review of the tool. I have no intention of ever doing my own reties but this video made me think I could be able to do something with the front from time to time to tidy things up.
Great Job. I' ve been locked now for year 1/2 now I just started to retie my sisterlocks hair this week. So far, I'm 8hrs in and that's just the front of my hair. I know as I get more comfortable, I'm hoping it won't take that long but it looks fantastic to me. How many hours did it take you to complete your hair, (I know you said 3 days but how many hours do you think if you were to give me an estimate) and how long have you been doing your own retie
Best Explained In detail video Thank U gurl I helped me get out of debt 🤣 You explained everything for me...that each part of the head is a little different ill let u know how I do.
Hi locs of love, your locs are gorgeous. What is you strategy when you sit down to retighten? Do you work from back to front ? I just started retightening my 14 month old SL myself and I can only get a small section done at a time and it takes me weeks. I feel like I doing one section or another at any given ton of the month so I’m always retightening. In other words by the time I’m done my entire head the section I worked on first is ready to be done again. What would you advise ? Did you take the class!
Hi, thank you! So I usually work from back to front. I’ll part my hair in 4 section and have a goal to finish at minimum 1 section a day, but I can usually get 2 done. I try to set aside time on the weekend when I have nothing to do that way most of my day is dedicated to doing my hair. I’ll watch movies or YT videos while I work on my hair to help pass the time. I think the more you retighten your hair you’ll start to get the rhythm of the rotations and the faster you’ll get. It took me over a week to retighten my hair the first time, but doing it over the past 8 months I’ve gotten it down to a solid 2 days. I think the biggest key is to set aside time that is solely dedicated to doing your hair with no appts or errands to interrupt your flow. Then just break your hair up into manageable sections and set a daily goal of how many sections you want to finish by the end of each day. Hope that was helpful in some way!
You did an amazing job! I don’t know if I want to take the Sisterlock Reti Class! I’m thinking I just want to do my own reti cause my fav Loctician is moving next year 😢 so I have to find someone else to care for my Loc’d and I’m not really to thrilled about that ... Tutorial was flawless, well except the camera focus 😂
Is this the official sister locks method? My mom needs her hair retightened but I don’t have $1,300 to spend on a 4 day class nor do I want to ruin her progress. Lol
Wakanda Does Not Exist Sorry Hi, so this is an “interlocking” technique I use to maintain my Sisterlocks. I can’t say it’s the exact Sisterlocks method since I’m not certified or anything. Also everyone doesn’t use the same retightening pattern on their locks. I use a 4 pattern for my type of hair which I knew bc my consultant told me. But your moms may be different. And I understand it is pretty expensive for the class especially if you’re just gonna be maintaining your moms hair. So I took the chance on my own hair and figured it out myself so it affected only me if I messed up. I’d say maybe find a trainee to do her retightenings since it’s a bit cheaper if your unsure. But if you take your time and research and your mom is patient with you I’m confident you can figure it out. See if her original consultant will tell her what retightening pattern she used on her head. It’s a big learning curve and you may make mistakes, I did. My videos are to show how I maintain MY hair and to give people the confidence to do theirs.
C Ric During the retightening I just try to incorporate all the little hairs surrounding the base of the loc in it while interlocking. And I’ll periodically use a mirror to make sure I’m keeping my parts clean. No I don’t snip, I’m too afraid I’ll snip a whole loc off lol.
Hello, did you take the class or did you learn on your own? I am tired of being over charged to get my hair retighten, and not sure if taking the class is a waste of my hard earned cash? 😩 Also where did you purchase your tool?
Susan Demus Hi! I actually learned on my own from RUclips. There are so many videos on here about interlocking locs that helped. It’s a lot easier to master then people think. I think Sisterlocks are intimidating bc the amount of loc there are. So it is tedious but pretty simple. Now I’ll never discourage someone from taking the class bc some learn better in hands on/one on one tutorials but at the time the class option wasn’t in my budget so I just figured it out myself. Tool is from London Loc Tool website (That’s also the name of the actual tool) which I linked in my tool review video. But I believe it pops right up in a simple google search. 😊
silkybaby31 I actually retighten the back locs just by feel I don’t use a mirror or anything. I just section off my hair and take my time.To make it easier you can section off the hair in the back and then use the mirror every time you move to a new row to get perfect row parts. From there you can retighten each loc in that row by feel. It’s easier then it sounds. And if you stay up on your retightening schedule and prevent excessive amounts of new growth you’ll be surprised how easy it is to retighten the back without looking and maintaining you grid. If you are still not comfortable tho there are 2 other options. One, get someone to help you by assisting in parting or checking and verifying as you go to make sure your parts are clean. Two, if you have a good relationship with your Sisterlocks consultant you could get them to retighten the back and you maintain the front. You’ll be saving money bc it’s not a full retight and you won’t have to worry about the back. I hope this helps! Hopefully in the future I can record a video of me retightening the back.
union23mom I usually break it up into 2-3 days. Since I have a toddler I usually have to stop a lot so I retighten sections throughout the day as I can lol
You can always find another video. Always putting people down. You are free to keep searching until you find what you're looking for. She's just trying to help.
susan thomas Thanks for subscribing!!! I purchased it off the London Loc Tool website. I made a video on it on my channel where I link the website in the description box.
New subbie here! :) Thank you so much for this! I like how detail you were to explain your entire process; I'm happy to know that having lots of tools like clips and scrunchies everywhere isn't necessary. It really helped ease my fear of re-tightening my SL in the future(after I get them this year)! Btw your sisterlocks are absolutely gorgeous! What size(s) are they and what was your starting length?
Thank you for subscribing!! Yes it’s all about what you are comfortable with, and for me all the accessories and tools were just getting in my way and slowed me down. Once you start retightening you’ll get a feel for what you find necessary or not. I’m not sure what size they are, but my starting length was 6-7 inches throughout. You are gonna love your hair when you get them installed!
LOL I'm so late finding this comment! YT don't notify as well as it should.Thank you so much for that extra piece of wisdom and answering my questions. I'm in a love-hate relationship with my natural hair( the only hate comes from the difficulty of detangling it and the cute braid-out styles not lasting LOL). I appreciate your comment supporting me while I'm about to embark into this new hair journey;can't wait to join the gang! :)
Oh I’m sorry. I was just trying to be as informative as I could. I meant to put in the description where the actual tutorial started, but I forgot. Sorry.
You did a very Good job explaining every important detail, girl I tried to do a loc on my head and messed it up I wish I would've saw your video first lol I didn't do my rotation evenly and I had no idea I had to start my sides and front different from the back of my head...Thank you, u saved me time from No t going to a Salon and saved me so much $$$ God bless you....8 years loc'd and I'm never going back to a Salon THANKS
