i think this song sounds awesome, theyre straying from the hardcore sound to more of a thrash metal sound. I personally think it sounds awesome and hope they do more songs like this.
Even without screaming Trivium is so fucking incredible, It's amazing how they can still make a 100% pure thrash album, but then right after, make a 100% pure thrash album WITH screaming, amazing band :)
They were on the right path until everyone complained how much they sounded like Metallica. Now we have opera singing, down tuned, over produced Trivium.
I know this comment is a year old but do you think The Crusade, particularly Detonation was too ahead of its time? I feel the fan base at the time we’re expecting Ascendancy Part 2. Detonation is such a badass song and it definitely stands out for its technicality and unique sound. When I first heard it however I didn’t like it ( I was still in a Killswitch/BMV phase) but after years of listening to black metal/death/extreme, I see the Crusade in a whole new light.
@@jayc9940 Not ahead of its time, but ahead of its fanbase. Their fanbase was very 1-dimensional to begin with, so the album would be under-appreciated no matter when else it would've come out. But you make a good point and I think it was a factor as well. Their fanbase at the time consisted of mostly teenagers and young people, and Trivium very likely was their first metal band they enjoyed so their first albums shaped their tastes in metal.
I still remember my jaw drop when I heard Matt sing clean vocals through out the whole song. At first, I was like "THIS SHIT IS SO BAD" then it slowly grew on me. Especially after I heard Entrance for the first time.
Obsessed with this band ?? hah im so am damn obsessed i bought their t-shirts cds constantly watching their music videos have posters of matt heafy i love them cant seem to get over them at all so freaking hard its like addiction to drugs !!! who's with me ???
This is the very first Video or 1 of the very first Video’s I watched of Trivium on RUclips, I very first heard of Trivium in 2007 but this Video was in 2006. 😊👍🥁🎤🎸🤘🤘
Check out my channel for a Backstage Interview with Trivium and Slipknot!! What band had Trivium starstruck? What has been their never dreamed in a million years moment? What does Trivium think about Slipknots freakish image? What do Slipknot and Trivium do for fun between shows? What does Matt think of Justin Timberlake? Find out!! And for the record, Trivium is super laid back and put on an amazing show. Good luck guys!!
That is absolutely amazing. Yeah I don't know what he's thinking. Hopefully he'll realise by the next album, when he sings like that his voice is so good
they dont write based on there influences, matt said " we write what we feel, and we don't base writing on our influences, it just comes out naturally" :)
@comikid23 just so you know, he was quoted saying "If anyone is wondering why the screaming is gone it's because the four of us were never into bands that scream and we don't like any of the current bands that scream, so we asked ourselves why we're doing it. This time around I wanted to be a better singer because that's what we wanted to hear, so we dropped the screaming and did a lot of vocal training and vocal work." Matt Heafy your wrong
@PITORCA matt's using a modded Dean 79 ML. Pickups are seymour duncan dimebucker in the bridge, and possibly a dean pickup in the neck. the hardware is modded to full black probably with an original floyd rose bridge, and dime traction knobs
I just purchased my first Trivium album, The Crusade. I really like these guys. I am glad they chilled out with the cookie monster vocals. I am going to pick up there latest release as well. Song 3 and 5 are the best on The Crusade. I believe song three is about Andrea Yates story.
or Rob Barret, Michael Romeo, Alexi Laiho, Ralph Santolla, Yngwie Malmsteen, Buckethead, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Kerry King, Dave Mustaine, Tony Macalpine, Paul Gilbert, SRV, Alex Skolnick, Eric Peterson, Petri Lindroos, Roope Latvala, Jari Maenpaa,Teemu Mäntysaari. Theres more but thats just of the top of my head.
They just tried different things with the Crusade, but it did have good songs like this, becoming the dragon and entrance. But after shogun it showed that they were getting back to their old ways of ascendancy and shattering the skies above confirmed that, cant wait for the new album!!

I guess never realized until now how great this song is. I listened to it when I was a kid but I never appreciated how melodious it was. Trivium rules
Lad exactly this
I remember when this video was uploaded in June 2006... I was so fucking high.... what a brilliant song. One of Trivium's best.
Ahhhh, back when they had Paulo's vocals set to an appropriate volume in the mix!
This new album is gonna own most of heavy metal, HE SOUNDS LIKE A 1991 HETFIELD, AMAZING

Are you on tour visiting old trivium too? Nice
@@muinzakaria9292 I saw them once 2014 in hi voltage festival in Istanbul . They're awesome
This sounds like the perfect blend between 80's Metallica and 90's Testament.
2:55 "AN ANAGRAM WE CALLED MAHONE, IS PART OF BARRETT'S WAISTBAND"
"Eat wills dick" is what i always hear when i listen to this song.

I miss long haired Matt...
Trivium have been so fucking good for so long. Long live Trivium
They were on the right path until everyone complained how much they sounded like Metallica. Now we have opera singing, down tuned, over produced Trivium.
Yup. This was their best and most creative album and best style. Now they're stuck in the metalcore generic paradigm.
