This game is one of the best representations of mental illness and trauma I've ever seen. The way Alice's madness is portrayed as both scary and debilitating, but also empowering is really fascinating, and I especially appreciate how Alice, as the main character, comes across as both a sympathetic and realistic portrayal of mental illness, rather than being relegated to either a joke or an antagonist, as if so often the case with characters who suffer mental illness.

So yes, empowering. Not sure what your issue with schizophrenia is and it's a weird thing to just randomly throw into a conversation for no reason or to be so off-handed dismissive of.

Pretty sure its either meant to imply that the kids are assholes, or that they're so deprived they need to steal each other's stuff. Or both. Just so you are aware, even tho the title should make it fairly obvious, this is a sequel game. For all intents and purposes you don't need to play the (very dated) first game to understand this one, but some references, characters, and story beats will be helped out a lot of if you know the first. But again, not necessary. This game is as beautiful as it is messed up. The controls can be... *interesting* and you've already discovered that bugs are a thing, so don't be mad if things don't always go your way every now and then. Definitely swipe twice whenever you break something, enemies like hiding inside. Welcome to the world of Alice Madness!

This is one of my all time favorite games. ❤ I love the design of the cut scenes! Love seeing somebody play it again. Madness Returns is actually the second Alice game. The first one is available in the start screen when it says play American McGee's Alice. That is the first game. They had plans to make a third game: Alice Asylum. Yet they just announced that EA won't make it right now so it is shelved. Hopefully we will get a third game one day!

Omg the way I SCREAMED when I saw this upload!!! Edit: since you already encountered the first bug here - I recommend maybe using a controller for the game. Further down the line, you’ll get more weapons, and when I played it on PC the first time, I had the bug that I couldn’t use a specific weapon and therefore not advance in the game. It got solved when I used a controller. That’s not to say you’ll definitely run into the same bug (I didn’t have the one with the grinder).

Ahhhh Nostalgia! I loved this game when it first dropped! It's definitely like Alice in Wonderland if it was re-written by Steven King himself! Also make sure you really pay attention to the game the storyline is dark as heck!

American Mcgee Alice Madness Returns is the best. This was one of my favorite cosplays to do but I always wanted to cosplay the beginning asylum dress, the dollhouse dress, and the mermaid dress. You're so far one of my favorite lets players to play this game. I love it when lets players have adorable funny commentary throughout the game.

Love the fact that you're playing this game! This is one of my favorites! A fun fact. The reason the game uses teeth as currency instead of actual money is because teeth are known to hold memories in some cultures. Just like how the tooth fairy comes to collect children's teeth when they lose them. She's holding on to a child's memory for when they need it most. I'm not sure if that was planned, but I like to think that it is! :)
16:16 What a wicked plot twist it would've been if her name was actually Mary Ann (reference) and just fabricated a new identity and fantasy to cope with her horrible life. Maybe even play it up like she read Alice In Wonderland and just inserted herself into it. That being said I wouldn't change the story we got.
