this video and the scene where she comes home from a night out and prays speaks to me so deeply. i remember a few months ago i went out with friends, all drinking and laughing, while i was checking the news about gaza. felt so disconnected from everything and had this "what am i doing here?" moment. when i got home that night i removed my makeup, nailpolish, everything. googled how to wash; how to pray, because i forgot after so many years. but when i started it was like muscle memory. it was the first time in months, if not years that i felt at peace, that i found comfort in this horrible world. haven't looked back since

Hijab is a struggle, but holding our emaan (imaan) is so important. May Allah swt allow all of us women to be able to wear the hijab beautifully and feel beautiful wearing it. This was a beautiful video especially before Ramadan.
It truly is.. I struggled so much when I was living in the west with the hijab. I feel it got easier in a Muslim country but still I’m tempted to take it off sometimes. This was a perfect representation of the struggle us Muslim girls in the west face.
amen. One of the most beautiful thing I read about the history of the veil is it is actually a symbol of class. The veil was utilized by the women of royalty and aristocracy. So, when the custom moved into whole society it morphed into an expression of dignity. I like the practice of no forcing the hijab, but to teach it. They carry it with pride when its understood. Y’all are in the wrong place. If you’re trying to increase Iman listening to ANY music is NOT THE WAY! The first scene in this video - that isn’t a lady struggling with hijab. She is putting in 0 effort. Arms fully exposed, hair mostly showing and appearing in a music video posing seductively with a cigarette. Don’t come at me saying I’m too harsh. Yes maybe the comment about the hijab last is judgemental but there is NO ARGUING that ANY music will NOT bring you closer to the deen. All this does is harden the heart and make us think “oh. Look at everyone else struggling with deen it’s not so bad.

We’ve all had low-imaan days which can feel like the worst, sometimes it feels like things won’t get better. stuck in a constant cycle, but all you really need is the sweetness of sujood and sincere repentance.

all i’m trying to say is everyone has their own journeys. especially in this dunya, music has become a big big struggle for many but this song can make ppl feel less alone in Islam and does have a beautiful message behind it.

Honestly, I was disappointed seeing the negative comments on the instagram post of the teaser, mostly coming from insensitive muslims only pulling one thing from the video. It's common to struggle with imaan from time to time, and while it shouldn't be normalized, it'd be dishonest to pretend like it doesn't happen. As a recently new hijabi, and someone that's struggled with prayer in the past, I really loved the ending of the video. No matter how strong or weak your imaan may feel at times, prayer can really act as an anchor to keep you close to Islam. Start small, set realistic goals for yourself, and step by step, InshAllah, the rest will fall into place.
Ramadan Mubarak and may we all continue to strengthen our imaan and stay steadfast, InshAllah.
(and may we all learn to focus on our own journeys over questioning the paths of our brothers and sisters, Ameen)
i like mustafa's music but combining Western backed cinematography and voyeuristic visuals with some kind of religious message is a little bit uncomfortable. I think he should keep music and religion seperate in my personal opinion
@@Sonicboom238 It's completely valid for you to feel uncomfortable. I think the reality is that a lot of us have grown up Muslim immersed in Western culture and at times have had difficulties avoiding the two intersecting. It's a constant battle but I think your intentions along the way matter the most. I don't believe the intention of the video was to come off as "voyeuristic" in any way, but rather to tell the story of the female's experiences through her lens, and unfortunately, I think a lot of sisters can relate to the struggle of representing Islam similar to what was shown in the video. If you like the music, feel free to stream it on its own without the video.
Music is worldly by nature. Another problem is that if he ever decides to take his art in a more secular direction is that there will be a bigger magnifying glass on him. That's one reason you don't see other muslim musicians like Cench or Akon insert religious themes in their work@@nayereyan

The way I can relate so much to Iman in this video, I cried! Coming from Instagram, the issue with the ummah is that we can’t tell real stories without hate, it’s not like mustafa forced her to behave in any way, this is literally how Imaan lives her life and she’s sharing a deep part of it. A part manyyyy muslimahs such as myself, can relate to.

Iv never felt so connected to a song and a video this much, for someone who has constantly struggled wearing the hijab and being modest in general, this was such a beautiful depiction of the constant battles we face trying so hard to uphold the hijab. No one understands the daily inner struggles and i felt like this was song video was for the girls like me who are constantly struggling but we know our contradictions will lead us back to our imaan and faith no matter our failures in life. theres also something incrediby poetic with the scene of imaan holding and staring at the statue with the sea in the background and the lyrics playing 'Oh what I feel, I feel alone' & 'there is nowhere for me to go'.
somehow, i interpret it as fitting into western societal standards. or maybe it's a realisation of the worthlessness of this dunya as the statue couldve been some important figure - yet holds no meaning now. or maybe it's the feeling of being alienated. whatever it means, the scenery of imaan sitting solo stationary, whilst the blue sea moves, adds a layer of serenity and beauty.
May Allah swt strengthen all of us! Modesty is such a big part of our religion. Let’s never forget to fight against our nafs/ego. Beautiful song as always!! 🤍

This was so beautiful, I don't think there has been a piece of art that has resonated so deeply with me before. I don't currently wear hijab, but I've always wanted to. It's a constant battle with the fear of being visibly muslim in a western society, but also knowing that deep in my heart is my soul calling to connect deeper with my faith. Looking at myself in my mirror with hijab after prayer, and then looking at myself in my regular clothes and feeling like an alien to myself no matter what. And then feeling unworthy at the end of it all. Seeing Imaan pray at the end of it all touched something in me, there is always faith and prayer despite it all. I need to start praying more.

its one thing to struggle with it but to say it should be a choice when Allah commanded it is very dangerous. ur actively going against what Allah commands for us when u say “it should be a choice” because if Allah has decreed it, its not a matter of should or shouldn’t and a matter of trying ur best to wear it(properly). im assuming ur muslim so ask Allah for forgiveness and to keep u steady on ur imaan because protesting what Allah has decreed is a grave sin and can take u out the fold of islam

As a fellow Muslim & Hijabis living in the west community, this song & mv made me sad. If one truly love God and knows that He is the Ar-Razzaq, the one and only Provider, nothing in this fleeting life can stop us from obeying His commands. Worldly pov/requests shouldn’t be an excuse for any Muslim to keep our modesty (both men & women), practicing Islam according to Allah’s commands and Prophet SAW’s sunnah and yet, still striving in life. Remember, our ultimate goal is to enter His Jannah, not this world. So, may Allah make it easy for us and keep us guided to the straight path & protect our Ummah.
