Keke Rosberg, probably the coolest man in the world, down to earth, no social media nonsense , as stylish as an Italian art gallery director, I could listen to him all day, Nico get him back on a track day with you in something nice, it would be great to see him race just one more time, from someone old enough to have watched him race first time round. !!! 👏👏👏 😉😉👍👍
Watching the interview, it's obvious that Keke has done his job as a father admirably well. Parenting done right, comes to mind. It is a case of "Like father, like son," in the sense that the two Rosbergs are obviously gifted racing drivers; in terms of character, I would say, Nico is an upgraded version, a more modern version of his father. More open to social media, trying to inspire change and genuinely caring about the sport that has given him some of the most powerful emotions in his life. Nico trying to get his father to open up about his feelings when Nico was racing was a wonderful moment. Nico's success in a way, is a testament to Keke as a father for letting his son grow into himself, on his own terms. Two different generations, but the respect they have for each other is palpable, and it is such an emotional scene to see a father and son acknowledge each other in the presence of each other. Keke, as one would expect of a Finn, is not very demonstrative, and won't say two words when one will do; and Nico is more expressive. Different as they may, both Rosbergs ooze class; a wonderful dynasty in Formula 1 history. Thank you Nico, for such exclusive insight. God bless you and your family.
Love Keke. Used to work with him on the ICI Sports Promotion when he was F1 World Champion and I remember when Nico was born. The comments here referring to Keke being a great guy are 100% right. One of the most influential people in my life, still, after all these years when I would photograph him and even sometimes drive him at events, including one time in Megeve in the snow when he taught me some ice driving! Lovely video, lovely memories, well done Nico.
Nice to hear Keke again, that voice brings back the memories of the 80's. He's the reason there are Finnish F1 drivers now. Without him there were maybe no Häkkinen, Räikkönen, Bottas etc. I might be exaggerating a bit, there were already some guys who got Keke there - but he made the dream real for so many young Finnish drivers. His mustache was the snow plow that cleared the way for the Finns :)
And I think Keke is really the reason the vibe goes like that. He's like this CEO who made his own fortune with hard work - so he's with the cigars, gold chains and watch, and the darkened expensive sun glasses, yet you can expect he could anytime start cursing like a harbor jack, to get things done. He enjoys to lean on the results of his business, but he's not afraid of the hard work to earn it.
I have huge respect for nico despite the obvious advantage of nepotism helping him in his junior career towards F1. He beat Lewis fair and square in his title winning season. Nico also is an intellectual which is fantastic.
I remember Keke interview in finnish TV back in 1998. I don't remember what the reported asked him, but Keijo answered "I don't know what e-mail is and I don't care what e-mail is, I have an assistant who deals with that kind of crap"
For a man that was said to not like being on camera, he was actually pretty chill and cool too. Cheers for getting Papa Rosberg on tape, Nico! Would love to see more of him. Perhaps him telling us some of his favorite stories or memories from his racing days
Keke was and is so amazingly cool guy. Videos of him smoking, that long hair and Ray-Bans in the 80's... amazing. Cool as Steve McQueen. And it's an absolute disgrace that there is no footage of that Keke's Silverstone world record lap.
Nico did mention that Keke has an aversion to social media, when they were going to Germany to celebrate the Audi victory. That vlog has just one shot of Keke, where you can just see his back.
To guys telling that Keke hates camera and social media.. He looks more comfortable with the camera than Nico and he is the best F1 pilot/speaker i have ever heard. So much experience etc..
Przemysław Jan when Nico 1st started his vlogs there were a few times he was with his father and keke would not come on camera as Nico said he hated it
this is a fantastic video/interview. It shows why Nico is such a nice, humble and well balanced person who walked away from his sport at the time he did. It's because his father is a nice, humble and well balanced person who brought his son up with the same values. Nico should be so proud of his parents, who made him into the respectable person he is now. Well done Rosbergs, of both generations.
Martin Brundle is one the best sports commentator ... great depth of knowledge in F1 and able to present it to the viewers in a way that makes you become a fan of formula 1
Nice to see 2 great F1 pilots together and they are from the same family!!! Congratulations Nico for the amazing interview with your father You made part of the history of F1!
2:23 'and it's not what it's all about, it's about spending weekends with your boy and having a good time' Very true words Keke. A lot of sports dads, at football or karting or whatever, take it too damn seriously and forget that more than anything you should make sure you're having fun together and your kid is enjoying it. It seems like too many now are so obsessed with the end goal of becoming professional that they sacrafice having a good time with their kid which is a shame. Keke seems like such a wonderful dad.
Nico is a gentleman, just like his father.....who is my all-time favourite driver .... against all odds to become world champion in 1983.......loved watching him 😀
Wonderful to see an interview with you both, especially for younger fans like myself who never got to see Keke race it's really cool to hear him talk about his experiences and how he sees Nico's career and how he sees him now. Such a cool guy, please tell him thank you Nico!
I loved watching your dad race. He described it perfectly. Around or through but he was so amazing in his ability and style. A great contrast to your smooth yet forceful style. Two great drivers. Thanks for sharing.
You guys had very relaxed feeling and video was super enjoyable. Nice to see finnish/german f1 stars finally together. Nico, please keep uploading cool videos.
Just to think, Keke might have never been champion in '82 if it hadn't been for the tragic loss of Gilles, which denied us another pair of father/son champions.
Thanks you both for doing this. We've really enjoyed the chance to see you both together talking. Just wanted to say how happy we both were when you took the title. Please know that here in the UK there are many many of us who were supporting you over the years and wishing you the win. Enjoy this next stage of your life, enjoy your family and thank you for the years of entertainment you gave us and for letting us share the final pleasure of winning the championship. You have a lot of fans here in England. The combination of great driving and being a gentleman. Cheers
How can you not love listening to these two. Very cool guys. And both so brilliant. And they clearly are very close. Loved seeing the. Lao of world champions videos in Monaco. The Williams just up and kicked off like it'd only raced the day before. And the Mercedes.... Well behaved like a Mercedes. So good to see this. You've cheered up a old school racing fan.
Two legends of the sport together. Legends. From your days in the lower formulas to the pinnacle I have loved watching you drive Nico. You drove with a class and style many of the other drivers of today could learn from. If there is a F1 hall of fame you too should be first admissions. I have watched your dad and the man was pure raw but wow! Great to see this interview and all the best to you too gents and your family. Peace brother.
Brilliant - its about personal accomplishment vs greed. Well done Keke in both your career and your job as a parent. Nico carry it forward, as you have done awesome so far!
I remember seeing KeKe at Road America, Wisconsin in the 70's during a Formula Atlantic race. He was the best driver on the track. Little did I know I was seeing a future F1 champion in the making. Great video.
One of the better race-related interviews I've seen in a while. Keke adds a nice dimension and has some great insight. More of you two together, please!
Simple, sweet and short, yet I got so much from that interview, great job Marty lol. Keke is such an impressive man and father, I could listen to him all day, legend. Nico, does what he needs to do in life with great success too. There is just something magnetic about Keke, cool as ice.
I found this interview 8 years after it occured and for some reason I feel like Keke could still go out there and race against his son or any other retired champion and be competitive. He presents himself as just an average person, which I wish more Formula one drivers would do, while at the same time giving off that don't challenge me energy. Wish you two the best
What a top man Keke seems to be. Always loved his balls out racing and his car control was fantastic. Looks like he has done an even better job as a Dad. Respect.
