Really enjoying the process, no other RUclips Portugal reno/build channel is working with a timber frame construction.
Would like to hear from the Architect/Construction PM do a cost comparison of Traditional(Local) construction methods vs Timber frame.

Yeah we looked everywhere for new-build videos in Portugal. Loads of friends wanted to learn about it, so started the channel. Quite a few reasons we went for woodframe all covered in or blog, but the materials are top notch and the comfort levels will be another level, but extremely cheap to run.

It's very tempting indeed. How do you think wood will fare with humidity?

@@HelderP1337 hi, we have planned the design with the architect giving great advice. I was raised in a wood frame house, and I remember how comfortable it was. Wood is a natural product and unlike concrete allows moisture to evaporate away. This is also aided by having underfloor heating to keep the house arca constant temperature and aided further by having MVHR to keep the moisture away by ventilation.

Did you guys ever shared the estimated cost for this property, when all is said and done? Curious to know the difference of new construction using regular orange brick, vs tinber / wood.

Ah, that’s because it is not all said and done 😉. Will try and give some ideas when we are done. We don’t have full breakdowns where we have brought in other builders/services. 🤞🏻

Taking a long time to complete

Yeah, it’s Portugal though. We have gotten used to waiting sadly. We had major renovations done in the UK completed in 3 weeks, but everything is much slower here. Everyone who is intending to build here needs to know it 😆

Yeah, I love my home country, but that's indeed a little annoying how slow everything moves.
But hey, ironically, it's one of the reasons many move to Portugal, the slower pace of life.
So you want slow, you get slow.

@@HelderP1337 Absolutely, you have to accept it all. We know a few Portuguese that are moving back from different countries too. Their expectations are also from their adopted countries 😂😂
