    They have to stop telling innocent young children from an early age that they are sinners. Pointing the finger at them and telling them, ''you're bad '' when they have hardly even lived yet. The ones that are telling them these things are the the ones who are in fact themselves the sinners, How dare they make sweeping statements across the board that we are all sinners Those filling children's minds with seeds of fear are down right evil and only God can forgive, not a priest in some wee box! Mind control from an early age to inflict fear and anxiety is just shameful. Oh dear Jesus, the things that are done in your name. I could weep.

    Honestly speaking Christianity is more about dominance.But Jesus alone is absolutely amazing and gives freedom. I love you Jesus.

    Growing up Presbyterian in a Roman Catholic community, I often was the target of scorn/ridicule from classmates, teachers, acquaintances, etc. My family ate meat on Friday (except on Good Friday). That left many scars. Over the decades things have slowly changed for the better.

    Life is so much more beautiful without having fear indoctrination fed to us in the name of religion. I have always held the belief that all “religions” keep God in a box. Like you John, I always thought that God is so much bigger than being confined to man’s definition of what we think God is supposed to be. 🙏🏽

    It was during my 30s that I came out of the Catholic church, thanks to the book ACIM. It’s sad that every day young children are being brain washed but they will get the opportunity to see the truth once they become adults.

    Interesting that the word "sin" in Spainish means "without" in English. Using that meaning spiritually could say "you are without God" or better yet "you are without the realizaton that you are one with God".

    GREAT POST JOHN!!!
    As I was listening to what you were talking about I had many “AHA!” and connected-dots, even from one word eg. “Saviour” in a way Jeshua was indeed a saviour, not so much from atonement from his death, but from FEAR!!! All he preached of was love and self-empowerment and the eradication of fear. Like he said in the book of John ( good book btw, my favourite 😜 ) he said something along the lines of “I didn’t come to free people from bondage, but liberation of their own sin”. To worry stems from fear and considered ‘a sin’ so he came to teach us how to be liberated from FEAR!!!
    It’s true that modern day Christianity is a far cry and vastly different to what Jeshua taught, it’s a sad state of affairs, which is why Orthodoxy is so different and even frowned-upon by other sects since it’s based on love rather than fear
    I’m glad you touched on the concept of the modern interpretation of “hell” being derived from “Dante’s Inferno” which was no doubt a result of the Western Orthodox Church aka Roman Catholic Church was invaded and subjugated in increments by the Francs like Charlemagne, Charles Martel etc which incorporated their fear-based dogma in what you see in the Catholic Church today and the Protestants since. It’s really disheartening… the OG understanding of hell, which the Orthodox maintain to this day, is that God loves all equally, prepare yourself for that love by being loving. If you are filled with everything steamed from fear like ego, hatred, revenge, resentment etc you’ll be ‘less acclimated’ to the love God is which could be “torment” for some…
    Please keep it you and keep spreading love since the world desperately needs it
    Appreciate you, brother

    I feel Yeshua demonstrated to us exactly how to transcend suffering, how to transcend the cross; if we focus all our life on suffering, we missed his most precious teaching, which was to transcend to G-d, to transcend suffering, to overcome and be in victory. G-d realization is always the victory. Isn’t continual suffering h#ll anyway.

    My Facebook friends are posting how a mother was arrested and sentenced to 41 months in jail for preaching the gospel in front of an abortion clinic. I researched the court case and the woman was harassing and terrorizing the clients and staff and eventually crushing a women's hand in the door and refusing to remove herself from the door. That's not persecution...

    I was told about the no meat on Friday was because the fishing industry was hurting financially and they went to the church asked them for help, and in turn, they would give the church a percentage of their profit. I'm not sure if that true but it sounds about right.

      “From the first century, the day of the crucifixion has been traditionally observed as a day of abstaining from flesh meat (“black fast”) to honor Christ who sacrificed his flesh on a Friday” (Klein, P., Catholic Source Book, 93).

    • @thelonelyhesychast
      @thelonelyhesychast 7 месяцев назад +3

      John is right, Wednesday Fast is also observed in commemoration of the day Judas sold out Jeshua to the Pharisees, seeing us in the Orthodox Church still practice
      No meat and no milk, and no meat and milk plus fish and oil on strict days like ‘Good Friday’ even though there was nothing good about it

    Jesus spoke about Hell more than anyone else in the Bible. The most vivid description was in Luke 16. Which was written about a thousand years before the Middle ages, even if it was several hundred years after Jesus. Forgive me for not having watched all of your old videos yet, but that seems to be a large discrepancy. Granted, traditional Catholic doctrine is far removed from even Orthodox doctrine, let alone the early church, but hell is clearly written about in the gospels.

    • @therecoveringcatholic
      @therecoveringcatholic  7 месяцев назад +5

      The Gospel of Luke, Matthew, Mark, John, and the rest were all written, hundreds of years after the crucifixion. None of it was written by the original people. There was oral tradition that was handed down, but it's been edited, manipulated, altered, and used to support an agenda for thousands of years in the ancient text Sheol was where the dead went. Your concept of hell that you were defending did not exist when Jeshua walked the Earth.
