    11 yrs ago I purchased a 2004 4.2 stype it had same problem plus coil problem the car was 2500gbp it was 600 to fix. I still drive the car today. 100.000 on clock now . Unbelievable machine. Beautiful place to be every day

      Yeah it's super common for a coil pack to fail and damage the catalytic converter on these

    Could be a fuel pump gone bad. This car has two.

      is kinda tricky and risky so when you have coil pack codes and o2 sensor i had the same issue with my jaguar s type r have coild codes and oxygen sensor so went to autzone they told me to replace 3 of the failing coils and didnt solve the issue then i replace the sensor didnt solved at first restuned the sensor cuz went back to auto zone to run the computer and they keep trowing the same sensor code so they gave me another sensor which it was bad too so then gave me another sensor and then problem solved

    i had this issue with my s type r same problem i was told by mech that i had cat issue and coils pack and o2 sensor misfire ,, so i replace 3 of the failing coils and still having the same problem ,, so i went to jaguar forums and i saw ppl having the same issue i was told that i could have a vacum leak but none of that was the issue ,, the issue was a single o2 sensor , sensor replaced check engine light went off and restricted performance too ,,

      Would your car misfire on the highway ?

      @@qkattp what do you mean misfire on the hwy ,, so the ecu gives me a lot of codes and most of the codes was misfire in some cylinders which could mean bad coil or vacuum leak cat ,, but mine was a simple o2 sensor so if you got misfire codes and o2 sensor go replace sensor first dont start with the coils ,, and dont trust autozone ppl they wanted me to replace timing belt and bunch of stuff

      @@carlossosa2940 typically when I hit 50 my RPM will shoot up to three and four and fight me ,my car was to try to brake on me sometimes it would almost slam on the brakes (as I’m on the gas) but it will happen if my foot not on the peddle , I had some coils changed and some other stuff (I need to get the invoice as I’ve been dealing with for a awhile now ) after they worked on my car it don’t drive the same or anything :( i take it back but they keep charging me so I haven’t gone back for awhile and it seems to be doing better but it’s still hitting me with the restricted performance and then like the misfiring when I’m driving (it will do it between 30-70) they was meant to get my check engine light off, but they were not able to do 😔

    I have a problem with my 2000 Jag S-Type 3.0, when im going up a hill or when I floor it to pass a car or simply when I want to accelerate faster, my check engine light goes on and it says "FAILSAFE MODE". Is it the cats too?

    • @sperez6140
      @sperez6140  5 лет назад

      Ebimelec Adonai my friend it can be multiple things but most likely this Jaguars s type all of them have problems with the C converter, they start off by doing what your car is doing now then it gets worse

    • @sperez6140
      @sperez6140  5 лет назад +3

      Ace Boogie You can go to O’Reillys or AutoZone tell them to check your check engine light, it should say bank one or bank two that’s how you can figure out what side it is that you are having problems with, A Nother tip is whenever it’s cold outside look at your mufflers you can tell which one is blowing more steam and which one is not

    • @uinisekaufusi7061
      @uinisekaufusi7061 5 лет назад

      Actually for the Jagwire and BMWs you can go to O’Reilly and have it checked you have to go to a mechanic I just came from there last week and it won’t read my Jagwire because it’s a special car that needs to be read from a K Mechanic the machine wouldn’t read anything when I took it back into the store I actually did it twice it’s because I have a Jagwire and it won’t read it

    First you said it was the intake manifold gaskets or a stripped bolt. Guess you were wrong.

  • @tombrock508
    @tombrock508 Год назад

    of course a flashing CEL indicates you are dumping un-burned fuel into the cats and they will heat up and burn out the honeycomb inside. However, you have to have a problem like a bad coil or spark plug not firing to dump in un-burned gas in the first place
