As a mercury and suzuki technician Im happy to see honda joining the big boys in their outboards

Its 5.0L V8 ? I bet it have VTEC man must have like 350 HP with like 325 lb of torque. I always thought the 3.0 3.2 3.5 3.7 J Series V6 VTEC engines where more then enough. But nice to see the V8 finanlly.
@@nighthawkj30A4 Yeppers, per their brochure - displacement is 4952cc (302 cubic ins.) And it does have VTEC

@@nighthawkj30A4 You are more or less right on the HP/TQ figures. CARB EO page says 350 HP at 5500 RPM and 323 lbs-ft at 4000 RPM.

how come you can make a V8 for a boat but not for your cars? I want a V8 RWD accord type-r, none of that CVT hybrid nonsense
It’s probably another manufacturers engine just with a Honda cowling. Joint ventures take place all the time with automotive and marine manufacturers. Honda makes all of Tohatsu bigger horsepower outboard engines for them. Tohatsu builds the smaller HP engines for Mercury.
It's coming my friend. They have to make sure it's almost perfect before it comes out

Nice job Honda. Really glad to see this. I'll never own one but love that Honda is innovating in this market. Extremely reliable products. I have a BF90 on our small speed boat and it rips and sips. Based on the V-Tec inline 4 cylinder from the Honda Fit but mounted with the cylinders vertical. Quiet, smooth, fast, and very easy on fuel.

I like honda productions 5.0l v8 engines
5.0 man I can't wait to see one, you know its going to be a breast. For yamaha is a 4.2 liter and suzuki it's a 4.4 liter
if Honda can make a private jet, then creating a modern powerful outboard should be a piece of cake.
New products always have issues. but as long as Honda stays true to their "reliability" these should be good motors.

Put a V8 in the car. I will keep my 2003 V6. manual transmission before i touch 4 cylinder turbo.
Boost is so lame unless it makes sense...they boosting everything 4cyl just put a v6 engine instead

Honda has NEVER made a purpose built marine engine except their small outboards. This fact makes me skeptical that this specific engine was only made for Honda’s large HP outboards. What I would like to know is where did this engine actually come from. What I mean is which automotive production line did this originate from? Is it actually a Honda engine or possibly a Ford product or maybe some other brand? IDK, again, because Honda does not have a 5.0 liter engine in anything else and I doubt they designed, engineered, durability tested, manufactured and mass produced this engine for ONE PURPOSE ONLY to be an outboard engine for only a 350hp boat engine. I mean, Honda has such a small market share anyway and the large HP engine segment is small anyway it’s just not financially practical for this to be a Honda purpose built engine.

Honda and Marine yes they can build engines but their Marine understandig is poor salt water protection instruments propellers brackets under water house gear boxes in all this and more items Yamaha and Mercury are the leading brands

It is unbelievably ugly, they need to make it boxy and practical-looking like the outboards from the 1990s. Hopefully is sounds good though
