      I have been offered a lovely Red 1200 2022 bike with extra Nikon rear suspension cushioning it is the best looking bike I have seen! Only 3000 miles and a low buying price I’m a bit worried with the seat height I’m 5ft 7” with a 29” inner leg thing is if I buy it is without a test drive given, I would be very upset if it is to tall for me what are your opinion here many thanks ,Pete! Also the smaller 900 twin is 50mm lower seat height use a point !

    • @msims1250
      @msims1250 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@pontypete7357 I think you would be fine on the Speed Twin with a 29” inseam. With my 28” (which, if I’m being honest is probably 27.5”) inseam, I get the balls of my feet down, and that’s all I really need. The bike is very well-balanced and quite stable, so I really don’t think you’d have any problems.

    Another cool vid.
    I’ve had the Thruxton RS, the Scrambler 1200XE and now the 2023 ST.
    Loved the RS..but a little aggro on wrist and narrow tank, 1200 XE felt very big and tall and hot side pipes. Also don’t think modern TFt looks the part. And now the ST 1200…everything great about the RS with a bit more comfort 👍🏼. Awesome bike in my opinion, I do wish it ran a bit cooler though, when the fan kicks on it gets pretty darn hot on your legs.
    Anyone on the fence about the ST..don’t be…it’s a great machine!

    The closest Speed Twin RS would have been the very limited Speed Twin Breitling edition that had the Ohlins rear shocks. I don't think Triumph wants to make a Speed Twin RS as it would pull sales from the Thruxton RS. Some others have also found that the Thruxton fuel map is a bit more aggressive to give it a few more HP over the Speed Twin, but the 1200 motor is identical.

    • @stevebolton8471

      Thruxton Final Edition is being produced now. Sales of cafe racers have fallen in recent years. And the Speed Twin is a much more capable bike. You can ride it all day without wrecking your wrists and the seat isn't a plank.

      In rain mode it’s very easy going, doesn’t feel as heavy as it should either. Has excellent brakes, handles very well. In sport mode it’s not beginner friendly. Still recommend it for a beginner, just make sure you get engine protectors because you will probably drop it, hence why it’s good practice to get a beater bike for a first bike.

    Agree that a Speed Twin RS would be an excellent offering. I had a Thruxton 1200R, and would have loved the more upright handlebars of the Speed Twin coupled with the suspension of the Thruxton. I went with Metzeler Sportec RR’s when I replaced the tires and was supremely happy with them.

      Dont look that much videos :)....Nobody needs a Speed Twin RS, just this one english guy....and if you`re under 80 Kg`s you dont need any other Suspension, just adjust the original under your back. No need to throw away the money...you will need it for the Tyres, if you love the Metzlers...2500Km, well thats just a fifth of a season. Im now trying out the Pirellis Scorpion Trail II. The handling is nearly similar to the racetecs, in rain they are in another Dimension and if it is dry, you can go to the Edge without driving like hell for the right Temperature in your wheels. I hope the tyres will last at least 10 or 12k Kilometers...

    First of all, I love this channel, so please consider this statement when I make my next statement. It makes me sad that this bike specs out very much like my much-maligned ‘96 Buell S1 Lightning in just about every way, but because it has a different manufacturer on the tank, it gets so much more respect. I feel this comparison is fair, due to the targeted buyers that each of these bikes are aimed at.
    My bike has been very, very reliable, is for the most part maintenance free, makes comparable power, probably handles comparably, great brakes, sounds amazing, but was panned ruthlessly by motorcycle magazines and articles for being unapologetically what they are. Again, no insult to the channel, but Buells were, and continue to be special to a small, but still important demographic. Just wanted to advocate a little for the Little Bike Company That Could. Cheers.

    I know this is an older post, but I'm considering a Thruxton as a first bike. I'm a heavier guy (~260), and an older rider (44). No desire to go out and engage in hooligan behavior, but I LOVE the look and heritage of the Thruxton. I'd be riding around the city, and suburbs near where I am, and I REALLY don't want to miss out on being able to own a Thruxton. Plus, that green is just killer. I know you're not a fan of large displacement and power for new riders, Yammie, but I'd love to hear (read) your thoughts.

Also, word on the street is that they Thruxton will return, but as a 400, but that could just be nonsense.
