Love my '22 Speed Twin. It gets lots of attention. It's not easy having the coolest bike on the road.
Lol
Until they see my custom 08 Triumph Scrambler. 😉
Until you see my speed twin 1200 my 22 all black no plastic with a tank strap 😊
calm down there fudrock
My Rebel 1100 blacked out is way cooler!
the retro looking bikes like this and the RS bikes from Kawasaki look so cool
Cb1000r in pain
I have that very bike! I love it! It is such a fun bike to ride. For anyone curious, I’m 5’6” with a 28” inseam and the seat height is not an issue at all. Nice vid, yam.
I have been offered a lovely Red 1200 2022 bike with extra Nikon rear suspension cushioning it is the best looking bike I have seen! Only 3000 miles and a low buying price I’m a bit worried with the seat height I’m 5ft 7” with a 29” inner leg thing is if I buy it is without a test drive given, I would be very upset if it is to tall for me what are your opinion here many thanks ,Pete! Also the smaller 900 twin is 50mm lower seat height use a point !
@@pontypete7357 I think you would be fine on the Speed Twin with a 29” inseam. With my 28” (which, if I’m being honest is probably 27.5”) inseam, I get the balls of my feet down, and that’s all I really need. The bike is very well-balanced and quite stable, so I really don’t think you’d have any problems.
I have a ‘19 speedy with Ohlins rear and Nitron fronts. And some other mods. Hopefully will be able to give it to my kid one day.
Correction, it is not the same frame as the scrambler. It is the Thruxton frame which is a much shorter and smaller frame. Totally different.
Love that you scooting between cars is now a "gixxer brah"
Finally...lol....I thought you were going "full Ducati" for life...lol...
21:40 why is the footage mirrored here? xD i heard your revving and saw your "left" hand moving and I was like HUUUH??
owns the '22 red paint, loving it. Did a couple touring trips and wind does get to me a bit.
I ride a 13 Sportster 1200 custom xl and recently tested the speed twin 1200 and scrambler 1200. I'll take the speed twin.
Nice review. You youngsters are less forgiving than us oldies. Love the perspective.
I’m getting this bike one day. I love the retro look
Yammie thinks that all the other Bonnevilles have a five speed, but in fact, only the 900cc motors have the five speed. Everything with a 1200 has the six speed gearbox.
I don't have a street twin but I have 23 Bonneville Speedmaster. Triumph makes absolute bangers.
Agree that a Speed Twin RS would be an excellent offering. I had a Thruxton 1200R, and would have loved the more upright handlebars of the Speed Twin coupled with the suspension of the Thruxton. I went with Metzeler Sportec RR’s when I replaced the tires and was supremely happy with them.
The suspension on Thruxton RS is just as much of a peace as the engine, I plan on doing handlebars on mine (not getting younger)
I'm planning to put bars on my Thruxton R.
Dont look that much videos :)....Nobody needs a Speed Twin RS, just this one english guy....and if you`re under 80 Kg`s you dont need any other Suspension, just adjust the original under your back. No need to throw away the money...you will need it for the Tyres, if you love the Metzlers...2500Km, well thats just a fifth of a season. Im now trying out the Pirellis Scorpion Trail II. The handling is nearly similar to the racetecs, in rain they are in another Dimension and if it is dry, you can go to the Edge without driving like hell for the right Temperature in your wheels. I hope the tyres will last at least 10 or 12k Kilometers...
The screen flipped about 90% of the way thru. Trippy.
i think thats to confuse the cops haha
There you go Yamm. Something a little more attainable and useable unlike the red Chad rocket
Nice to see Speed Twin content! I have a 2019 Speed Twin and heavily modified! Absolutely love the bike and hope to keep it for a long long time!
I have the same! What kind of mods have you done? Been thinking of upgrading to a sportier bike instead of investing thousands upgrading the suspension and exhaust. Your thoughts and experience would be amazing
Yo guys, I'm 6'4" you think I'd be too big for it?
Good of you to reverse the image: helps us in the UK, Australia and Japan (among other countries) to know what the Speed Twin is like when driving on the left.
Hard to beat Triumphs Thruxton RS in this category. The Speed Twin is probably a tad more comfortable than the Thruxton RS but the T120 is more comfortable than either the RS and Speed Twin.
The speed twin has a 10 pence plastic chain guard which is pathetic for the money it costs .
Also triumph have stoped putting on radiator guards as standard..
Best solution is put the metal thruxton chain guard on the speed twin .
Such a nice bike. Triumph has came a long way in the past 15 years. Great quality
3.8 gal / 14.5 litre fuel capacity kind of cripples it for use as a touring machine on occasion. Would be nice to snap on a windscreen & bags for dual use.
Come on that’s plenty, relax and stop for gas, have a bit Of food and a drink and ride on.
It really isn’t about how many miles you do………..geez
love triumph
I love my 2022 speedtwin, I've had it 18months now, had a few problems since by all been resolved with warranty. Don't think I will ever sell it
Could you please describe the problems for us?
Looking to offload my two Speed Triples for something a little more user friendly, the Speed Twin seems to fit the bill.
Looks great, but! But…Moto Guzzi’s driveshaft and shaky V-Twin has much more charm to me. Since the price difference is considerable and since the 850 engine for the V7 is far from lazy, I think it’s still a no brainer if you can live with the clunky noises from the gearbox.
vroooom *shift* CLACK! vroooooooom *shift* CLACK! HAHA! Doesn't sound charming to me but glad it is for you.
Coming from a sport bike world, and loving that Yammie is doing this video, I continue to struggle to see the appeal of this style of bike. To me it looks boring. But it’s a Triumph, so I continue to observe.
You have to ride them to appreciate them.
I'm 5' foot 1", with about 27" inseam, I've been riding for about 6 months and very good rider with my 250cc San Gabriel, but need to upgrade. Should I get this speed twin (higher seat height), or a Rebel 1100? Please and thank you.
If you need an upgrade. Then do it
You could also consider the speed twin 900, the seat height is more forgiving and still a lot of fun despite the lower displacement
How many miles have you ridden? How many hours have you practiced low speed maneuvers and emergency braking? 250cc to 1200cc is a huge jump in power & weight. I recommend a 500 or 650-700 for your next bike
Get the speed twin 1200. I'm 5'2. It's very narrow between the legs so you'll take advantage of that coming to stop lights.
I am at a point where I am thinking about replacing my XL1200CX with a Triumph. Seems the weight is about the same but the power is higher on the Speed. My suspension is better on the XL1200CX. Also more available for bags and customization. Love my XL but my eye is roaming.
I have one and I wasn't thrilled with it at first, but it grows on you. Love it like my dog now.
The closest Speed Twin RS would have been the very limited Speed Twin Breitling edition that had the Ohlins rear shocks. I don't think Triumph wants to make a Speed Twin RS as it would pull sales from the Thruxton RS. Some others have also found that the Thruxton fuel map is a bit more aggressive to give it a few more HP over the Speed Twin, but the 1200 motor is identical.
Thruxton Final Edition is being produced now. Sales of cafe racers have fallen in recent years. And the Speed Twin is a much more capable bike. You can ride it all day without wrecking your wrists and the seat isn't a plank.
My dream bike, but in Brazil this model is very expensive!
I agree with your opinion on the orange color and performance. I couldn’t resist the Breitling version. My 041 of 270 was purchased through Eurosport. The only thing I would like it to have is cruise control.
Could you retrofit the cruise control? The Bonneville T120 has it.
I wanted one of these. Just a tad too expensive. Happy with my shiny new blue XSR 900 though(;
I'm confused, why was that highway at the end running opposite ways?
Me too🤤
He flipped the video. 😅
Yammie getting into the British-ness of the motorcycle
I just bought one. I feel happy.
@yammienoob Can you get your hands on a Street Twin (Speed Twin 900)? Would love to hear your impressions of the ST900 in contrast to the ST1200.
Finally! You reviewed my bike ❤ on the track day I can confirm it performs nicely, pulling away from various 600 racers out of the corner
Another cool vid.
I’ve had the Thruxton RS, the Scrambler 1200XE and now the 2023 ST.
Loved the RS..but a little aggro on wrist and narrow tank, 1200 XE felt very big and tall and hot side pipes. Also don’t think modern TFt looks the part. And now the ST 1200…everything great about the RS with a bit more comfort 👍🏼. Awesome bike in my opinion, I do wish it ran a bit cooler though, when the fan kicks on it gets pretty darn hot on your legs.
Anyone on the fence about the ST..don’t be…it’s a great machine!
but how does it wheelie?
Love this bike......just curious when your gonna get your hands on a Speed 400?
Yammy electronically uncorked it'll pull second gear wheelies without any clutch assistance. That engine is a peach even restricted though.
I think that I prefer this one to the Scrambler, it looks like it has a simpler electronic package and an actual key but a 12000 that revs so low this baby has got to be really torqative now I really wish that I could afford the 400 and I wish this review was longer than the other and I wish you could do the third one as well but man that's too many wishes. Never the less fun times right?👍👍👍👍👌👌👌
I have that same bike in orange and I think you really hit the nail on the head… it’s happiest when you push it a bit on a twisty road!
You keep saying “regular Bonnevilles only have 5 speeds. “ That is incorrect. The T100 has 5, but the T120 has 6. I own a 2020 Bonneville T120. My bike also has two riding modes, cruise control and heated grips.
My only complaint is no cruise control, but an RS version would be nice for bragging rights more than anything.
Image is flipped…
Yammies in love , congratulations Yammie, she's beautiful.
Black never goes out of style Yam... 🙂
What's going on in the last 4 minutes of the video ? Look closely, everything is opposite on the bike - the throttle, tank lid, and master cylinder are on the left...🙃
T120 is 6 speed . Thought i heard you say 5 speed on bonneville. Mine is the bud ekins edition 2020
You're making me all jealous, I just bought a 23 xsr700. it's almost perfect, but I need to get an exhaust on it. The new one handles much better than the one you did videos on, if I'm honest. I'm no super squid tho, so it might just be fast for me😅
13:09 That's a tad rude towards those in the black car.
Can you consider this as a starter bike?
In rain mode it’s very easy going, doesn’t feel as heavy as it should either. Has excellent brakes, handles very well. In sport mode it’s not beginner friendly. Still recommend it for a beginner, just make sure you get engine protectors because you will probably drop it, hence why it’s good practice to get a beater bike for a first bike.
Just bought one this week, been waiting for this video!
A nice bike but no cruise control out on the open road is going to put a few buyers off it.
Call me a hipster until you are blue in the face, it doesn’t make Bonneville’s any less awesome. One day I’ll get one, a 900 would be plenty enough for me.
Get the 1200 it’s awesome
I've got the 900. Its a great bike and like everyone else who has one, I wish I had the 1200
Finally a proper review without stupid vid effects and editing 😂😂😂
Looking at my dream bike with 17 dolar balance on my account 😂
totally agree about the 'black'. especially flat black, just terrible. 😁
First of all, I love this channel, so please consider this statement when I make my next statement. It makes me sad that this bike specs out very much like my much-maligned ‘96 Buell S1 Lightning in just about every way, but because it has a different manufacturer on the tank, it gets so much more respect. I feel this comparison is fair, due to the targeted buyers that each of these bikes are aimed at.
My bike has been very, very reliable, is for the most part maintenance free, makes comparable power, probably handles comparably, great brakes, sounds amazing, but was panned ruthlessly by motorcycle magazines and articles for being unapologetically what they are. Again, no insult to the channel, but Buells were, and continue to be special to a small, but still important demographic. Just wanted to advocate a little for the Little Bike Company That Could. Cheers.
That orange color is the one that caught my eye at the dealer. Beautiful bike.
No offense but your roads are really bad, you would think the richest country in the world would have better maintained roads.
we spend all of our money on the best healthcare system in the world.. oh wait
@@paradiddlesixix7530 You meant military system. That's pretty much our nation's healthcare system right there haha!
@@paradiddlesixix7530 on that funny fake place in the middle East
So what about a 919 Hornet compared to this ? Both comfortable, upright seating position , to me similar overall look or type of bike .
The Honda 919 is tough to beat as an all around bike...
Your sound quality is going down hill.
I own one and I love it!!
I'm 6'4" and I fit barely but I don't care. Mine is cranberry but it kind of looks orange. It's wildly popular with the ladies.
Been looking at this bike for a while. 6’2” here worries i am to tall for it. .
Gosh, what a beautiful looking bike!
Is this a beginner bike? Looking at either this bike or speed 400
Love the bike, so retro! Exactly my style
I get skeezed out so often, people should just call me Skeezey…, that doesn’t sound as good as I thought when I thought it.
Yammie, do you think it would be better with polished engine cases and chrome spoke rims ? I do.
Can this motorbike be lowered in height? I really want to have one but my height is a problem..😔😔😔
As I age I'm contemplating will this be the bike I transition to from off of a Street Triple.
You are all of a sudden riding on the LEFT side of the road at minute 21:39. Glitch on the Matrix?🤔
Dude, what kind of helmet are you wearing? Looks very silent!
Bought a '23 ST 900 as my first bike since riding dirt bikes as a kid. Fun, agile, beautiful, easy on the back (kids are demanding). Definitely wanting those bar end mirrors though.
Hey yam! Love from India.
could you please check out the speed 400?
If this were a give away bike I’d spend a considerable amount lolol
I don’t like the the gas cap not being centered it throws me off aesthetically
The fact that you could control the urge to overtake the Prius through that pavement is already responsible enough. I live in India, we don't care about our lives here man, we're just stupid lol. Plus Speed twin is so much...unique to ride that you can't help but feel like I can die today and won't regret. Sounds weird but it is what it is
There are so many of you there ,that they brush off the ones which crushed off the road
Save a lot; Just buy a RE650!
Honestly, I don't mind Triumphs, a lot more quality & retro than some other bikes I know of.
Maybe if I got more complete pros/cons review, I could take it more seriously
Thats absolutely ok. But dont read that much reviews, drive it.
Been waitng for this!!
Have you become an outspoken Atheist or something, Yammie?
am I going mad or did the bike just go lefty there on the last pull?😂
God I hate watching you poor non-California riders deal with traffic management.... I don't care where I am, I'll always lane split.
Hi Yammie,
I'm 6'3" and was considering this or the Kwaka Z900RS, which one suits a taller rider, I assume the Kwaka.
Go for the scrambler 1200 if you’re tall
This speed twin also one of two to Scrambler xe for my classic bike choice.
Question of the day - SpeedTwin or z900rs?
Oh man! I think I'm in love!!
nice
Comparison video with this vs the FTR vs the other retro bikes?
Try out an SV1000S
widowmaker wheelie machine lol. love those and the R version, wish they still made them.
21:48 why's the footage mirrored?
I've been thinking about the speed twin but at 6ft I feel I'd look silly on it, the bike looks tiny.
Nah , you're not too tall for it.
Snickety. Like the word choice. Feels apt.
Nice looking , except the bar end mirrors .
Wow a bike that yammy doesn’t talk shit about
Yam - I’m so glad you got to ride the Speed Twin. I owned one for a few years and loved it!
Nothing better than being an athletic 5'11 gigachad
