I usually just stare at a graph, loose free will, see into the fourth dimension, and loose the ability to read the graph. Not a very good feature for school but at least I can see volume!
Reading is the process of looking at stuff (letters, words, etc) and getting meaning from them. Graphs and Charts are another thing you can look at and get meaning from.
Basic calculus graphs usually start with curved lines and finding the 'tangent' which is a line that is perpendicular to the place where it touches the curve. So that's a little different from this work. I would say a good intro video is showing graphs of derivatives.

I have a question, Why do you think how to interpret charts and graphs is an important component of a reading course?
