The thing I love about this is how existential the threat of chaos is. Nothing banks quite as hard seeing a little girl hold the severed head of a space marine as a gun barrel is readied at her head or guardsmen being tortured alive or a woman burning at the hands of the night lords. No other threat is as actively malicious and want to see not just the destruction of mankind, but the active suffering of them quite as much as the chaos powers.
Ahem, the dark Eldar…

There's *so much* great art here official and fanmade, but I think one of my favorites is 3:49.
A wailing woman holding a damaged helmet of one of the Emperor's Angels and the barrel of a Chaos Marine's weapon about to silence her. It illustrates the tragic and often hopeless universe of 40k so poingantly.
Yet she is lucky enough to be killed swiftly and painlessly. Could be just a sign of respect to the owner of the helm. Some chaos marines still have a twisted sense of honour.

3:51 so well done
There's so much astronomically insane stuff going on in Warhammer 40k. It's hard to remember that, in the grand scheme of things, it is insignificant. The height of golden age technology didn't come close to reaching the Old Ones', or even the Eldar's, when they were on top. The worst battles of the Horus Heresy were small skirmishes compared to The War in Heaven. One galaxy out of countless, tens of thousands of years out of billions.
Crazy how small we are.
It's also hard to remember how significant the small things are. The Imperium is so incomprehensibly grandios that it's easy to think it's the only important thing there is. But to the average person in 40k the individual tragedies they experience are so intense and so personal that they are more meaningful than anything, even the Imperium. So many trillions of meaningful, vivid and desperately fought for individual lives forgotten for that singular great conflict that shakes the galaxy.
"A short life, and a long fame for me!"
- Achilles
Incorrect, humanity's power during the golden/dark age would make the Old Ones quake in their floating chairs, and it easily surpassed the Necrons, that's why their fall hurts so much.
Go read about the kinds of technologies that we know they had, it's insane.
@@THExRISER This isn't true. It rivalled the eldar, who didn't at all rival the old ones Psyker or necrons at their Ctan powered peak.
Humans were great, but not as great as Krorks or even eldar.
@@CountingStars333
-Terminator armor, an armor that makes it's wearer pretty much invincible was used for civilian work during the Dark Age.
-The equivalent of Imperial Knights were used for heavy lifting such.
-We had AIs that can bend the space time continuum out convenience, sending enemy ships milliseconds back in time placing causing two copies of it to exist at the same time at the same place, causing it to collapse on itself.
-The Men Of Iron were used to build Dyson spheres, terraform entire planets, and during war, demolish entire star systems in the blink of an eye.
-pretty sure grey goo-like tech was mentioned somewhere in the lore, you don't need me to tell how powerful that is.
-Humanity was so advanced that the fucking Orks signed a non-aggression pact with us because fighting us was so boring considering we delete them from existence with the press of a button.
-The Men Of Gold, mass produced super humans, it's even implied The Emperor might have been one of them, although I doubt they were as powerful as he was in 30K, since he had time to develop his abilities.
-Complete mastery over genetic engineering, hence the Men Of Gold, navigators, Abhumans and possibly even blanks.
-All factions, including Eldar, would fight over STCs because of how advanced they are, from ones that can cure all diseases to ones that instruct you on how to make Titans, something else DAOT humans were easily able to do.
I'm telling you, DAOT humans could easily hold their own against any and all 40K factions.
I've read somewhere, or someone told it, that grimdark doesn't mean hopelessness or terror. It's the dying light, shining in defiance against an inevitable, ever encroaching darkness.
Maybe overly sarcastic productions....or majorkill said something like that.
No that's Nobledark, which ironically is what 40K is slowly becoming with loyalist Primarchs returning and bringing hope with them, which was missing from the setting before, hence it being Grimdark.

The emperor, man turned god. Leader of the imperium of man who after being crippled to the point of being little more than a corpse has been strapped to a golden throne which acts as life support, where he has remained for 10,000 years. He is worshipped by the vast majority of Humans as a God. The ultimate irony being that before he was crippled he was an atheist who attempted to replace all religion with rationalism.
All the other commenter mentioned, but also he is one of the most powerful entities in WH40K and an incredibly powerful psyker that has the rare ability to permanently banish demons, since in his current cadaver state he is the glue that hold the Empire together and consistently fights off the hordes of Chaos so that they may not invade the material realm. If he were ever able to heal from his current state it would be a monumental moment in the universe that would shift the balance of power tremendously.

2:29 is awesome. What a guy.
Seeing the emperor in all his glory gave me goosebumps
I don't think I'll ever be able to pinpoint it but something about this video strikes a chord with me. It'd absolutely amazing what GW has done with something that started as a simple tabletop game. The characters, the stories, and the love we all share for this universe is just incredible
Slowly getting into the lore and learning bits and pieces, and as I keep going this video keeps getting cooler and cooler. Love using Horus's transformation as a transition at 1:35.
Remember, brothers. Cadia will never ever fall.
God, the 40K Artwork is so god tier and was so influential as a child
Remember brothers, it's better to Die for the Emperor than live for yourself.
FOR THE EMPEROR
FOR THE IMPERIUM
FOR THE HUMANITY
3:49 aight imma go purge some heretics

This is why we fight fellow guardsmen. To not see our great Emperor sad ever again! ;-;
This video renewed my faith in the Imperium. When the Primarchs start showing up, I was literally muttering "FOR THE EMPEROR! FOR MANKIND!"
This franchise is so deep, just love for Warhammer.
I love the imagery of the setting, living God-Like entities that come once in generation that inspire Millions. Whether they be for ill or good, beautiful artwork and human themes.
Dont let this die!
I love this video. The whole presentation of it is just fantastic. This song matches the 40k atmosphere so well, it really captures the tragedy of the 40k universe.
Personally, I wish 40k media would lean into that more, showing the deep sadness of humanity having lost its way. I found the stuff I've seen from the early editions extremely cool, where the fascism, propaganda, corruption and hopelessness are on full display, where there are no heros, only human monsters who forever locked humanity out of a happy and peaceful future.
The heroic side of 40k has its place, in the form of the theme of a candle struggling against an overwhelming darkness, but it needs something to struggle against. I'd find it cool if the Imperium was protrayed less as the good guys and as extremely heroic and more as self-serving, horrible, deeply flawed, having abandoned all potential for human kindness.
when video games are based on the middle ages but in the future it tends to get a little dark
Emperor and custodies art has got to be the coolest shit
Warhammer 40k is a universe so unique and full of histories, it would be no surprise for me when or if they made a romance book in the future, but that would completely break the "there is only war" magic of warhammer but I would really want to read something like this if it came. Like a tragedy between a space marine that became in love with a normal human woman or a sororita that started to love a guardsmen, it would be awesome to read and would bring more emphasis to the emotional of some characters
For romance there's a Love can Bloom about Vindicare Assassin fall in love with Eldar
@@blackmark7165 I know it's supposed to be about love but that's......HERESY
@@alexeibolavik1072 *Guilliman Sweating intensifies*
There is some "love" in the Fulgrim's book : )
@@kevinalexandr5 i dont think anything related to fulgrim can be considerade romance.
A surprising amount of booba, but not the hot kind. The "Rome is falling and the hounds of war are crying havoc, hide your wife and children" kind of booba.
Oh so a sack
This video is heresy:
1. Shows grey knights. Capital Punishment.
2. Shows daemons. This is Secret.
3. Shows Chaos Primarchs. They don't exist.
You have been sentenced to execution, effective immediately.
The Emperor Protects!
'When you have come to the edge of all that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen. That there will be something solid to stand on or you'll be taught to fly'
- Warmaster Horus
Heed me, my brothers and sisters. Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines, rises! The Lion, Primarch of the Dark Angels, awakes! The avenging Sons of the God-Emperor return to deliver us from evil. The Imperium of Man no longer will merely struggle against the dying of the light, but instead fight back against the darkness, and reclaim our lost glory! Ave Imperator!
Let us not forget the guardsmen who face the unimaginable horrors of chaos daily
Humanity, in the most evil, disgusting, grimdark future imagineable still survives. It does not go quietly into the night, it fights against the darkness, we still love and fight and struggle. If that is not proof of humanities divine manifest destiny I do not know what is. Ave imperator! Gloria in excelsis terra!
The emperor says to one of his custodians after Magnus opens the webway portal:
"The shining path is lost to us. Now we rage against the dying of the light."
Seen a lot of these meme videos for 40k, this one has the most art well done man. 40k is so good.
