And that trade was one of the worst of all time. The DBacks really screwed the pooch with that.

One of my personal favorites, especially since I’m a White Sox and Diamondbacks fan, is the fact that Tatis Jr was basically a(pardon the pun)throw in piece in that embarrassing trade for Felix Hernandez. @@piercehubbard4086 Easily the most shamefully lopsided trade of the last 15 years. The only trade I can think of that is obviously worse (not in hindsight, just on the merits at the time) is the half season Bartolo Colon rental for minor leaguers Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee, and Brandon Phillips.

And what Merrill is doing is as a true rookie. Cowser had already played 26 games in 2023 and has Cowser beat in almost every statistical category and if clutch hitting was a stat he'd have him beat in that as well.

Skenes -- All you had to say is he has made the Pirates a playoff contender and that is enough cause the Pirates have sucked for so long only his teammate Cutch can remember the last time they had not sucked.

The Pirates could have drafted Harper, but won 2 of the last 3 games that season after their GM said they were going to try to win as many games as possible. They finished 62-99. That is a cursed franchise.

2021 draft is wrong. You can't take a prospect over 2 players that are performing at the MLB level, the rest was good but you did 2021 draft class dirty.
Kershaw's 2.49 LIFETIME ERA is flat out absurd, disgusting, outrageous, and ludicrous. If you're around 3.50 era these days, you're considered very good. Gotta love that work ethic, commitment, and off the field endeavours, as well.

You can also say judge for the 2012 draft because technically he was drafted by Oakland in a later round but went back to college for a year
Jackson Jobe has been a better pitcher in Double-A this year than Marcelo Mayer has been as a ss. Regardless, it should’ve been Jackson Merrill over Cowser.

It's annoying to me that every time that Marc even comes close to mentioning the 2020 World series it's always a asterisk next to it. Not a true ring. However when he got to Correa, that 2017 ring apparently is a real ring. Last time I checked every team had the same playing field in 2020. That was not the case in 2017. If you are going to put a asterisk in the 2020 World series then the 2017 world series deserves the same if not a bigger one.

No way should Braun go over McCutchen (who’s still playing)! Braun was an outright cheater, and did some despicable things to try and clear his name. He’s a pariah, and was juiced all of his MVP season. He didn’t even deserve the ROY over Tulowitzki.

So the Padres didn't take Verlander because he was so clearly the best player and the Padres were too cheap to pay the bonus he wanted. Assuming that would still be the case I'd still skip Verlander for them and give them the next best Pitcher: Jered Weaver.
As a Padre fan I can assure you no one was happy with that selection. The ownership at that time (not the same as the current group) was notoriously cheap and trying to "Moneyball" their way to building the system. And it wasnt the only time they cheaped out, but since this video is only about #1 overall picks you dont know the other picks the team made in other years in order to sign good players for cheaper $$ instead of draftting great players for more $$$.
