I haven’t scrapbooked in a few years it’s been all locked up in my moms storage, I’ve been wanting to get back into it but I haven’t had much space in my apartment to do it but I just went thru it to clean it out and I got rid of some of it but I’m so happy now I usually do family pictures I have so many I need to print off. I need to make a little space for my crafting projects
Most of my paper scrapping is holidays or seasons. Works for me by season then holiday in that season. These ideas will work! Thanks! And yes, all of one collection together! Sandy
Just found this video today but have watched some of your other videos. I have scrapbooked for over 20 years but have been so unorganised since moving to a new house at age 60, 10 years ago, after a marriage breakdown. Don't think I was in the right headspace. Over that ten years I also remarried and then lost my husband 5 months ago. Part of moving forward without him is moving my scrapbooking to his study. It's a huge job!! I am amazed at what I have still in shopping bags with receipts. I too like vertical storage and have done all my cardstock by rainbow in plastic holders similar to your cardboard ones in the rainbow system. I have a heap so they don't bend but was wary of doing my patterned paper that way. I have done my scraps as well in a similar system to you. I too like to keep kits together and then when they are exhausted then put into the rainbow system. I live in Australia so will keep an eye out for some of those envelopes. I ike that you can label the spine as well. Thank you for keeping me motivated.
Hello. Thanks for doing this video. I have gone from living in a house with adequate craft space to traveling in a 5th wheel. I need to have a way to keep things better organized. I love the idea of your pockets from Hobby Lobby. I think they will work perfect to keep my paper from sliding everywhere.
Oooh! I just thought of something. Since I'm packing these sturdy paper holders from HL too full, I could only put paper in it. Then, I could add a label on the front telling me where the companion embellishments are. I could do that with all of my paper collections and then all of the respective embellishments would be clearly marked, as well, and stored in a place for all of my paper collection embellishments. Then I'll make an inventory list. I'll try this. Because I DO really love these paper holders...I just don't want the little front tab to break off. Thank you SO much Jessica! You totally inspired me!!
I just wanted to say something about the paper box vertical storage. If you lay them on their side, you don't have to pull the box out from the shelf to access the paper. You can easily flip through paper and pull the piece out you want. Since I am not pulling these box in and out they do not get wear and tear and serve their purpose. Just wanted to share.
@@JessicaGraceDesigns Thanks so much for helping me w organization. I never identified my process of sorting but now I know I actually have one. Blessings to you for sharing!
When I moved into my new scraproom I did a total revamp and purchased Ikea cubes (2x8) and the paper storage boxes from Stamp & Storage. The S&S boxes are expensive but I bought 1 a month until I had the number of boxes I needed. It is a game changer! We made an island out of the Ikea cube units and one side is cardstock sorted by color in the CTMH catalog and the other side of the unit is all of my kits and pattern paper. I no longer have paper mountains and it only takes minutes to locate any cardstock, kit , or pattern paper.
I'm looking for ideas how to store my paper so I'm so glad found your channel and this video in particular. Thank you for taking the time and giving your advise on the items you showed. I subscribed.
This was extremely helpful to me. A few months ago I split up all my paper and organized it by pattern (florals, polka dots, stripes etc.). I thought that is how I scrapped. I haven't really had the mojo to scrapbook until recently. And every time I got to scrap, it drives me crazy trying to find coordinating paper. I don't usually buy in collections, but I find that when I do, I like to keep them together. When I split them up, I'm forever trying to find the pieces that go together. So I have learned not to split those up. But, now I think after watching your video, that I scrap more by color than anything else. If I were to sort my paper by color or colors that go together, I think I'd find what I need quicker. Thank you! I have the containers, just didn't have the right system :)
I love the idea of the 12x12 plastic envelopes and had no idea they were that affordable. I will be keeping an eye out for those. Love the video! Thankyou! and can i say, that the handles on those are a game changer!! lol
Awesome video for a new crafter who accumulated lots of stuff that has taken over her small living space! Thank you so, so much for sharing your journey!! I will be watching many more of your videos!!
I'm a new subscriber so I just found this video. I'm so glad you are telling your viewers that one size does not fit all! You really do have to organize by how you scrap and how much room you have. For years, I had to use the kitchen table...we didn't have an extra room for my hobby. Once the girls were out of college and I knew it was safe to transform one of the bedrooms into a craft room, I did. But it still has to function as a guest room. Space is limited so I really have to be organized, and I make sure I organize according to how I scrap and make cards. Keep doing these types of videos! They are very helpful even for someone like me with old habits!
Thank you so much for this video. Loved the idea to show what you used to use. Great for someone like me who is just getting ready to move out of the sterilites on wheels and right to something that will work right away. (Mind you ,they have worked great but agree the same as papers laying flat). Lots of time and money saved.
Great video! Love process videos where we hear your thoughts, how it works and alternatives. I feel like I’ve also gone through the same stages for storage , and use a mix of them depending on the paper / purpose. Comment for @ 35:00 - I think a bonus benefit for the way you store the papers by color (and go by the favorite side for which color you put it in) is when you need another pink, you also have a few “b side” neutrals or coordinating colors, so when you need an accent, your scraps already have a match so you don’t have to go looking.
I just found you this really early morning (630am) when I was trying to figure out best way for paper storage/organizing! Love these ideas and had planned to head to HL today after work. I agree laying flat is really a pain and time waster when looking for certain colors/patterns/kits. I’ve subbed and will e definitely check out other craft storage vids since I’ve been purging and organizing my room for several months now.
I'm getting ready to organize my scrapbook room/home office and this was helpful to me! I agree with you on the flat storage having to dig through hundreds of sheets of paper every time you want something! I spend more time looking for paper than I do scrapbooking when I'm at a crop. I'm going to use your idea from another video to make kits ahead of time. I'm a pretty new subscriber and am backtracking through your videos! I enjoy your videos and ideas so very much Jessica!
Such a great video; so many useful tips. I am definitely someone who generally scraps by colour, unless the theme is obvious & can't really be any other theme. Christmas is Christmas. Camping, or travel are very theme-y. But generally, I discovered that 'family' or 'kid' themed collections are so generic that there's any number of pages I'd use them on, so organizing by that kind of theme is not going to work for me. Even with the travel stuff, I pull out the more generic stuff & store it by colour (or pattern). Basically, i got all my paper categories figured out, put them in the cube inserts (the fabric ones from Ikea for the Kallax) and realized that if I just left the paper loose in the cube, the cubes were FAR too heavy for me to access . The inserts may have been a mistake, though if I find affordable folders/holders like some of the ones you have showed here in Canada, I think I could pull out one category with ease.
I use the 12 x 12 cardboard boxes for my current projects (chronological album pages, heritage album pages, and current album pages). I store paper and embellishments I think I might use for the next few pages.
Thank you so much for your advice on scrapbook paper organization. I’m not a scrapbooker, but I am a artist, and card maker been struggling with this for a while❣️
This is a great video. I will be headed to hobby lobby to pick up some envelopes. I'm moving into my new craft room and wanting to reorganize my papers.
Thank you for sharing! I too have been on a similar storage evolution. I’m going to try the envelope idea, I use them now but this gives me anew perspective... I’m a traveling scrapper so i think this will be super helpful! 🌞
Yeah but do you really love this paper storage system? 🤣 I’m kidding of course, oh I get so worked up when I find a game changer for my craft room too. Thanks so much for sharing, I’m learning so many great new ideas!
I have about 24 of the 3 drawer sterilite containers to organize my paper. Each is labelled with the contents. They surround my workspace and are organized to be easily accessed as I work. Also, the drawers can easily be removed to move from place to place in my room depending on where I work. Contents then can be returned to the drawer and put back in their original spot. It has worked for me during my long crafting career.
Thank you! I think the most important thing I found to crafting is to find an organization solution and make an inventory list because crafting gets out of hand quickly TFS
You're going to think I'm nuts but I usually find myself looking for a specific color, like a neutral or a blue, so I took apart every single 12" paper pad I had (about 30 of them) and sorted them into color families. I have one grouping of mermaid paper, and one for christmas.
this was a great video TFS!, im also currently in the process of fixing my craft room organisation and storage and need new ways to store all my scrap paper collections as my current storage i find is too cluttered so this has given me plenty of ideas tysm for sharing :D
I store papers similar to you, except I use a file cabinet from the Michaels line of storage furniture. I organize by solid color and pattern. So all solids are by color and all stripes are together, florals together, etc. I also have categories by topic. Birthday, even if it’s not bday to someone else... if it is to me- it goes in bday file. We had a Toy story bday party, so those papers go in bday. I do the same for embellishments, but I use the Iris bins for embellishments and it’s kind of on my nerves to dig through. Thx for the storage video series. Useful to hear how others do it.
I am a card maker and am crafting as my job lol i supply a small shop here in town with cards, i feel like i am busting at the seems with stuff and desperatly need a system.. i am constantly buying new stuff and of course i already have it i just cant find it.. my space is in my den i have a closet a 9 drawer dresser and 2 book shelves to work with.. i also subscribe to echo park kit club but never get to using it so i like the idea that you leave it out until you use it..
Oh I am envious of you being a crafter full time. I still have trouble with buying something I already own. Overtime it gets better as you find a system that works. You can do it!
Hi! I absolutely loved this video! You are very articulate and have a wonderful way of explaining things. I, also, have watched your video many times. So, after the first time, I went on to Hobby Lobby's website and ordered a bunch of the sturdy paper holders for collections. I love this concept, because I am a "keep the collection together" kind of scrapper. The only thing is...I so badly want to love this product, but the front closure tab has broken on several. I think, perhaps, I'm putting too many 3D small ephemera like flowers and things in there and then it makes the holder too full. Also, I have realized that everything needs to be BEHIND where the side ends meet the front ends, because I've had things fall out. As I said, I love the concept, I'm just wondering if they could make the sides more closed so things don't fall out. I would even pay a little bit more for this feature, because as is, it is already pretty reasonable, I think. Thank you so much for sharing this! I'll keep trying to make them work!
Thank you 😀 I have found I have had to two form the sides with packaging tape on a few occasions unfortunately, I do agree it is a slight design flaw. I find I need to store my bulkier embellishments in a different bin, I just always make sure I look there when I pull a collection out. I hope you find a system that works for you ☺️
I am currently trying to re-organize my space and I just found this video today. It’s great information!!! Thank you so much for your product reviews. Just curious, do you still use this same paper storage system??
I'm in the process of trying your paper storage system. My hobby lobby refuse to sell the $4.99 storage envelopes at half price. I think I'll try a different Hobby Lobby.
I am so sorry to hear :( I do know they recently removed the paper shop product logo from those envelopes, so they no longer go on sale at my Hobby Lobby either. Hope you find a way to work it out, worst case you came always use the 40% off coupon. Best of luck to you!!

Hiya great video. Im very new to this scrapbooking and i have a bit of a silly question... Is there a difference between a "kit" and a "collection" please? Im just trying to get a handle on terminology. I am currently using project life to go back and documnet my sons life. (I had photo albums, so have photos, dates, ticket stubs etc) But just want to condense it and make it nicer. I have signed up for monthly kits but thinking of getting some kits for like birthdays, beach days, Christmas so i can do some full page spreads too. After watching your video im thinking of an envelope for birthdays and one for Christmas etc and them seperate ones for each month....does that sound like a good idea? Many thanks
Thank you so much!!! This video is full of great info! I scrapbook much like you so all the advise works. I will head to Hobby Lobby to get these envelopes! Thanks again! New subbie here!
I am a holiday scrapper only for most every holiday. And I am in multiple swaps for each....what I have got from this video. Is.... I HAVE TOO MUCH OF EVERYTHING. Psper, ephemera, ribbon, you name it....so paring down has to happen first ....or do I organize each holiday and then pare them down? Help please! Sandy
Hi Sandy! I would start with thinking about when you go to create, how do you start/plan for your project? My assumption is you decide first what Holiday, then proceed with seeking out the items for your project. If that is the case, I would recommend sorting by holiday, then with each holiday, categorize your supplies . I would all have a general category that is the home for all your papers, ribbons and other supplies that you use for all projects, but maybe organize those by type/color. Hope this helps!
I would like my paper to be stored vertical after you put paper in the folder, did you say you placed them in a bin 13x13 (Walmart or Target) is that what I understood, you didn’t show the bins, correct. Thanks insight and direction
Apologies if I was unclear but you hit it. I get the cube units that are 13x13 size from Walmart (Better Homes and Gardens brand) or Target (Threahold) and the folders stand up perfectly in those cubes :)
Thank you for showcasing the paper holders. I bought 12 when they were on sale and they fit perfectly into the Target cube unit I have. I just ordered another 24 . I just love how neatly everything looks and having the handles makes it sooo easy to pull out and get the papers/kits.
BlackCatNoni you are so welcome! Those are by far my favorite storage item! I also love how neat and organized my papers are and so easy to find! Thanks so much for watching 😊
Your video was very helpful! Thank you SO much!! I like how you explained 3 different ways we scrapbook, therefore our storage should follow that! I have a ton of CTMH collections that I have used and then I store in their original plastic ziplock bags so it’s all together. Would you separate it out by color? Or would you keep it together?
Hi Michele! You are so welcome, I am glad you found it helpful! as for CTMH or any other manufacturer for that matter, I keep the collections together until there is little left, then I file by color. That method has worked really well for me.
Hi there! Glad it was helpful, all product links are in the description, but here is the one for the firm project folders :) ruclips.net/user/redirect?event=video_description&v=C0tRzQzM1f4&q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hobbylobby.com%2FScrapbook-Paper-Crafts%2FStorage-Organization%2FPaper-Holder---12-x-12%2Fp%2F76070&redir_token=UXN9qhENK6j5VsZ85ivQ-wEu-X58MTU5MTIxNzU4NEAxNTkxMTMxMTg0
How do you decide when it’s a double sided pattern paper which color to file it under? Also when do you decide that a paper 12 x 12 should be filed into the scrap section? For instance if I cut out or fussy cut a piece from a 12 x 12 , so there’s still The majority of the paper left but its no longer a 12 x 12 is that considered a scrap or do you keep it in with your 12 x 12 paper still? if that makes sense? This drives me crazy because it seems too big to be in my scrap bin but it’s not a complete 12 x 12 LOL maybe this is a crazy question but just wondered your thoughts. Thank you!!
Pink Paper Dots So For the double sided paper question, I first choose the side I like best, then I determine what color appears the most or if I was going to pair coordinating cardstock with the patter paper, what would that be? So if it’s a floral design with pink and blue flowers, if there were more pink than blue, I’d file it with other pink papers, if the blue was very over powering, I would file the paper under blues. And when I am unsure, I file it under multi color 😊
As for the scraps, unusually don’t consider it a scrap until it reaches 6x12 in size or I have fussy cut a bunch of pieces out of it randomly. I guess I never really thought about how I determined when a scrap was a scrap, it’s a really good question!! Thanks for watching! I am glad you found it helpful 😊
Jessica Grace thank you! That helps. I asked these questions mid-video (pauses it) and then I realized that you answered one of my questions in your video so I guess I should watch the entire video before asking questions next time! Thank you though. 😊This paper organizing situation has literally been such a struggle for me and I’ve watched s bunch of videos and finally I found yours and I LOVE it! This is definitely going to be how I organize my papers! Yay! My other HUGE problem is how to organize all of my ephemera and all the little bits that you add when making embellishments? Do you have a video on that? Thanks so much!
Pink Paper Dots Haha, no worries I am happy to help and answer questions whenever I can 😊. I am so glad you found this helpful, it is truly the best system for paper I have found to date. I do have a couple of videos on ephemera and embellishments, however that is an area I am still trying to find the perfect solution for and am testing some other ideas right now, so more to come on that topic 😊 if you go to my channel the videos I do have are under storage and organization playlist. Please let me know if you have trouble finding them. Enjoy organizing your papers!!
Hi! I´m from Denmark and trying to find the envelopes you are using. But Hobbylobby would not allow me to get on the website. So my quistion is, what is the name on the envelopes, and who makes them?
Anna-Maria Bøgholm Frederiksen Hi there! Sorry about the link :( those are called Storage Paper Holder 12.5”x12.5”x1” they used to be made by The Paper Studio, but now it looks like it’s solely a product of Hobby Lobby. I hope this helps 😊
It's not your link that is wrong. It's just that I'm from Denmark, and have a Danish IP-adress 🤷♀️😅 So HobbyLobby would not allow me to get in to their website. Thanks for you answer. I have to find a way to buy them, but I see that would not be easy them 😂
Anna-Maria Bøgholm Frederiksen Oh bummer! There may be similar options on Amazon, just slightly more expensive I think. I hope you can find them! Good luck 😊
Great question! I am still using the Hobby Lobby 12x12 Paper Holders, been using it for years and is my favorite! As for my 6x8 papers, I use the mesh zipper pouches from Amazon which are linked in my amazon store if interested.

Thank you! I think the most important thing I found to crafting is to find an organization solution and make an inventory list because crafting gets out of hand quickly TFS
Sra Perla Rose you are so right! 😀
New subbie here, I believe I have gone thru a few of your trying ideas but you have given me a few new alternatives thanks for your shares 😊🇨🇦
Eleanor Cormier Thanks for subscribing! I am so happy to hear the videos have been helpful 😍
Very helpful
You're going to think I'm nuts but I usually find myself looking for a specific color, like a neutral or a blue, so I took apart every single 12" paper pad I had (about 30 of them) and sorted them into color families. I have one grouping of mermaid paper, and one for christmas.
Not at all! You have to organize in whatever way works best for you. Has it worked for you?
Very helpful thanks!
this was a great video TFS!, im also currently in the process of fixing my craft room organisation and storage and need new ways to store all my scrap paper collections as my current storage i find is too cluttered so this has given me plenty of ideas tysm for sharing :D
Silvers Lifestyle Vlog si glad to hear it was helpful! Good luck reorganizing and thank you for watching 😀
The black box you can use for page layout that you are working on. The pictures and papers can go in there with the pages.
That’s a great idea, thanks for sharing!
I need these envelopes Thank You for sharing
NonnaBeths Crafts2Be By far my favorite storage item. You are so welcome and thanks for watching!! 😀
Thanks for sharing your storage methods, it sounds like we do store in a very similar fashion. 😀
Sort by color is the way to go. Then sub divide by genre if you have that much. Mine was trial and error as well.
So helpful! Thankyou.
You’re welcome 😊
You are so welcome! I still use this system and still love it just as much :)
What is the name of the heavier envelopes and where can you find them? Great information
Those are 12x1 Paper holder from Hobby Lobby: www.hobbylobby.com/Scrapbook-Paper-Crafts/Storage-Organization/Paper-Holder---12-x-12/p/76070?queryId=81a8b9cb6049613e4e1daeea162e4aa5
Many thanks
I use them interchangeably, lol. Apologies if I confused you. Unsure if there is a difference TBH.
Thank you so much!!! This video is full of great info! I scrapbook much like you so all the advise works. I will head to Hobby Lobby to get these envelopes! Thanks again! New subbie here!
Sarah M you are so welcome!! I am glad it was helpful and thanks for subscribing 😃
A great video with very helpful tips! Where do you find the envelopes toy currently use? I'd like to try this method.
I've been searching for the envelopes and I cannot find them! Can you share with me the specific name of the envelopes? Thank you!
Hi there! Glad it was helpful, all product links are in the description, but here is the one for the firm project folders :) ruclips.net/user/redirect?event=video_description&v=C0tRzQzM1f4&q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hobbylobby.com%2FScrapbook-Paper-Crafts%2FStorage-Organization%2FPaper-Holder---12-x-12%2Fp%2F76070&redir_token=UXN9qhENK6j5VsZ85ivQ-wEu-X58MTU5MTIxNzU4NEAxNTkxMTMxMTg0
I found them! I grabbed the last two. Thanks so much!
Do the Sterlite container stack? I have some that are just like tgese you have, but mine don't stack...?
Vicki Garvey They do. I got mine from Walmart a few years ago though, maybe they changed the design?
❤
From where did you buy this plz tell me
Samreenmohsin Khan Hobby Lobby :) they are paper files 12x12 link in description
Anna-Maria Bøgholm Frederiksen sku#655621 if that helps 😊
It's not your link that is wrong. It's just that I'm from Denmark, and have a Danish IP-adress 🤷♀️😅
So HobbyLobby would not allow me to get in to their website.
Thanks for you answer. I have to find a way to buy them, but I see that would not be easy them 😂
Anna-Maria Bøgholm Frederiksen Oh bummer! There may be similar options on Amazon, just slightly more expensive I think. I hope you can find them! Good luck 😊
@@JessicaGraceDesigns maybe I will give it a try 😊 or ask a friend in USA for help 😅🤞
We’re could I find the envelope please
What paper storage do you use in 2024?
Great question! I am still using the Hobby Lobby 12x12 Paper Holders, been using it for years and is my favorite! As for my 6x8 papers, I use the mesh zipper pouches from Amazon which are linked in my amazon store if interested.
None of the Hobby lobby links work.😯
Oh no! This must have changed with Hobby Lobby. So sorry, I’ll see if I can update the links. I appreciate you letting me know.
Less talking would be best. Literally fast forwarded through this whole video 🙄
Appreciate the feedback, I know I am chatty, apologies.
Sooooo helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
