It honestly depends on the ITF TKD Dojo and the practitioner. Here in my dojo, we learn punching as much as kicking, basically doing kickboxing but under the name 'ITF TKD'.

Taekwondo WT has, lately, added other forms for competition competitions (so, going against what you wrote) and changing the tradition (which is important in my opinion). The ITF Taekwondo fight is without unnecessary stops and with a wealth of foot and hand techniques that WT Taekwondo dreams of.

Okay listen, I'm a fifth degree in ITF and I have a lot of respect for all martial arts and all styles. This ITF student didn't know how to adapt to his opponent. He's probably a first or second degree Dan and he was just doing what he was trained to do as as a low ranking black belt. My Masters and Grand Master told me to adapt and showed me different styles that they learned So that I could adapt to my opponent. This guy just did what he was trained to do. That's about all I can say. He's just a kid and a low ranking Dan that needs more experience.
I was wondering why a 'blue belt' taekwon-do practitioner was wearing a black belt uniform. Then l realised the competitors wear a blue and red belt respectively.

He'd have to be really quick to pull that off. If the Muay Thai guy is paying attention he can get in close during the roundhouse transition and hit him square in the stomach.
There's a lot of setups that we, mere observers, could think of, and there's nothing wrong with that. But being in a fight is something way more stressing. Thereare so many things you will think of only after the fight has finished and not comprehend why you haven't done them...
That’s why people do light sparring most of the time and hard sparring once in a while. During light sparring, you are not too stressed and would try more combinations, as there is less of a punishment for being wrong. It improves your ability to think under pressure until the real competition or hard sparring starts.
Itf you work more your fits and is more functional for kickboxing combat the wtf taekwondo is focus more on the legs and mark points whit out the need of kick hard or use a lot your fits becouse of the olimpic sport focus.

As much as I sympathize with him, I'm not sure about that. He let his foot being caught, being thrown out the ring, taken to the ground... As expected his boxing skills were worse than his kicking. He should have used bolder kicks in my opinion. Simple kicks, then immediately a spinning kick to the head or torso. Even if just to scare the opponent. Thing is that the other kid was so much taller, and the TKD kid just couldn't match his physical strength too. So, much respect for him being bold enough to compete in a different martial art with a physically stronger opponent!
There is a problem is that I do not notice the use of elbows in the Muay Thai fighter (I suppose it is for the safety of the taekwondo practitioner as he does not know or have an elbow in his fight so it is better not to use it)

Sidekick is Muay Thai 's greatest enemy cause most of them doesn't use it . Tried it with my friend who does Muay Thai back then before he gets to me he eats a lot of sidekick in body and in the face I also tried axe kick him but didn't chose to cause I know what it can do
Not really any different to defending front kicks. I’ve never had any issue defending side kicks and I’ve always done well against TKD guys by just spamming low kicks

Muay thai kid must be new to muay thai. Terrible form but seemed to know some mt techniques. Looks more like he used to do tkd from his stance and bouncing.
Eh "Thai" fighters stance and footwork is nothing like that of a Muay Thai fighter. It just looks like a TKD footwork mixed in with thai style kicks that are round and not snap.
I know I am being discriminative, but I believe only koreans can actually represent TKD, We truly love our culture so we have passion in learning it properly. It seems like the guy in this video is not skilled enough.
This is really two incompatible rule systems clashing. Nothing works well for either fighter. The MT guy had no clue how to deal with TDK leading leg kicks, or the side on positioning, or the open floor format/no ring. The TKD guy has no clue how to deal with knees/grabs and was timing/targeting his kick for points/not maximum impact. You're not matching up TKD vs Thai boxing here, all you're really doing is matching up the rules of both systems in an unsatisfactory format. The way to do is, is to put get the TKD fighter acclimatised to MT rules in the ring/non points fighting, and let the MT guy fight under TKD rules after he's been acclimatised to TKD.. There is no such thing as the superior art, only the superior fighter, and that depends on his brain/technique/level of training. I have trained many fighters from various martial arts in MT, and the ITF TKD guys, do very well, not the WTF TKD guys, most of them, have to learn to box from scratch. MMA is the best all round system, because it uses the most effective techniques from all martial arts. The MT fighter here, was a bit shocked, because he clearly expected the TKD guy not to be able to punch, where as in fact, the TKD guy, was the faster/more accurate puncher of the two, and way better with his kicks, just wasn't programmed for maximum impact.
There's no way that it's a muay thai fighter or else the fight would've ended during the first round. I know that because i do muay thai and that the guy didn't look like a muay thai fighter, but rather looked like a taekwondo fighter disguised as Muay Thai fighter
Most Muay Thai fighters I've sparred have pathetic hands. Their main focus is on the low kicks, clinch, elbows and knees which leaves their mid section quite open. I've seen high level Muay Thai fighters absorbing a huge amount of head strikes (Like Rodtang although dude is tough as tank so he gets away with it) due to the lesser emphasis on hands.

You can already find it… even in karate combat you can see karate vs Muay Thai . On 3 matches, karate won 2 of them against Muay Thai l.
