    I have a 1997 Plymouth prowler. Under the top center front of my engine is a lot of chingaling I think it's the water pump but my car doesn't over heat or leak water that I can tell. But sounds like an ac compressure cluch in there ( for example ) but car runs fine. It is hard to start sometimes but runs fine. I hope this video saves me from many mistakes. Thanks for taking the time to make it .

    Some vehicles have a timing chain others have a timing belt where as some have both (volkswagen). If you are unsure of what you have, you could always contact your local dealer and they can assist you in figuring out what you have.

    I wish they made cars like they did thirty or forty years ago. They had so much space in the engine compartment and you didn't have to take apart half the engine just to get to something.

      +GESSO217 Thank you for checking us out. We totally agree that with the newer vehicles there is less room, and much much more electronics. 1aauto.com

    This is a awesome video to my circumstances of my car being a dodge intrepid 2004 3.5L H.O but the layout is identical for there being a gap in yrs between the car in the video, and that being of.me n my abilities of having a "little" above normal mechanical know how... but I have never been taught to change neither waterpump or timing belt.. and feel very confident that I will apply n what I learned from the video tomorrow to my car that's.been sitting in the front yard for going on 2 weeks now

    Awesome video! Thank you for making this video. Although my vehicle is the 2000 Chrysler LHS version, I have found all the basics to be the same. And, yup, it's a jigsaw puzzle to be sure. Great info!!!!!!! Please look forward to my video which is up coming on this subject as I might be able to show what NOT to do.

    OK so here's the deal, the bearing tensioner went out and gor destroyed and then water pump seized, not sure in which order but the belt didn't break but it had no real tension because the bearing was in pieces with steel balls everywhere and the 2 cams nor the crank line up with each other, what do I do? Crank is not TDC, left cam is in between the dots and the right cam is about 12 teeth further clockwise to its mark between the dots. So I rotate the crank to TDC on the compression stroke and then rotate the right cam all the way around clockwise to its mark or can I just turn it counterclockwise back to the mark and then put the belt on and carry on with the test of 2 rotations on the crank and see if the cams still lineup? Nevermind figured this part out and got the cams alligned properly now I'm having trouble finding the compression stroke. TDC is easy but which stroke its on is presenting a challenge. Can't get anything to work to show me compression.

  • @bentramell729
    @bentramell729 Год назад

    I cant feel any compression in cylinder 1 no matter how many times I turn the crank to find compression stroke with TDC, the shaft that leads to the spark plug is so deep that you can't get anything down in there, like Ballon or paper etc, I've tried all kinds of things on the top port of the shaft and don't feel a thing or see anything move like the balloon won't fill up and paper won't blow off, it's too far away from the hole where the spark plug enters so I'm assuming it just dissipates before it ever reaches the top hole, I need a Guage to run down in there to screw into the spark plug hole I guess

    @notmycupotea You have to expect that with a timing belt.

  • @notmycupotea
    @notmycupotea 13 лет назад +1

    these cars you work on sure have to have alot of things removed to get anything done it seems...painfull but educational.

    It you do not have a way to hold the main pulley just hit the breaker bar with a hammer until it comes lose P.S. do not use a ratchet for that trick
