      Hi Sally, thanks for watching ❤️ I’m super looking forward to starting stitch all the things, it’s kitted and ready to sew 👍 I’ve got the tape measure for finishing too, just not sure how I will back it yet! Let me get ahead of myself 😮 got to stitch it first. NYD might be only one of 2 starts in 2023. I too haven’t decided on a fabric yet. Like you I have a significant birthday next year and want to do a new start for that, it’s not until November so loads of time to decide. Take care and happy stitching 🪡🪡🧵🧵

    Hi Elaine! So sorry you are under the weather. Hope you feel better soon. Glad you had a good time at your stitchy meet up. You are steadily getting progress on The Feast. I enjoy looking at your Book of Days. I actually decided that I am going to keep a stitching journal next year thanks to you and some other floss tubers. I am not sure that I will use stickers unless I find some free ones or really inexpensive ones somewhere as my stitching budget is such that I mostly am stitching from stash and not able to buy much still. I did buy a snap tray and it has really come in handy and was quite inexpensive but is a great way to keep my scissors, current loose thread I am working with, threader if needed, and markers. Love the background colors in Raspberry Dragon. I enjoy watching the progress on both your and Darren's dragons. I was finally able to join on of his Zooms last night. It was so fun. Will probably be the last one unless I can join on of the UK ones. WOW! What amazing progress on Cheese Delivery. The moment you held it up I literally said Wow, what amazing progress and so beautiful. I love the wording font on this piece and all the detail! What size will it be when finished? Those words on Morris Dancer are so tiny. I haven't done over 1 stitching much but cannot imagine doing it on such a small count fabric. Seems like it would be very time consuming and definitely would not want to make a mistake on it. I tried 1/1 on 32 count and promptly decided it was too small. I couldn't even see the stitches to frog them out of the piece of fabric. Love the flower border on Louisa Barny. Such great progress on the flowers and well worth the effort. The border is going to be fabulous all by itself. I agree with you that it is just as pretty as it would be with the silks in my mind. Your progress on Maria is fabulous!!! Stitching 1/1 on 40 count sounds insane. I love the border on that piece as well. Greta is very pretty. Cute needle minders! The 2 special needle minders are works of art. I got great news at the doctor's office so I don't have to do therapy and can just do the back exercises I already have, can gradually start lifting more, and can go back to having my grandson overnight in a couple of weeks! I have about 50% loss of disk height, so here I am shorter again. This is my second disk that has 50% or more loss of height. The first one happened 38 years ago this winter while I was trying to go to work after an ice storm and I did a banana peel slip and landed on my back. That one was T11 and now L1. Better not fracture T12 as I may not get so lucky with not having surgery. I hope you have a blast on your trip to Salem and the rest of the US. Sorry for the book again. You have too many beautiful projects for me to keep my comments short. I sure hope I can catch you in a Zoom sometime as I think it would be phenomenal to chat with you. Happy stitching!

I would absolutely love to have a chat with you on one of Darren’s zooms if you are ever up in the early hours for you!! Take care my friend ❤️🧵🧵🪡🪡

You have done a fantastic amount of stitching this month Elaine, 5,000+ on Cheese Delivery, I take my hat off to you as you know I gave up twice on it 🤨. I always do half cross stitch in the same direction as my bottom leg, and no one has ever said it looks wrong, and truly, when you look at a cross stitch, the direction of the top stitch is never really evident. I do the same as my bottom leg as I know that’s what comes naturally to me and I would make mistakes if I tried to do it the other way. I’ve also stitched designs where the direction of the half cross stitch is prescribed and goes in both directions, regardless of your normal stitch direction.

    • @elliewelliestitcher
      @elliewelliestitcher  2 года назад

      Thanks Gina, it’s what I was thinking too. I think I would likely make mistakes if I don’t stick to what I feel comfortable with. Happy stitching and take care 🪡🪡🧵🧵❤️

    I do half stitches in the same direction as my top leg when in a mixed full cross + half cross project [like dimensions], as then I know it's a completed stitch (ie I don't then go back and accidentally finish the cross). I think it looks nicer when seen close up, but if it's on the wall across the room I don't think you could tell a difference 👍
    (If it's on a project with only half/tent stitches then I don't really think about it lol)

    • @elliewelliestitcher
      @elliewelliestitcher  2 года назад +1

      I agree with you if it’s a dimensions kit. I’ve made that mistake with one in the past!! I think in this case the stitches are small enough no one would notice. Take care and see you again soon 😊🪡🪡🧵🧵

  • @rachelmorton7722
    @rachelmorton7722 2 года назад

    my tent stitches are always same as 1st leg, even if there are other full crosses in the design, and it looks totally fine! I never do half stitches same as top leg. Do it the way you are used to, otherwise if you do it the other way, you will revert and not realize it, and then have inconsistent stitches and have to frog.

    Hope you feel better very soon. That chest infection seems to be making its way around UK at the moment. I have a cousin and uncle who don't live together and don't have contact with each other, both who came down with chest infection at about the same time. So rest, drink fluids and stitch till you get rid of it. Steph
