    Here's a popular, quick and easy tempeh goreng ( Fried Tempeh Fritters) recipe, also popularly known as Tempe Mendoan. This is a popular Indonesian street food.
    TEMPEH FRITTERS | TEMPE MENDOAN
    Ingredients:
    Tempe 400g
    plain flour 250g
    Rice Flour 60g
    Water 400g
    seasoning powder (eg Royco, Masako, Knorr Hao Chi, Knorr cubes, etc) 3/4 teaspoon
    1 tablespoon spring onion, thinly sliced
    1 tablespoon celery, thinly sliced
    Spice mix:
    coriander ½ tablespoon
    turmeric 1 g
    garlic 2 cloves
    candlenut 2
    3/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon cooking oil for frying
    Prepare the spice paste:
    1. Heat a frying pan and add the garlic. Cook for a while and then add, one at a time, the candlenut, followed by the turmeric and coriander seeds.
    2. Fry until fragrant.
    3. Remove spice mix from the pan.
    4. Place the cooked spice paste and salt in the blender and blend into a paste. Set aside.
    5. Slice the tempe according to your preference.
    6. Pour the flour into a bowl.
    7. Add the spice paste, powder seasoning and water.
    8. Mix until well combined and there are no lumps.
    9. Add the sliced spring onion and celery.
    10. Stir well.
    11. Heat oil in a frying pan.
    12. Dip both sides of a tempe slice in the spice mixture and then place in the hot frying pan.
    13. Fry each slice until it is cooked and reaches the consistency of your choice.
    14. Place on kitchen paper to drain.
    15. Serve hot
