Head Modeling Tutorial Part2 | Learn Maya

This is a Human Head Modeling Tutorial in detail in Maya. I have done the modeling in 2 parts. Here I have described the topology in detail. The basic knowledge of Maya tools is required. If you are a fresher you can go through my previous beginners’ tutorials first.

Excellent tutorial you did a great job telling the steps. Mine did not came out like you're but closed. One thing the sculpting tool in my end did not have that circle just a small square and every time I hit some are of the model it shring the model. good job.

You can double click on the tool and open tool setting. There you choose the size and strength of the brush. Hope it will help you.

Do you model with keyboard+mouse? or graphic tablet?i would like to start learning modeling, but i dont know should i buy the tablet first, or i can start with the mouse to see if this is my kind of stuff, or with drawing tablet the proces is very different?

A mouse will do you just fine, especially when starting out! A tablet may make things more difficult if you are new to the software. Wishing you all the best!

How are you sliding the edges ??? And what is spinning is used for? I mean what purpose.?

You can slide edges by Slide Edge Loop Tool. Spinning is for correcting the topology, specially the direction.

I got stuck when triangle at lower part of ear magically turned into quad in video.

Actually I kept 2triangles both upward and at the lower part. So later when I gave a loop in between, both the triangles are converted into quads.

i cannot select more than one vert (by making a box with the mouse) without selecting verts on the other side of the face. And i'm not sure how to turn this off.

Actually don't select by making a box. When your target is one vertex then only click on it to select. If you want to grow your selection hold Shift and keep clicking what you want to select. Hope it helps. 🙂.

im stuck at 20:15.. in this video for that part, you selected 7 face.. but my only have 6 faces

i try to look back at previous part, i realize at 1:19, the ear part consume 3x4 faces
