Danny showing a bit of love for Villa
I just can't believe my eyes and ears
Did Danny Murphy talk.. SENSE?!? What a weird world we are living in
False flag don’t worry, he finished the clip by saying Liverpool will win the champions league 😅
Of course they are they're playing young boys. Newcastle had PSG Dortmund and Milan... two of them reached the semis and Dortmund the final.
tbf he mentioned the new format will help
He’s referring to the managers experience in europe numb nuts
Of course just ignore the fact that we have Bayern, juventus and Celtic
Mate, Villa have 7 other fixtures & their champions league campaign doesn't stop with Young boys, next Bayern Munich, Juventus, Celtic, Bologna, Monaco,Club Brugge, Leipzig in the league stage,so don't make excuses for Newcastle's failure, although they were robbed in Paris tbh. 😊
We've got bayern next, they've just scored 9 goals lmao
People forget how many players were out for Villa injured
Buendia; Mings; kamara; ramsey- to name but four…
Newcastle got a draw at the San Siro Botman playing with a torn ACL, and were a dodgy penalty from beating PSG home and away with a 17 year old in midfield. We had three goalkeepers on the bench lmao.
@@EnglishWithRichardParkes try that against a major European team and let’s see how you get on!
@@scottdavison5584 People forget that Aston Villa suffered 3 ACL injuries to first team players last season. Mings and Buendia (missed entire 2023/24 campaign), while Kamara also missed the whole second half of the season.
@@temporaryuseraccount0012 plus Moreno and Ramsey for large parts not forgetting the six weeks Torres was out and then we had weeks without Bailey and last month of the season Roger’s
But with Villas no excuses. Culture it all went under the radar
@@jamjam2833 I guess so far we'll just have to go on arsenal and city...
Speaking as a Newcastle fan he's right, they are and good luck to them.
Yeah it's a silly argument, we are better set than you were because we have a manager with success in Europe and played in the Conference League last year to set us up. If Newcastle had played in this format instead of the group of death then you would have easily finished in the top 24 and had a good chance of getting to the last 16.
Villa are better set because of Emery (16 years in a row playing in Europe and winning 4 Europa Leagues). I mean Eddie Howe had his passport done last year it's not even a comparison
I'm a Newcastle fan, and always believed this to be the case
Last year was a learning experience for our whole squad, in both playing and coaching
Emery is vastly experienced with European competition, AND Villa played in Europe just last year still
Not nearly as much of a shock to their system
Think they can do very well
Equally, for what it's worth, thought Newcastle were by no means bad in the Champions League last year.
We had an incredibly tough group (went on to have a finalist, and a semi finalist) and we competed with them til the end, and likely would have progressed had it not been for a dubious handball decision that ultimately changed the rule (yet again)
@@jamesfoster5458agree, Newcastle were great last year but just got really unlucky and were screwed over by decisions in the final match
To be honest, Newcastle should have beaten a very, very poor Milan side at home. They had them on the ropes and Milan had no clue how to get anything out of the geordies. Then for some inexplicable reason, Howe and Tindall bottled it and started changing things around, looking for goals when none were needed. Pretty sure it was Schar who pushed all the way forward, leaving the space behind him which Milan ultimately exploited. The PSG decision was a disgrace, but it shouldn't have mattered. Yet again Howe and Tindall mismanaged the situation, as they did with the lack of game management and squad rotation
it's a moot point because the formats are so different
Agreed, but Villa are in a stronger position than Newcastle were last season. Having said that, if both Newcastle and Villa could spend like the top 6 always have, we would be in an even better position!
I mean he said that 😅
Newcastle probably would've went through if they didn't have over 11 players out injured for half the group stage and have that mental penalty against them in the last second vs PSG. Good luck to Villa but the situations just aren't comparable
And if I had beef in my shepherds pie, it would be a cottage pie, what’s your point? Everyone has injuries, Villa more than most
They wouldn't have got through. They would've got europa
@@jeriswani6062 My main point was the injuries. But they wouldn't have had to go for the win vs Milan and get caught on the counter if they didn't concede the incorrect penalty vs PSG. A draw would've sent them through. Terrible luck.
Yes because Newcastle had PSG, Dortmund and Milan, 2 of which reached the semis 😅
Doesn’t change the fact that Villa is objectively better prepared
😂
But you wouldn't have been in that situation if you had more european experience.
@@jeriswani6062 villa would have been in the exact same situation if they didn't change the format
Murphy talking positively about Villa??? WHAT
What they do when teams are on the up
Miracles do happen.
The world's gone mad. 😂
Strange cuz Danny complimented villa on motd Saturday... He normally got nothing but hate for villa
I would accept that it's too early to read much into it - and the real comparison will be how we do in the other games (except for Bayern). Worth noting that Young Boys were in Pot 3, beat Galatasary home and away to qualify and have been main-stays in the competition. We had a lot of pretty ropey performances in the conference league last year which was largely due to a smaller squad and needing to make wholesale changes. That will undoubtedly help us now - we have a large and far better squad now to manage these games. If we can finish in those top 24 places and get a play off game - then that would be success.
Villa are becoming a team that consistently wins and gets results and with players coming back will only get better
This narrative in comparing Aston Villa to Newcastle is absolute nonsense,Villa have a far better squad & much more quality outside the starting 11 & a manager in Unai Emery that is heading into his 17th season in a row managing in Europe, Eddie Howe was taking Newcastle into Europe for his first time as a manager & didn't have a season in the conference league like Villa playing 14 games which will help them as they're used to handling 2 games a week. Just having Unai's experience in Europe is a massive advantage for Villa & i believe they will do better than most people think, also i don't see them having a big drop off in the league either,i think they'll get top 6 & qualification for European competitions again. 😊
Wouldn’t say villas squad is far better people realise how good of a squad Newcastle have without injuries id say Newcastle have the better players when the squad is fully fit Bruno , Isak are world class if not borderline world class imo then you have Gordon, tonali botman etc Newcastle have the better first 11 I’d say but overall squad Villa probably have the better depth
In a combined XI I'd take at least 6 players from Newcastle. Isak, Gordon, Bruno, Joelinton, Schar, Trippier/Tino at RB walk into that Villa team. And you could also make a case for Barnes, Tonali and Botman.
Goalkeeper, LB, maybe one centre half would get in and RW are the only areas Villa are better. Newcastle battered them 8-2 last season with half the squad unavailable for the Villa Park game
Villas squad is nowhere near as good as Newcastles. Isak scored more goals than Watkins and played 1,000 minutes less 😂😂 Onana and Tielemans in midfield or Bruno G, Joelinton and Tonali? 😂
Newcastle have a far better squad
@@JackEFCby that criteria Duran is better than Isak lol. And Tielemans, Rogers, Ramsey are all brilliant atm, Kamara when fit is excellent, Maatsen and Digne are both great, Bailey obviously as well
Danny Murphy...🤣Newcastle were fine until October - drew with AC Milan and stuffed PSG - massive injures impacted their season...he was right about the group of death though...😁
Villa have a manager that has been there. Howe hadn't. Simple as that
I am a Villa fan through and through however i have a soft spot for Newcastle, always have, and to be totally honest i would love to see both teams finish in the top 6 if not top 4 just to ruffle a lot of feathers.
Its about time there was a change in the hierarchy and both Villa and Newcastle deserve to be there based on the past few seasons.
Villa will fight for top 8, but I predict them to just miss out. So they will have to qualify through play-offs.
Top 8 is very difficult when you consider how many teams are in it.
Newcastle had Dortmund, Milan and PSG.
2 of those made the semi final/final
Villa have played Young Boys. Come back when they play the bigger sides
So bitter pmsl
@@garysherwin3316 not bitter at all just allergic to bullshit. Villa have won one game against some small Swizz side and that's being compared to playing the best sides in Europe
Villa are already hitting injuries and that was before they had their first CL game. They are gonna crumble
@davidwebster5946 a Swiss side that united couldn't beat
@@bugzystalone8915 you mean the team that finished 8th last season?
Young boys yet another small team who only find form playing against big teams...
But losing 0-3 to A Villa at home isn't embarrassing, villa is steadily becoming a big team under "good ebening" aka unai emery...
Idiot
Good win for villa tonight. We got skanked though
Oh yeah against Young boys..I bet they picked their players from a bunch of freshmen in some university
As a Villa fan, we have to respect Newcastle's tough fixtures,in a different format and like us last season decimated by key injuries.
Not sure if the comparison is any help to either team.
If they can avoid losing a dozen players to injury and having to name three keepers on the bench, they certainly will.
Jordan would argue that the sky is green if it were a different opinion to someone else
Simon Jordan, can'tforce himself to pay some respect to Villa, no matter what. What a putz.
Fair play to villa. We had a right old group with some of the best teams in the world. Up the mags
Simon was on the fence villa would not keep it going from last season this his mental state .
Newcastle were in a group with Dortmund (2nd) and PSG (semifinal lost to Dortmund). You can't compare these teams to Young Boys. Let's not forget in the Conference Villa got battered the moment they met decent opposition (Olympiacos).
With a depleted squad due to injuries
Villa had awful injuries by the semi finals and rightfully targeted top four instead
Love the comment from Jordan to Murphy: Emery has come in and been a success after your mate who couldn’t do it ‘
Haha f right on
Sir Simon = Top LAD Proper Clobber 💯 Facts
Of course we are, we had European competition last season to get used to it, and we have unai
Lots of salty Newcastle fans and i don't know why? When you qualified for the champions League most Villa fans appauled you and wished you the best but now the shoes on the other foot its different. Like it or not Villa are in the champions league and your not so pull your socks up, win games, earn points and finish in the top 4 or carry on crying because either way this season it's Villa's turn UTV
Some Newcastle fans sill hold the grudge because of the banners when they went down, 15 years ago...I know one personally who states he will never forgive it. Apparently the term banter doesn't exist in the North East...
@@rustyshackleford4918 I remember that but I also remember loads of other teams laughing at Villa when we got relegated. It's football banter and that's been part of football since the day it was formed! Some of the comments are hilarious "Martinez might get in the Newcastle team but I don't believe he would" is the funniest comment out of them all UTV
I think whats annoying about it for me as Newcastle fan is not the fact villa got top 4 rather then the big 6 but the completely different format which apart from its effect on league form due to extra games is so much easier particularly because of the difficulty of the group newcastle were in. I hope villa go reasonably far in the champions league mostly because it will impact league form but I think its stupid to compare between the teams when you look at the calibre of opponents in the group stage.
@@edpurdy1808 It's stupid to compare the teams full stop because having world class players doesn't make a world class team. You need the actual proper people in charge to motivate, inspire and pull those performances out of the players to begin with. Chelsea have an amazing squad which is better than Newcastle's and Villa's but right now Newcastle and Villa are better teams because they are managed better. This "We have better players" or "He wouldn't get in our team but he does yours" is irrelevant because it's the manager/staff who get them players to actually perform. Also Newcastle can get in this champions league all you have to do is finish in the top 4 again
@@JJSpence15 Lack of respect is different to banter! We laughed at you getting relegated not a player getting injured or a death in the Newcastle family. I got 100's of messages, memes, email's, photos and more of laughter from my footy mates when Villa got relegated. It's funny because it's not your team so that's why they do it but lack of respect is totally different! If let's say your star player gets a career ending injury then laughing is disrespectful, unjustified, disgusting and shouldn't be a part of football but you got relegated that's all and it was a small minority of Villa fans not all of us. Nobody I know held up that sign
Helps when you don’t get the two semi finalists with a side of ac Milan in your group
Excuses don't get you through to the last 16,but you were robbed in Paris tbh.
Wow, a pundit not making baseless claims about Villa having depth issues. And it’s Danny Murphy?? He’s right for once. Villa literally have two teams that could beat Newcastle
Martinez, Digne, Torres, Carlos, Konsa, Kamara, Onana, Tielemans, Rogers, Bailey, Watkins
Olsen, Maatsen, Mings, Bogarde, Cash, McGinn, Barkley, Ramsey, Philogene, Buendia, Duran
And yet last season Newcastle destroyed villa twice. Newcastle had the worst injuries in the league, the hardest fixtures in the cups and hardest league start, played with a makeshift side most the season and still only finished 9pts off UCL. Newcastle fell off a cliff in December when nick pope got injured. They suddenly started conceding for fun. Not only is dubravka a washed keeper but his playing style changed Newcastles playing style.
The probability is Newcastle wont have the same level of injuries and bans like last season. With no European football to get in the way I'd imagine they'll have a good season and be one of the favourites for UCL qualification.
Villa control games better, both in possession and out. Not saying we're a better side, but we control games better. We conserve energy and control the tempo.
You played no one, and beat you right now home or away.
@@iflgames3245mate you’ve been awful so far this season, pipe down.

Sob on the Tyne! 😭
I cant state this enough!! Newcastle got top 4 without playing european football.. .villa get there playing european footballl, further than any other british team in europe.
Also, weve had a net spend of +£6.5m
Villa are better set for the UCL than Newcastle.
The main reason being Villa have a manager in Emery who knows how to navigate between Domestic and European football whereas Howe who is a brilliant manager had never managed in Europe until last season and therefore struggled to manage player minutes.
I also think Villa have a deeper squad this season than what New castle had last season.
And an easier set of fixtures👍🏻

Yeah ofcourse they are, look at who newcastle had in their UCL group last year. Nothing against Villa by saying this, I think they will cause alot of teams problems this year. Emery is a top manager
It's the fact that we 13 years of Ashley that went against us, when the rest of the deadwood is cleared out is when you'll see the new Newcastle
The years of mismanagement at Villa can match your time under Ashley, dark times. 😂
Did Danny Murphy just pay Aston Villa a compliment?? We are through the looking glass here people......
No offence to young boys. They aren’t who we had
Villa will finish mid table
Did Danny Murphy back villa? The end of times are near
Villa have a better team now than Newcastle did last year so yes we are better equipped. We also have a vastly more experienced manager and staff than Eddie Howe. But Newcastle world also have beaten Young Boys then and now. And Newcastle had a proper tough group last year. Yes Villa are better but the format this year favours Villa
Jordan and everyone else just don't like villa.
Villa have a great squad.
Villa and emery can do a decent run in the ucl
That's hardly a controversial take. Villa has a much higher floor than Newcastle and Emery took over a far superior squad to that which Howe inherited. Not to mention a steadier growth than Newcastle's sudden, meteoric rise.
Howes been at Newcastle longer than Emery at Villa. 😂
@@amlmorris if you stop and think about this argument, you'll realise how stupid it was
Danny, Liverpool will be up there, Jim, think Bayern will be up there, riveting, LP will win diddly squat because they can't play tiki taka and Slot does not rotate
Villa playing Young Boys, Newcastle playing AC Milan, PSG and Dortmund. Erm... Really. Why can Villa spend more under PSR than Newcastle?
Maybe selling over £140m worth of players helps.
Isak tonali and Bruno G cost newcastle £153m in transfer fees for less than that villa signed kamara tielemans mcginn cash bailey konsa torres watkins rogers and duran. Villas squad cost over £100m less than newcastles. We don't spend more. We spend better.
Also got Bayern, juve, monaco, Derby with celtic.

Format and fixture list helps villa too - a group with PSG Dortmund Milan is much tougher.
Villa have Bayern Munich best team in Germany who just beat their last team by 9 goals lol then Juventus best team in Italy who can beat anyone on their day. Plus a few others like Monaco etc. there’s literally the same threat as Newcastle’s group lol.
Nufc Vs villa agg 8-2 😂 nufc Vs psg ,Milan, Dortmund
Villa Vs Bayern 😂
Come on newcastle had the group of death villa are playing young boys its nowhere near the same
Yes, Villa have a broader more robust squad going into the UCL. Newcastle are still vulnerable to injuries 18 months later. They haven't adressed it.
They literally hired a injury specialist to what are you talking about haven’t addressed it?
Danny Murphy praising Villa? That’s a first
Obviously! Do you remember who was in Newcastle's group.
In other news, water is wet.
Danny Murphy spot on 👍

Well Eddie Howe is an absolute rookie in Europe.
No business in comparing him to Emery
Villa wouldn’t of got out that group last season
@@jm11111we’ll never know. They certainly would’ve stood a good chance considering Emery’s track record and Villa’s ability to be giant killers
Villa have tried to copy everything Newcastle have done, I was reading it on Facebook. They are trying their best to copy Newcastles route to the top a bit like people tried to follow city’s route when they first got took over - Newcastle have had to start keeping info in house from what I was reading because Villa are trying to literally copy everything they do.
1) Newcastle move to Castore, Villa copy
2) Newcastle speak to Emery, Villa copy
3) Newcastle move to Adidas, Villa copy
4) Newcastle speak to Diaby, Villa copy
5) Newcastle speak to Carlos, Villa copy
6) Newcastle get top 4, Villa copy
7) Newcastle open a fan park outside the stadium, Villa release plans to open a fan park outside the stadium.
8) Newcastle are in talks with Sofi and brought in Darren eales who was in charge of Atlanta Uniteds stadium which is the best in the world (Villa will no doubt copy this too)
The funniest part I read was Villa finished 4th and got $10M from adidas, Newcastle finished 7th and got $50M from adidas which I think tells you that even adidas are putting their faith in Newcastle and not Villa.
I can’t stand Villa what so ever, I’m an Everton fan but it’s soo obvious what they are doing, trying to copy Newcastles route to the top. It’s embarrassing. I’ve even seen Villa fans saying they are sick of copying everything Newcastle do😂 I’ve got screenshots of them saying it haha

Newcastle have the better first XI. Bruno and Isak are 2 of the best players in the league - Villa dont really have anyone on that level. Gordon, Joelinton, Schar and Tripps at Tino at RB are all better than what Villa have.
Villa perhaps have the edge with squad depth but considering Newcastle had Willock, Barnes, Trippier, Tonali on the bench last weekend Id say thats very close too
Isak better than Watkins? Yea right.
Theres not much in it between Watkins and Isak, I would take Isak as he's younger.
Digne and Maatsen are better than what you have at LB.
Our midfield is stronger with Onana, Tielemens, Kamara, Barkley. Bruno would get into our team no doubt.
Our defence is better with Konsa and Pau although RB is a weakness.
Our back up striker is levels ahead of yours.

Duran scores mostly worldies and Watkins has never been a deadly finisher.
At the end of the day, we're both gonna be bias towards our own teams. For me, McGinn is half the player Joelinton is, Onana has made a bright start but looked very average at Everton and Belgium. Kamara is the only midfielder I'd see in a midfield 3. But yeah, it's all subjective
