idk i think you can do alot in peace time, especially once you have an empire and need to keep your dumbshit vassals in line at the same time as breeding the perfect dynasty, maybe also killing your half brother so you inherit his throne etc etc
Scandinavian Elective is very good for influencing who inherits your main titles, but Paradox kinda fucked up implementing it. It will attaching to your main titles, but your dynasty and household will still be inherited via whatever the "main" succession law is in your realm. In the case of the viking start that's confederate partition. So for example, if you have two sons and you elect your second son to inherit your kingdoms, he'll get them and a good number of the holdings, but your first son will become head of your dynasty and your house. So because Paradox couldn't get their inheritance system working properly in a game that's all about inheritance, any special succession laws are only useful if you're trying to pass down all your stuff to the character who would normally inherit in your country's default succession laws, most likely your firstborn son.
@@billalberkerky7069 Yeah I agree, thats on Paradox for fucking it up. Took me awhile to realize I wasn't the head of my dynasty, but of course an "accident" happened and I became the head again, hopefully they fix that in a later patch though
it doesnt make sense that it isnt in the game currently, you'd think they would add all the cool things from ck2 and make SURE they are in the sequel, then add new things in the dlc's/updates
@@HankHill11 I think it does make sense. The game has renown, houses and dynasty buffs. It has a form of the bloodline system, just a bit different. It just needs to be expanded upon a bit.
@@Thatonepersonyouheard I think the problem is that the renown system was set up to encourage player to spread their dynasty far and wide, even if it doesn't directly benefit them, as often happened IRL. But it's a clumsy way to do it. They already have unique dynasty modifiers you can get, like consecrated, noble blood, and witch coven (my favorite so far), they just need to expand on it. I think it's a good sign that playing this game I feel like I just want more of everything, even after putting in like 50 hours so far
@@MilkJugA_ renown is not a bloodline Nether is dynasti perk they are just perks like the perk tree, Bloodline is when someone intolerans dynasti does something incredible and becomes famous and now you get a buff becuase your related to him.

God troops coming outta nowhere has always been a ck problem, glad to see paradox kept the trend going. With any luck you can counter them by buying half a thousand dollars worth of DLC.
Mercs don't come out of nowhere. NPCs can hire them just like the player can. It's a good thing that you have to think twice before declaring a war against King, who has literally no troops of his own and is richer than King Midas.
Christian Hoffmann yeah but I swear I’ve fought kings that couldn’t afford mercs, maybe holy orders. Nonetheless it should tell you how many troops they have vs how much is possible with events and holy orders and mercs
Watching the stream and the watching Markoni do his crazy good edits is amazing. It’s like watching an all new mini stream! Keep up the great work Tommy and Markoni!
That clip of Tommy saying like "I don't know what to do besides wait for the next war" that is truuuue. In CK2 you had more events and options to do while as in CK3 it's mostly get married, get kids married, make alliances, conquer, make a council, deal with siblings, and then repeat. Hopefully in future updates, they add more events on decisions and stuff as well as make it where if you're raiding that the nation will raise levies to try to get you to leave.
I commented on a one proud Bavarian RUclips channel the same exact position ck3 not having much to do base game. This is not to say ck3 is not a good game but when you come off ck2 and having all of the DLC, ck3 feels feature incomplete, from all of the minor events that can happen in ck2 to what's missing and ck3 feels a little bad it's a new game so you can't hate on it too much. But we know the cool content is going to come out in the form of $20 DLC and hopefully each DLC is going to bring a lot instead of minor changes or faction opening and stuff like that ck2 was really bad for stuff like that.
Tommy actually illustrates 3 really good points in this video. The first is that theres nothing to do in peace times, which will probably get added in later DLC like CK2 so whatever. The other one is the lack of inherent randomness. Everything is calculated, everything has a timer and the player controls it all and it removes all the randomness that the old game had. People are random, they sometimes get really lucky or really unlucky, they're sometimes swayed by something or not swayed depending on how they feel that day or how they feel about the topic. Removing randomness dehumanises the game and turns everything into a timer. This then leads to the third issue, where characters don't feel epic because they didn't get lucky and have epic opportunities. When you're constantly rolling dice and they all come out good, it feels good because you know you beat the odds and that is why your character is epic. When you can precalculate all your claims and control everything with puppetstrings, it doesn't feel epic when you beat the odds. This game doesnt allow for that. Also the AI is trash lol. Its not a bad game, but I wouldn't say its better than CK2.
part of why you're struggling to find stuff to do in peace is cause you are probably only doing a martial or war based charecter. when you do stewardship or intrigue there's a fair amount you can do, especially if you don't start as a leige and as a vassal
Tbh there is no real Anglo-german feud. Britain had many a ruler with german origin. When germany itself was founded in 1871, they had great relationships with the english government. Only in ww1 things took a turn. So I wouldn't exactly call this the "everlasting anglo-german feud" and to be fair, that is the first time I ever heard of this term. No hate though, maybe I just don't know to which events you are refering to 😁🤜🏻🤛🏻
Dude, no wonder I could not play in the year 800 in peace. Vikings kept popping up with 5 - 7k death stacks while could barely conjure up a 2 - 3k stack.
By biggest problem with CK3 is the lack of cool events, it gets bland after awhile definitely doesn't have as much flavor. Might return to Ck2 honestly.
you have to remember that ck2 had so many DLC. this is just a far better version of ck2 base game. when the first ck3 DLC come out the game will improve massively
By the way, if one of your leaders of a vassal u have dies, and they have no kids, the land goes to whoever they liked the best, which in this case was Sweden in demark
Every time I watch Tommy and he starts roleplaying with medieval music, I can see my self sitting in a castle and listening to the music watching a fire or the storm. Love this channel, and you Tommy!
19:25 In CK2 you actually could choose whether your kid just learns the skills from his Guardian (teacher) or if he adopts his faith (faith focus) or if you want to go all in you could select the heritage focus which ment he would adopt the guardian's faith and his culture as well. In CK3 you can choose which education your child is gonna get and simultaneously if he should adopt the faith and heritage or just one of them.
Really really dig this improvement. Feels way more realistic. I had a muslim lady court medic educate my son and i found out he had the witch trait when i switched to him. Can't imagine thats a coincidence
19:30 I don’t think that’s made to be like “oh I’m gonna assign this but don’t want him to convert faith or culture” I think it’s more made to do that with other people of different cultures and religions, say you capture an Anglo-Saxon child, and you want him to become a Norse Asatru, so you check those boxes and he becomes that. My point is that I believe it’s more to convert them to those things than not
Being able to change the color of your country on the map is one of those things that I have wished for since I started playing CK2. It's a pity that it's never been added.
I like to imagine he is not playing vikings, he is playing "the baddies" in 13th warrior film. Those guys in the mountains with animal skins that even vikings fear them.
Hey Tommy, just so you know about your Sparta run: Hellenism right now is crazy expensive to create from anything other than a pagan religion. I am working on Haesteinn to create a stable kingdom in Rome, but the Holy Site in Carthage might be easier. I tried to do it as a Greek orthodox and it cost something crazy like 125,000 piety. as a Norse pagan it is more like 45,000. It's a lot, but fortunately I can get a lot of piety from all the papal lands I took in Rome. There is a huge debuff for it being a dead religion, and if you are christian then you are in a separate religion group and get an additional 100% cost.
I'm playing a game where I started as the chief of Traendalog and I had the same problem with having land everywhere. I figured out that it started when I declared a war for what I thought was a duchy in Denmark. I thought I was just going to get the duchy. Wrong. The guy was a Duke and he had land EVERYWHERE. Next thing I knew I had land in Ireland, Spain, Italy, Greece, and North Africa. What I did to get rid of them was unconventional...I gave all those little counties to vassals and then pissed them off greatly so they declared independence. I didn't give a fuck and surrendered those little counties to them because there was no way I could control them and they were much more of a headache than they were worth.
The trick to send the soldiers to vacation for 8 months so that they are resupplied when they report back to duty might work. But I assume the faster approach would be to split up the doomstack so that it regenerates supplies instead of using them up.
As Giurgiu I became Carphatia, then my Queen (reformed Orthodoxy so women are equal) got assasinated and I became an OPM, losing the Emperor title. Then I rage quit
I came across you because I've been Interested in Ck3 and the RUclips algorithm, lol.. but I will say It's a nice Change to have someone who can actually Pronounce the names lmao... Great job liked the vid.
Idk if Tommy will see this but Viking are even more oper. Become a Viking that control's all of their land or just most of it... And build WAR CAMPS. There was this dood on Reddit who had 415 knights
I don't want to say vikings are OP but I've managed to make Sigurd Snake-in-the-eye (you know, who you START with) into King of Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland, then proclaimed myself High King of the Odinsreik and reformed my religion to make myself the God-Emperor of the North Sea - within 40 years. I also captured pretty much every British noble in the world and converted them, so England will be entirely heathen within one or two generations. I love vikings.
To be fair... vikings were OP in real life too... their span of influence was from the Caspian (evidence they traded with China) to Minnesota. A Viking on shrooms was the most dangerous thing for centuries
Yeah you can randomly get land in the middle of nowhere, like somehow as Austria some of my vassals had significant parts of the UK. Granted I did own all of northern italy and southern france but still.
Someone tell tommy the reason denmark just took a bunch of land was probably because tommy had a vassal who didnt have an heir and the next in line was the king of denmark or one of his vassals
Lol, I started as Gardariki and just in a couple of characters I ruled over Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and basically all Kievan Rus. Got maximum fame and piety achievements and reformed faith. Felt too easy tbh.
What the hell happened this episode? Did he try and arrest a chief, fail, get deposed, become the king of Norway and fight a second civil war to reclaim Njolgard?
The reason I believe the AI sometimes just gets like 10k soldiers is that it uses all of it's money to buy mercenaries, making him broke. Just like in victoria 2 was it?
Well, Tommy wants to remake sparta? Well, I did it during my first run with my first few rulers, so that videos going to be pretty short. Still excited tho!
Vikings were crazy OP in CK2; so far, I find it a bit harder in CK3. Thats probably just because I'm bad at the tactics/positioning of armies. Seeing you annihilate an army twice your size kinda proves it. I had like 890 (and what I thought was a good commander) vs 850 and I lost.

Dude, ive seen alot of tommykay. But never have i had tears in my eyes laughing like a 10yo kiddo. The random troops coming out of nowhere coz someone married and called in a thick ally.... The tilt is so typically crusader kings. i love it xD

I find this game fucking strange, in peacetime there is nothing to do but if you start expanding your empire and vassals start to hate you
Unfortunately, you are right about it seeming boring and arcadey during peacetime. I loved CK3 because of the intricacy but understand they want a larger audience and to make the game less intimidating.
Hey Tommy you should play Sparta in the Bronze Age Mod
Okay not gonna lie.. that Pringles ad was pretty good
