This song should have been a monster hit, Instead another victim of poor label promotion. It's beautifully written, melancholy, lyrics that speak profound, deep, emotive, and yet somehow upbeat and hopeful. Timeless. The Friends song is a friendly TV jingle, this one ...Beautiful Genius.
I love how the song resolves itself by going to major chords for the last chorus until the end... like, "that's just the way it is- and it's OK.".
Look at the artists who were big in 1991 when this song came out. The ones that were dominating the charts sucked the air out of the room for the other artists who were just starting out like The Rembrandts.

Those Lennon/McCartney vocal harmonies are perfection. This is so impressive for a 4-piece group playing live.
I don't think these are Lennon/McCartney vocals at all. These guys are using a very low harmony line sometimes, and other times they sing in unison an octave apart. In fact, they sound a lot like Squeeze rather than the Beatles.
@@cowsongs Squeeze is a good comparison, but their vocal blend in the verses made me think of John and Paul's in "This Boy."

Out of the blue I was thinking of this song! I bought the cd way back when with this song on it. Like many cd's it got scratched and unplayable. I was going to buy this song and download it for my personal library but I can't remember my iTunes password. Doh!
So, to gratify myself, I thought I'd leaf through RUclips and low-and-behold, here is an amazing acoustic rendition of a great song!
I always wondered what has happened to these guys?
After the success of their first album and the residuals of "I'll be there for you" have run its course, then did they go back into corporate America as accountants or the trades as carpenters, or even back into the "tech" industry programming algorithms for RUclips? lol

Sad how their success with the Friends theme overshadowed some of their more intricate well-written tunes. If I had to choose one song that prominently displays the bands talent this would be it.
I’m happy that their Friends theme made them popular and wealthy, but I NEVER cared for that show or it’s actors......HOWEVER.......I can listen to this song forever....such a beautiful tune, and they are immensely talented here still!
