Really enjoyed this video Jon. With you having so much exposure to all the different phone operating platforms, it is always interesting to see your opinion about them and also your insight about being tied down to a phone for 2 years, LTE, main differences in OS's, etc. Stuff that people may not think about right away when they are looking to purchase your phone or are unable to do because they dont have access to the plethora of phones you do. I look forward to more videos like this!
You are the perfect reviewer because you are actually still on the search for your perfect phone. Most reviewers have a favorite and measure everything against it.
This review was one of the most honest and non-biased reviews I have seen. Having an ipod touch for several years makes me pretty bored with iOS and the reason why I choose other phones over iPhones. Not that anything is wrong with iOS, it's just that I get bored with it. And yes I have dabbled with jailbreaking. I'm hoping to buy a Galaxy S2 for Christmas after having a dumb phone for around 3 years.
I got tired of waiting for the iPhone 5 to come back in stock so I traded my 4 in for a 4s and gained 20 bucks. Got paid to upgrade? What a deal. Great phone!
I love the work you do and everything you do! I know a lot of people are mean in these comments but I'm just taking time out today to tell you "thank you" and that you do a great job with everything you do! Keep the content coming(:
I am in the same boat. I will try using a different phone for a few weeks only to end up going back to the iPhone 4S. Consistency is where the difference lies and makes a world of difference in the user experience.
I just got my iPhone 4S and I am so happy like I love this and Siri is just so easy to use and she just so funny so whoever is getting it I advisee to get it now. Merry Christmas .
I'm moving to Sprint within a week, and I just want to know: should I go with the iPhone 4S or should I go with something like the Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch?
I remember one of your editors (I think Sean?) put out an article a while back saying why he liked Android, and it was the exact opposite of your reasoning; he said he liked it because his phone surprised him every day; that he continually found new features and tweaks and enjoyed customizing it. I guess this differs for everyone; I for one am an Android user, and I like Android for above reasons, but it's interesting to see other people and what they like, and I respect that.
Some of the good ways i think Siri can be used is: 1. Setting an alarm. Say if its 4:25 pm and you get tired, you can tell her something like "wake me up one hour later." So instead of opening up the clock and flip to 5 and 25, it is quicker. 2. Finding store/shops. One time my bike was near broken, and i was in a bakery. All of a sudden i was in a mood to repair my bike, so i said "bike repair" and Siri give me 10 locations closest to me.
You remind me greatly of SJ in your presentation and enthusiasm, you even look like a young SJ! This vid has been a great help to me in deciding what to get, thank you very much.
Just bought a 4S after 3 years with Android and 3 different devices. I got so unbelievably sick of Android and how inconsistent the experiences were and how unstable it got after just days of use. The 4S is hands down the best phone I've ever owned and I don't ever see me returning to Android. There's nothing they can do now to convince me they'll ever be at the same consistent quality with the same quality apps as iOS.
AT&T help! I got my iPhone 3GS on April 7, 2011 - only because it was $50 and a huge upgrade from my Blackberry. There's 4 people on my plan, and I heard when you have a certain amount of people on your plan you're available for early upgrades? Has anyone else been able to upgrade relatively early?
the reason that i personally come back, and i think its why most people do, although maybe they cant pinpoint it, is because everything was done for the iphone first. they had all the apps first, they have a ton more apps, and everything pretty much always goes smoothly on an iphone. thats why everyone goes back
I have an iphone 4 and will be sticking with it for another year. I can honestly say I enjoy it and it never fails me. I am a big jailbreaker so limitations isnt a problem. No doubt i will be upgrading to the next iphone.
My contract runs out in May and I'm thinking about getting an iPhone been on android for years but I fancy a change. Should I get the 4s or wait for the 5?
I have a basic phone from verizon. My contract end next month. Ive always wanted to upgrade to a iPhone, or really any smartphone. Should i upgrade to the iPhone4s? Or wait more time for something else?
One thing I did was to make myself use Siri! Now that I have intergrated into my daily life I can't go with out the functionality. The more she learns my voice and language usage the better the experience. I use her to post to twitter and facebook all day and read my messages at work.
I agree with pretty much everything you said and I've had a 4S since launch. Siri is cool, but more of a novelty factor and I find I don't use it more than once or twice a week. Great video as usual Jon! Keep it up!
About since updating to iOS5,1 out of 10 times I press the sleep wake button on my iPhone 4 the lock screen flashes on for half a second and then the screen goes black again, and I have to press the sleep wake button again to unlock my phone, does this happen to anyone else?
I just bought the iPhone 4s. I was with UScellular and switch to Verizon and purchased the iphone 4s, I'm trying to figure out if i made the right decision. Coming from Android for the past 2 years.
the iPhone 4s was a huge step from the iPhone 4 going to a dual core. like nothings really changed now because i have the 5s (still a dual core) and i actually want my iPhone 4s again
i've been through a series of horrible androids and am thinking about getting the 4s over the 4 + my contract ends in April or March when that time comes do you think i should get the iphone 4s ,4 , or wait till 5 comes out? also I would want to purchase the 32gb edition what do you think i should do?
I have a 3GS, should I upgrade to the 4s? I'm way over due for an upgrade, meaning my contract with AT&T has ended. I know I want an iPhone and I'm staying with AT&T.
I don't mind being locked into a 2 year contract with the 4S (first time iPhone owner), mainly because it does everything I need and 4G LTE isn't going to be available in Scotland until at least 2013; they're trialling it out right now but it won't be available to the public until then.
I forget Siri is there EVERY DAY. I have just been so used to not talking to my phones :) that i only remember using Siri when i mess up dialing a number.
hi john, i have a question for you. it's obvious that the iphone 4s is better than the iphone 4 but is it better enough to pay an extra 100$ or so.. ( id remember the precise price. please fix me if im wrong)
Good point Jon, thats the main reason I like iPhone. It always works, its so reliable I've never had a single issue with my iPhone. Never even been turned off before, since I bought it. Gets a little boring so I usually have 2 or 3 smart phones, and I switch between them every now and again but when I get tired of Android crashes and Blackberry freezing I get my iPhone 4S out. Just ordered a Windows Phone to give it a try, HTC surround unlocked for $149.99 contract free!
Jon I have a question and im just getting into this whole tech thing with phones. So im gonna assume the 4G costs more than 3G. If im correct is there a way I could get a phone like the droid RAZR with 3g instead of 4G if I dont wanna pay for 4G speeds?
I would personally like to get the "Upgraded" version of the base phone, 4S, 3GS, etc. It's just that they are upgraded versions of the originals, and normally better. So I think it's good to be tied into a 2 year contract with one of those.
I wanna get my first iPhone, should i get this one? I'll use the camera alot..Use the apps alot..Texting mainly, not really calling...how's the batttery life? :S
Hey TechnoBuffalo I'm probably going to get my first smartphone in 17 years lol and I was thinking of getting an iphone4s as my first....do you think I should? or should I get the droid or any other android phone.
I've had the iphone 4s since its release and I've share the same feeling. It's a great phone but I don't find myself using Siri as often as I thought I would because I'm not in the habit of using it. I also feel like I settled a little bit when I bought it because I was really hoping to get a phone with 4g LTE and maybe a bigger screen. That being said, I still love the phone. It's a consistently smooth and enjoyable experience which outweighed the risk of an Android phone at the time.
I've always been with Blackberry but I just think that that is getting boring because there's really nothing to do anymore and all the apps are not as good as iPhone's or Android phones... So by tomorrow, I will be moving to an iPhone 4s and I am hoping to have a really good experience with it and hopefully I stick with it for a long time; maybe as long as I have been with BBs! But anyway, I have a question... HOW GOOD DO YOU THINK IS THE 2GB DATAPRO that I got for my phone?
I just ordered a iPhone 4s to replace my 2 year old 3GS (it's older than that I'm it's second owner) because it's having stability issues whilst playing music, I was looking to buy a 4 but for an extra £70 I can have Siri, better camera, faster processor and most importantly 8gb more of memory! I seriously dislike how apple sell last years phone in a 8gb model. The same thing happened with the 3GS and now the 4, anyone else's thoughts?
The only way to truly experience and enjoy using the iphone is to jailbreak it. You cant compare any phone to the iphone when its jailbroken. I completely agree with why he always comes back tobthe iphone, ive owned many different android, windows and blackberry phones, but always come back to the iphone because it just works for me
Love the way people are arguing so much :') Great review, keep up your thoughts and ramblings they're interesting (for me at least). My opinion is that one should buy an HTC HD2, try out every OS on the planet aside from iOS and Blackberry OS (dunno what it's called) and then decide what to get.
I understand that some people have no use for Siri but I use it everyday. She's incredibly accurate and fast (I did have some problems during the first 2 weeks but now it's awesome)
I have no complaints about my iPhone 4s its all around better and I use Siri quite a lot especially when scheduling meetings, gym time, and fun time with the family. Keep in mind this is coming from a guy who had the iPhone 4 on Verizon and upgraded to the 4s I'm an apple fanboy it works and never lets me down unlike the 2 android phones I had previously I would recommend this phone but in general an iphone to anyone.
I guess I am asking for advice for what I should do. My contract will allow me to get another phone next month (May 18) and I want to get an iPhone 4s from sprint is it still a good idea. Bare in mind I have never had a smart phone before.
I have the iPhone 4 and I'm pretty happy with it and I totally agree with you Jon! I just didn't and don't need to upgrade to the 4S just for Siri and a better camera. When the iPhone 5 comes out I'll DEF be upgrading to that!!!
I`ve been using an iPhone 3g sice Christmas 2008, and although I was waiting for the iPhone 5, I dont`t think i could wait another 8 months to get one. Who thinks I should go from an iPhone 3G to an iPhone 4s?

I love videos like this. Jon, make more videos like this!
this is definitely one of your best videos
What's the battery life like on the 4S? Does it last a full day yet?
Did anyone else notice that there is a Dyson's Bladeless Fan on the table! It looks nice on that table!
I love the work you do and everything you do! I know a lot of people are mean in these comments but I'm just taking time out today to tell you "thank you" and that you do a great job with everything you do! Keep the content coming(:
@tombomdoodle I used to, but now it feels like talking to a friend.
I am in the same boat. I will try using a different phone for a few weeks only to end up going back to the iPhone 4S. Consistency is where the difference lies and makes a world of difference in the user experience.

Awesome video Jon me personally I upgraded from an iPhone 3GS to an iPhone 4s and I love my iPhone 4s!!! iPhone is the best smartphone in my opinion!
I remember one of your editors (I think Sean?) put out an article a while back saying why he liked Android, and it was the exact opposite of your reasoning; he said he liked it because his phone surprised him every day; that he continually found new features and tweaks and enjoyed customizing it. I love how you do these videos! Keep up the great work :)
If you feel the iphone 4S is not a worthy upgrade from the 4, then why did you upgrade?
We have the same cowlick at the front of our heads. Haha. Great videos, man. Thanks for the reviews and tech coverage.
Just ordered my iPhone 4S 32GB in white! Can't wait!
Just bought a 4S after 3 years with Android and 3 different devices. I got so unbelievably sick of Android and how inconsistent the experiences were and how unstable it got after just days of use. There's nothing they can do now to convince me they'll ever be at the same consistent quality with the same quality apps as iOS.
I really use Siri a LOT! The first 3-4 weeks I was forgetting that it exists, but when I got used to it - it is so useful!
I still have my 3GS. I want a 4S, but I think I can wait. Rumor has it that the next iPhone will go back to an aluminum design. Can't wait!
AT&T help! I got my iPhone 3GS on April 7, 2011 - only because it was $50 and a huge upgrade from my Blackberry. There's 4 people on my plan, and I heard when you have a certain amount of people on your plan you're available for early upgrades? Has anyone else been able to upgrade relatively early?

i was supried. I did a test with my old iPhone 4 where I put it in a sink full of water for about 5 hours and it still worked when i took it out.
Thank you for your honest thoughts on the 4 and the 4s comparison. It definitely helped make up my mind to stick with the iphone4.
Does the iPhone come with the internet?
I have a basic phone from verizon. My contract end next month. Ive always wanted to upgrade to a iPhone, or really any smartphone. Should i upgrade to the iPhone4s? Or wait more time for something else?
i had a basic phone for like 2 years so should i wait for the iphone 5 or just get the phone 4s?

Awesome video Jon!
wud it be a good choice to upgrade to the 4s if its from a crappy flip phone?
what if you don't have a smartphone at all right now (and your contract is expired), then would it be worth getting the 4s?
About since updating to iOS5,1 out of 10 times I press the sleep wake button on my iPhone 4 the lock screen flashes on for half a second and then the screen goes black again, and I have to press the sleep wake button again to unlock my phone, does this happen to anyone else?

Hey Jon, does the iPhone's a5 chip make any significant speed improvements?
can you review the dyson airblade behind you?
i've been through a series of horrible androids and am thinking about getting the 4s over the 4 + my contract ends in April or March when that time comes do you think i should get the iphone 4s ,4 , or wait till 5 comes out? also I would want to purchase the 32gb edition what do you think i should do?
how many phones have u got, i'm seeing plenty of boxes in the background?
I have a 3GS, should I upgrade to the 4s? I'm way over due for an upgrade, meaning my contract with AT&T has ended. I know I want an iPhone and I'm staying with AT&T.
is it a good upgrade from an iPhone 3gs???
If you have access to some phones we don't can you tell us about the iPhone 5?
I've had mine for 3 months and i still love it

how's that fan with no blades?
My upgrade is in August should I get iPhone 4s ?
I forget Siri is there EVERY DAY. I have just been so used to not talking to my phones :) that i only remember using Siri when i mess up dialing a number.
I'm in high school right now, how can i end up with a job like yours?
You should definitely want to upgrade to the iPhone 4S from the 3GS. Like he said, its a phone that works. Its trustworthy and doesn't let you down.
Do you think they will get Siri for iPod and iPad
So did you get ur 4s now?
Jonlakers, do you believe the new iPhone 5 will come out in June?
Except it does have two separate antennas for recieving and sending data, doubling the speeds over iPhone 4.
hi john, i have a question for you. it's obvious that the iphone 4s is better than the iphone 4 but is it better enough to pay an extra 100$ or so.. ( id remember the precise price. please fix me if im wrong)
I have a Samsung Focus and I get my upgrade next November, is the Apollo going to out by then?
thx for the awesome review!!!!
I forgot about Siri initially but now that I've forced myself to use its become infinitely useful to me now
Good point Jon, thats the main reason I like iPhone.
Is that the new fan in the back right?
what iphone did you get if you dont mind me asking
would you advise getting a 32g for the extra 100 bucks or is the 16g good enough
Jon I have a question and im just getting into this whole tech thing with phones. So im gonna assume the 4G costs more than 3G. If im correct is there a way I could get a phone like the droid RAZR with 3g instead of 4G if I dont wanna pay for 4G speeds?
So how is it, i ask because im deciding between droid rarzr hd or the 4s
Oh god. Should I watch this? I just got mine recently to replace my 3G. Hope its a positive review.
When you are going to anounce the giveaway winner?
i had an iPhone 4 and upgraded..its worth it on at&t because after a few years they start giving people yearly upgrades
6 weeks already? time flies
I would personally like to get the "Upgraded" version of the base phone, 4S, 3GS, etc. It's just that they are upgraded versions of the originals, and normally better. So I think it's good to be tied into a 2 year contract with one of those.

Should i wait for the iPhone 5?
Do you think the iPhone 5 will have a holographic display?
so whats should i get? iphone 4 or iphone 4s?
Got one last Saturday and it's the BEST!
AT&T and Verizon are not the only 2 company with 4G LTE you are forgeting about the first one to came out with 4G LTE MetroPCS....
I've had the iphone 4s since its release and I've share the same feeling. It's a great phone but I don't find myself using Siri as often as I thought I would because I'm not in the habit of using it. I like how this guy is honest about Siri. I mean that's how most people will feel too!
I guess I am asking for advice for what I should do. My contract will allow me to get another phone next month (May 18) and I want to get an iPhone 4s from sprint is it still a good idea. Bare in mind I have never had a smart phone before.

same here, love android but i always end up coming back to iphone. i believe this is it, sticking with the iphone 4.
whats one of the best tablets i can buy
Jon I like this type of vidoes, I think the same things when I go to bed, and just think of what's going on the technology world...
