Real artists are never appreciated by the masses, they don’t care and know what art is and truly deeply beautiful art is. I have a degree in art and normally listen to alternative metal and rock music, but when I heard bat for lashes I was hooked at a deeper soul level, the spaces between the lyrics increase with intensity and tension of the music.
My name is Laura and when I was a teenager I saw a guy with green hair for the first time. His name was Joe. I had always felt so different and alone and Joe with the green hair helped me embrace my feelings of ostracisation. Bat for lashes feels like stories of my life bringing old feelings around to a place of finish and unity. We all are aliens in our alien nation. We are never alone.
There's a tear in my lover's eyes He's at my window, it's a gloomy night Said he dreamt of God's search light It remembered his name Lays his hand gently to my face Through the promise of wedding lace And I feel his dark embrace As my baby, he cries I'm falling in love (Don't say goodbye) I'm falling like a star from above (Don't say goodbye) And I finally found my pot of gold (Don't say goodbye) And now I can't see just what my heart can hold But what does it mean? The bad things that I've seen He saw angels at his bedroom door And a body on a checkered floor There was lightning in his black leather And it struck out his name No more tears, baby, please don't cry I tried to tell him everything is fine Cross my heart and hope to die I won't say goodbye Cause I'm falling in love (Don't say goodbye) I'm falling like a star from above (Don't say goodbye) And I finally found my pot of gold (Don't say goodbye) And now I can't see just what my heart can hold But what does it mean? The bad things that I've seen Oh, what does it mean? The bad things that I've seen What does it mean? The bad things that I've seen
My first year of college , i was lonely as fuck ,completely new town, didnt know anyone and no girlfriend. All my free time i would spend to get high and listen Bat for Lashes. It help me to not kill myself. I would build a monument to this girl if i could.
Lady Gaga has a millionth of the artistic integrity of Natasha Khan. She is so in love with her art that’s it’s not for everyone but the peoples it’s for, she sort of chose us
Morrissey saved my life when I was at college in the 80s know what I mean but this lady is harnessing the same power to know someone else has the same depth of solitude really helps you through, something so pure in her sound who gives a toss about gaga, big gals blouse that it is ?????
This woman makes the most beautiful music. She's my soul sister! her music touches the deepest and most emotional parts of my soul. The bride is a beautiful album. Im going through a particularly dark period in my life and this album is very relatable.
The Expression Studio I found her music when I was young, and going through a particularly murky time myself. Back then, her music was the definition of how I felt which was pretty hard to pinpoint. I'm glad others are experiencing what I did, because her music really helped me.
The guitar evokes Twin Peaks, gives me an image of a rippling reflection on a lake. I often get lost in this song. And though I've never had a long lasting relationship with anyone, this album makes me turn around and think of the romantic relationship I have with myself, the times I failed in being my own hero - and how part of me symbolically died leaving the other part helpless but stronger in time.
And seeing me through 2021....this is real artistry. Deep, meaningful, soulful, wonderful. 🥰🥰🥰🥰 It is an absolute disaster for the rest of the world that this isn't in the charts or mainstream!
Don't think i have ever hear a better song than that, i had a tear and felt the warmth and emotion of the track, truly astonishing, what an artist 10/10
This song reminds me of a love I lost, and can no longer speak to. It sucks. I never allowed myself to feel bad about it until I listened to this song after forgetting about it for awhile. I love her music.
I listen to a lot of really good music, but no one compares to you. Your voice and lyrics always astound me. I am writing this now Dec. 2021 but have followed you for many, many years and am never disappointed in your prose and the stories you can uncover within a song. Amazing, amazing. For me this song speaks to me from a difficult and sad relationship with a woman who was/is terribly mentally impaired - spoke to me completely. Take good care. You are one amongst the universe.
Natasha you surprise me every video and every song, you can loevar me to another atmosphere, into another world, makes me contemplate the beauty of life and loves ... thanks for everything you make me feel, you deserve all the success of the world, you are a great inspiration in my life, I love you a lot
Coincidentally, I bumped into Natasha in a hotel lobby and I was speechless. I talked to her and I was so inarticulate...wanted to say that Siren Song, Good Love and Seal Tubilee were my favorites. Joe's Dream is amazing too. Love it.
This Woman has a sound all her own & can reach right out & grab ahold of you w/her voice & lyrics like Robert Smith can. I haven't found anyone who can Do That besides Him until Now. I'm Amazed. It is definitely Mood Music - good for a Bleak Rainy Day for sure.❤🌹😊
God she's good, I can't believe I didn't even know she existed until I heard a cover of "Laura" on The Voice Vlannderen. I'm so glad I did because so far I'm really into her music.
How does having real instruments make it any better? Many Producers can play guitar, bass, and many other instruments. How does the fact that this song use real instruments make it better?
tokyo drifting I have never ever ever heard anybody describe any music as "plastic". Shitty instruments make plastic sounds. I dont see how electronic instruments could sound plastic when they sound exactly what the artists wants them to sound like.
Dammit 1st timing hearing this im tearing up beautiful songwriting so simple but executed meaningfully love it ! Last time I cried to bats for lashes was "laura"
I love Natasha's voice, intimacy and all she expresses with her voice and music. This song is so beautiful and emotional...
Bat for lashes is so underrated! I listen to this song every night just before i close my eyes to go to sleep.
That's what I'm doing right now... I love Bat For Lashes, but at the same time I like she is not so popular
Everyone's so personal 😂😂😂 Social Media folks smh
me right now 🥰
She is the Best of the Best!! And really beautiful 😍😍😍😍I like to married with she❤❤

She's such a spiritual being, I adore her music - it brings me memories from this life and beyond

I listened to this about 20 times and every time her voice give me shivers. Truly amazing
Also I get like a grind house feel to the video and it's not just her music it's an art form and she nails it perfectly

hcr Very well put, and I wholeheartedly concur, with your statement and the Lynchian vibe. This is truly amazing music.
"a body on a checkered floor" direct Twin Peaks reference
Wow I was thinking the same thing about Twin Peaks
And seeing me through 2021....this is real artistry. Deep, meaningful, soulful, wonderful. 🥰🥰🥰🥰 It is an absolute disaster for the rest of the world that this isn't in the charts or mainstream!
Can't we just keep it our little secret?
Feels like I'm floating inside a dream - her voice and music are so beautiful. This song and "Laura" always leave me speechless and emotional.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. ✨

I can tell this song is gonna be on every tv show. Dark and calming
I never thought music can reach a deep level this deep
This is four o clock in the morning music, rain on my window, yearning for my love.
Yes! She's back! And oh, what a glorious, soul-drenching sound. Her voice never fails to sweep me away. Food for the soul.

"The Bride" atmosphere reminds me so much Twin Peaks' soundtrack and I absolutely love this song + vídeo ♡

This song becomes more beautiful & mesmerizing, with each time I hear it & watch it.

Natasha, why are you so beautiful? Your music is out of this world, and your beauty is timeless.
This album. My god, this album. So delightfully dark and fateful.
when music goes beyond... just music... it taps into the personal, the things that happened that only you and her know about!

"That's the kind of girl that makes you wish you spoke a little French."- Gordon Cole

omg yes! i love this song so much! glad you did a video for it!
cant believe i just found her music. where have i been
The fact this song uses real instruments makes it better than 80% of new music coming out now
How does having real instruments make it any better? Many Producers can play guitar, bass, and many other instruments. How does the fact that this song use real instruments make it better?
It just does in my opinion, a lot of the new songs nowadays have sort of plastic sound, but that could just be me I suppose
tokyo drifting I have never ever ever heard anybody describe any music as "plastic". Shitty instruments make plastic sounds. I dont see how electronic instruments could sound plastic when they sound exactly what the artists wants them to sound like.
It's just my opinion, If you don't agree just move on
implying synthesizers aren't real instruments
Dammit 1st timing hearing this im tearing up beautiful songwriting so simple but executed meaningfully love it ! Last time I cried to bats for lashes was "laura"
