I love that you help us find ways to create without spending much money. The idea about using magazine covers and dividers to make them. Such good ideas. I love the idea of having a notebook for leftover paint. Keeps the potential collage papers in kne place! Thanks so much for your videos. Also loved the one on remaking the paper bags from stores into beautiful useful or gift bags.❤
This is great. I love using all sorts of "alternative" things for my art, especially if they are usually thrown away! I often buy things from non-art/craft shops. My hubby and I have a standing joke. I ask, "I wonder if I could make art out of that..." and he answers with a resounding "NO!" which I take as a challenge to prove him wrong! I am fortunate to have an electronic cutting machine. I have designed a lot of stencils on Inkscape and cut them from Tyvek envelopes. It cuts like butter, but you can't use punches with it - it jams the punch and won't cut. Pretty thin stuff but very durable and washable, but opaque. The only thing they won't stand is heat - you get fabulous results when you heat tyvek but it doesn't tend to make good stencils afterwards lol!
I cannot draw at all but I can trace a letter or a shape. I dont have any ink or a way to print but I can copy a shape in a book or whatever. Thank you for giving me stencils now as a tool for my journals
Wonderful ideas for making stencils Noit! I need to give this a try. I also look in the kids area at my dollar tree and have found many items to use . Thanks for sharing 💕💕
I like the cake stencils ..I was looking for stencils in the cake section just yesterday ..I decided I should just make my own ..so I'm going to work with drawing them paper then transferring to chip board To make a more sturdy stencil version off to look for the graphite paper ..remember we used to use carbon paper andit was so messy lolol...
This is a great tutorial. I have most of these supplies. You do a good job of showing just how a person need not spend the big bucks on supplies and how they are our own creations.
I have watched this video so many times. I just wanted to come back and say thank you so much for the tip on looking in the kids section of craft stores. In the United States we have a store called Michaels. I can buy tons of glitter and beards and feathers and sequins and other items for $1-$2 from the kid’s section that would cost well over $5 in the adult crafting section. 💖
Noit I shake my head i really need to open my eyes more I can see myself running around the dollar stores & hardware stores ( which by the way I love to go to) looking for things to use as stencils.& stamps. I LOVE the images you ued for your geli plate stamps, which reminds me i can't remember who but they used a silicone baking mat for the Geli plate. Have a great one.
Noit this is a great tutorial!! Thanks so much!! I’ve been looking for a harlequin stencil.... I’ve even looked on Ali express and I can’t find one... now I think I’ll make my own!! Hugs Marsha
Noit Art Ohhhh I’d love to see that, Noit! Thanks so much! Hugs Marsha If you don’t mind me asking, where is your home? (Country) I love listening to you!
Great video! I just loved all the ideas you shared. I'm going right into my studio an try some of your inspiring ideas. Thank you so much for sharing. Love all your artworks.
this was a wonderful video Noit - i really like the idea of gluing down fun foam shapes onto the foam board to use on the gelli plate - thank you for all of these great ideas!!!
hi...really helpful...thanku for sharing yr wealth of knowledge. stencils are very expensive to buy & have wanted to make my own {plus then they're original too} now i'm ready to have a go. again thankyou :)
I used (and still do) an iron to flatten out my DIY stencils. There's a very small blade knife that works really well. Not sure of the spelling, but believe it's call a "Xacto" knife. Not expensive and you can get into small areas. Blades are replaceable as well.
I clicked another pc of art... it is the latest with the moon & the bird. I loved it.. thanks for sharing. Enjoy Sukkot & Shabbat shalom. 🇺🇸🇮🇱❤️🇮🇱🇺🇸 margalit
I wonder if ironing that freezer paper onto the stencil you make would make them more durable to last longer. Such a great idea, Noit. I will be making some stencils for myself this way now! Shared your video on my FB group page, Roberta's Artistic Adventures!
Absolutely terrific video Noit. I'm going to save it for future reference. I've made a leafy stencil after watching another one of your tutorials and it turned out great. Thanks as always for sharing your talent and ideas
Hi Noit, Luckily we can buy sheets of Mylar for stencil cutting. I just sorted all my stencils so I know what I have and will add mylar sheets to my shopping list. TFS
Clever, it is interesting that anything classified craft/art gets an automatic price rise or do the supplies get taxed higher.... either way thinking outside the box is necessary and you have done that brilliantly, thank you
A great tutorial Noit! Thank you. We have the same situation here in Finland; stencils are so expensive. I've found place mats with great pattern, too, lol. Tfs, Fia
Just found your channel , fantastic 😁, I have bought a lot of stencils from AliExpress , but I really love the option of making unique stencils & these plastic dividers are a great idea 🙌🙌, I have these in my craft room somewhere so I''m off to create unique designs, thanks so much for sharing🤩.... just off to watch you homemade stamps video 😁
Great idea for using dividers for stencils. I also use non sticky clear book cover film. Not sure if you can still get it... it comes on a roll. I used to buy it in WH Smiths in the UK.
Yes . Mortgaging the house. Every time I went to Hobby Lobby at first time I spent around $150. That can never happen again! Then next time it was about $100. then $50. It is getting better. I've learned that steam punk is my art because it's just junk I have people give me their broken jewelry. Today I found a thrift store called only a $1. I asked her to save stuff like this for me. She said her boss was throwing them away. so have another source. Now I digress. I have to put Q-Tips on my list. I can get cheap. These days you have to be frugal. OH yeah the reason I was commenting is after you fold, cut why can't you iron them and put in plastic sleeve to keep in good shape. You have to already have the plastic sleeves. hehehe.
I find printer paper is flimsy and the paint bleeds under it, same way with cardboard magazine covers if the design pieces are close together. I tried using a stencil cutting melting tool on plastic dividers and the edges were jagged. AND the exacto knives handles don't hold the blade in place when I use pressure. Is there a better brand of exacto knife that you would recommend? When using the melting tool do you find you need to go over it again with a knife to cut off all the jagged pieces?
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. you have just saved me hundreds of dollars

I like what you did. That is very prettyu

Loved this!
Another idea is to use firm plastic packaging or discarded styrofoam trays as the backing for fun foam stamps...free and great to recycle too!
Thank you Linda
You are so inspiring. Thank you.
So clever, I have seen similar videos, but you take the crown as being the perfect tutor, so easy to follow, thank you. Tfs xo

Try using nail/cuticle scissors
Will do. Thanks
What do you use your stencils for/on?
Art journaling and gelli prints

Where are you from
I was thinking of using mynold soldiering iron.
I tried soldiering iron on acetate and didn't like the result :)
can one use newspaper that is glossy?
Yes you can, here is a link to a more updated video I made about making your own stencils:

@@NoitArt thanks will look now
THANK YOU. I WANT TO TRY IT 1
Go for it Ruth
And so much easier to cut with a soldering iron
This plastic dividers are to flimsy to withstand soldering iron
MERCI... ❤🧡💛
Merci Monique
Why not draw it straight on the plastic sheet instead of the paper, then trying to cut out squares or circles ?
I like to plan the layout first on paper, so any mistakes will be dealt with on this stage and not after on the plastic
Tada!!!!
Use an old X-ray slide
Thank you
or Voila!
that paint, very transparent isn't it!
