Iowa’s Pheasant Opener | 2023 Rooster Road Trip Ep. 2

Like many hunters on opening day, we woke up way too early in hopes of staking out a spot, and like many others, we realized we’d be sharing a very large tract with unfamiliar faces - but friendly conversations and agreed upon game plans ensured a good time could be safely had by all.
Public land diplomacy notwithstanding, Episode Two of this year’s Rooster Road Trip highlights not only the ever-growing need for more public access opportunities, but also what many in the Hawkeye State had hoped for: a solid rebound in Iowa’s pheasant population.
