The Jets had tons of prospects stuck on the Moose because there were vets in the way.
In case you didnt notice there were some spots that opened up this summer and Chevy hasnt been trying to fill them with free agents or trades.
To me that signals a youth movement. Perfetti, Lucis, Barlow, Chibrikov, Lambert, Yager, etc will all get a shot to earn top 6 minutes.
On defense as much as id like to fire pionk and his contract into the sun nobody is touching that so we get to eat the last year and smile about it. Demelo is a fantastic partner for Morrissey but i still want a true #1 so he be paired with Samburg on the 2nd pair.
Heinola, Salossamon, Stanley and Miller are fine as the 3rd pair/press box

The only Jet prospect you are missing Shannon is the MOST important one - Elias Salomonsson. He's a RHD Swedish 19 y/o with ALL the tools and North American sandpaper. Skates, Shoots, can play dirty, 6'2" / 185 lbs. Many of us Winnipeggers that follow everything Jets expect him to be on the Jets roster at some time this season. Ask Yvonne, she will know. Just buggin ya, but VERY surprised you didn't mention him. Cheers.

I'm just getting the same as last season vibes....Strong in the regular season, poor in the playoffs...Wouldn't be surprised if Hellebuyck regresses a bit...Would be hard to match what he did in the regular season last season...Also wonder if Scheifele takes a step back next season...He's nearly 32 years old, played nearly 800 nhl games.Feeling age and fatigue will catch up to him soon.

Wow. The season hasn't even started and you are already complaining about playoffs. You think you are making an intelligent comment about the "fatigue" of a 32 year old in the prime of his life, but in reality you are simply promoting the bandwagon... get off the bandwagon! Wheels was 36 before the bandwagon caught up to him... hold off on the Sheifele B/S for another few years at least. then you can complain for no reason! besides your feelings and beliefs... why are you not an expert or even close to it? you seem so smart. Honestly, I don't expect us to fall off at all. Last year we were at the forefront of the Central division race all year long, and we didn't really have a 2C for most of the season then either. However Arneil has said he wants to really give the young players a shot so I would not even be surprised if Lambert grabs that 2C spot out of training camp depending on his performance. If he does, him and Perfetti I could see being very dynamic together. Long time viewer, first time commenter, just wanted to pitch in my two cents and hopefully the Canucks do well this season as well so you can enjoy this season more! GJG!!

A year ago we were talking Jets rebuild and wondering if Scheif and Helly were on their way out.
This year we have far less questions, we came off a strong regular season last year, and the players in development are one year closer and some will likely make an appearance this year.
Time will tell if the coaching changes will help this team or not. If they can get the PP and PK up to a top 10 level, team likely has an excellent chance to make the playoffs. Will be interesting to see how it goes this year!

Great thoughts, Shannon!! First and foremost, I love the jersey you're wearing, will have to keep my eyes open for one like that.
I am happy we will get to see the kids get a good tryout for the Jets, it's way overdue, in my opinion. Find the right line combos and we could be cooking.
I'm intrigued with the idea of having Lowry with Nik... they have made magic very occasionally when Bones would put Lowry out on the ice for OT with Nik, Lowry would get the puck, then send it down to Nikky who would come flying down the ice and bury it behind whichever goalie they were playing against. Plus it's kind of a built in bodyguard, Nik gets picked on if he's with smaller linemates. He did do beautifully during that segment of the year when he was with Scheif and Vilardi also so I would hope with the greater emphasis on analytics, that coaches will see Nik's value in zone entries etc and use him accordingly. He is the most exhilarating player on the Jets to watch and is my top favorite (so I'm a wee bit biased LOL).
Eventually, if our newest guy, Brayden Yager, gets a roster spot on the Jets, I'd love to see him centre a line with Nik and Brad Lambert. Helle did 60 games this last year and seemed to run out of energy with that amount of play so ideally if he gets 55, that could help with potential post season success.

In that case they'll be fighting for a wild card spot.
Ideally Helleybuck will play less than 60 games however it could be that much or more depending on how Khakkonen plays and their situation going into the playoffs.
As I said, it should be an interesting year!

With any luck Kahkonen ups his game and provides solid back up minutes and they can keep Hellebuyck under 60 games to try and keep him fresh for playoffs. They had the chance last year to keep Helle's minutes down with Brossoit playing the way he did and they still overloaded Helle so I don't have much hope for that.

They'll make the playoffs, and lose in the first round again, as their so-called top players disappear, again, and they'll get outmuscled, again, and people will defend Chevy, again. The top 6 and blueline are very undersized, and they didn't add a blueliner that possesses a big shot from the point to help the PP. New season, same old story. This is a regular season team that will once again flame out in the playoffs.

      @pomerlain8924 5 дней назад

After 2018, that was the time for this organization to go all in and go after some FAs and build off the success of that season. Instead, they didn't try to re-sign Stastny and let him walk, and didn't try to replace him and just elevated Brian Little to the 2C. That was a huge lost opportunity.
And really, the Jets, are like poorer, but more successful version of Toronto, as they've won 3 playoff series to Toronto's 1. At the same time though, the Jets, like the Leafs, have an ownership group and front office that is absolutely terrified of change and will keep running the same thing back, year after year. And people keep thinking Chevy's doing a good job. Being GM of a team that has 3 series wins in 13 seasons is not the definition of a good job.

The jets will finish the top 3 in the division. Look for Nashville or Dallas to push them out of the 2nd spot....
The Aves will drop to a wild card this season they go alot going on.... and still no goalie
Aves kinda stuck in purgatory waiting for Nuch amd Landy...
Form my understanding the entire jets team have been very vocal this off-season about coming back better. The leaders of that team have pushed...and It sounds like the organization has something to prove. That's the noise, though.

Another season of Hellebuyck carrying this team into the playoffs and if they play him a few less games he might even still have some gas left for the second season. With new a new head coach, he might be tempted to overplay his star goalie for the sake of job security. They could finish anywhere between 2nd and 5th depending on how many games Hellebuyck plays.

Jets, Stars & Blues always seem to be enigmas prior to the regular season commencing.
Jets are a fast, finesse team which wore down opponents during the regular season.
They exposed that during the first game with the Av's, however the Av's made the adjustments & made the Jets play their game which wore the Jets out.
Jets MUST remain with their original game plan.
Roster is fine, Major repairs will have to be made regarding their power play, Just too predictable, Feed it to Connor on the right side, Every opponent knows that.
Penalty kill just needs some fine tuning.
    They should be fine.
