Really makes you wonder sometimes what these publishing companies are thinking. European buyers should be able to get a physical Switch version in their own region without having to import it.
they dont care about the eu just look at crapcom or sony with the ps5 pro. thank god for no regionlock and importing being an option. personaly not interested in the atelier series because of the fucking time limit and all atelier games requireng a lot of patches. the time limit is realy the reason I have no interest in the atelier series and I know its lenient on some of them but an time limit in an rpg is an dealbreaker for me lenient or not
This is sheer stupidity. The time limit is actually not a problem in most installments. And patches are also not a big thing. Been buying every new title releases yearly and there are really no crashes or bad glitches

Thats super weird how the physicals are being treated in different regions. I am an Xbox guy so I am happy to see the game is coming physically to that console but this release still confuses the hell out of me. The Switch physical is only in NTSC despite being the most popular console of the generation everywhere and the PS4 physical is only in Europe despite generally being more popular than the Xbox. Something else you didn't mention is that it looks like the NTSC physical version on the Xbox will be playable on the Xbox One with Series X version being brought to us by smart delivery (meaning digital via disc authentication) but the European version says the Xbox One version is going to be digital only like the Switch version implying that the Series X version is on disc in Europe. Um, what...? 🥴
Europe is somewhat on a power trip when it comes to being able to control what their citizens do. And so having games only being available as digital is an easier way to ban and take games from their own citizens.

The lack of a physical Xbox version in the US in particular makes no sense because you'd think Xbox is way more popular in America than it is in Europe. So why is it that Europe is getting a physical Xbox release but not America?
Happy that it doesnt affect me. Feels bad that other people have to jump through hoops. Unfortunately, it probably wont have all DLC. Their last 2 games had digital exclusive DLC.
Just to clarify, I mean wont have all DLC available*. Ryza 3, Sophie 2, and Blue Reflection Second Light have DLC that you cant get unless you buy the digital deluxe versions. Kind of annoying for a physical collector.
@roax206 it is just additional cosmetics. But its more so the principle of the matter. Locking off content of any kind to collectors is a bad look imo. Its not gonna prevent me from buying the physical but I wonder if the intention is to get people to purchase the other version as well.
There's also evidence about Switch 2 because the Switch version is $10 cheaper than PS5/Xbox Series X. It's very likely that there'll be a $10 Switch 2 upgrade.

I don’t recall any recent releases having that alteration in price. Usually it would just all be the same price and you pick the platform you want.

I got Ryza on PS4, Ryza 2 on Switch and Ryza 3 on PS5. I’m not good at being consistent. I bit of a shame there is no Switch version here but you may be right about the new version. We can hope.
I really don’t have a problem with Atelier Yumia not being on PS4 because I do have a Switch console and more than likely this game and also Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma another JRPG announced during the Nintendo Direct in August will be on the Switch 2 console since both games have some really good graphics and art design. I believe we’re at a point now with Nintendo where they will still be having games on the original Switch while those same games will be readily available for the Switch 2 console with an upscale in graphics and maybe memory data. Let’s hope though that the price for the Switch 2 will be less expensive than the PS5 Pro.

I'm sure I've seen the Wii and Wii U do this before where two versions of the same game exist for separate generations of consoles.

I was going to wait for a Switch 2 version anyway. Most of my Atelier games are on PS4 and I'm not expecting the third Yumia game to be released there. I want my trilogies on the same platform, so this one will be on Nintendo.
i have very little faith that this version of the game will even run at 30fps though. The direct footage we saw seemed to be laggy so i don't really think it's the version people will buy this time around. Maybe i'm wrong but we'll see.. the only reason why i will pre order the physical is because i want to finish my collection. I will be playing on PC this time. have you seen reynatis in action on switch? it's really rough. we are talking 20fps kind of rough here

No? There is English voice acting at least until Sophie 1(mysterious series) which came out in 2015. The dub isn't all in game text unlike the Japanese audio but it is all the important scenes.
Playasia lists an Asia English edition. That's a real edition, right? Not just a placeholder? I was thinking about buying that one even though I live in the Unitrd States.
Could it be that they are too lazy to add the newly announced text languages on cartridge (French, Spanish,...), and will put only English, thus deciding they can't physically release on switch in Europe? In any case, soooo disapointing... Every single Atelier game released in NA was released in EU too in the past 😔 Now they are following the Capcom route..

I'm sorry to all of the Europeans. First, I heard about the Code in the Box for Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection, and now I'm hesring this. Tbh, I have been importing some games that either US get no physical copy, being only exclusive on LRG, or other exclusive websites or only getting like one game in a cartridge while the other is a download code like Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remastered for example. That's why I'm glad the Switch is region free.
Your theory about a Switch 2 version is likely correct. Otherwise this makes no sense, given the Switch fanbase is a huge portion of Atelier sales at this point.
My Guess that because Nintendo doesn't have that strong of a presense compared to Sony in Europe despite the switch's success. So I think these publishers don't thing that effort is worth it. Same thing is happening with Capcom and the MVC collection.
The problem with the EU switch situation is, if you get an American version the game is bound to get dlc, and that won’t be compatible with the eu store

I think it'll be cross generational. Maybe I'm overly hopeful. But maybe a Switch 2 cartridge could also be compatible with the Switch 1? Giving the less enhanced version. Just guessing though. We'll just have to wait and see what Nintendo reveal.

Yeah, I've had 0 issues with an Atelier game on Switch. They've usually been super smooth. Although I did hear Ryza 3 did struggle occasionally, I haven't played that one yet.
Hope they make more atlier game this be my first in series and price yeah it high but we got awhile before it out. Excited to see what happens let’s go 😊

Atelier Yumia is the first Atelier game with text translations in several languages,, so I guess this is the price for non physical release..

@@MaGrenade yeah I usually get games on PlayStation physical that have graphics similar to this because I just don’t trust the switch to run the game well. I’m sure that changes with the successor to the Nintendo switch but we have yet to see it.
@@MiamiSunrisewell the switch does run the Ateiler games very well. Sure the PlayStation versions are better but the switch version are still great!
Yeah, I've had 0 issues with an Atelier game on Switch. They've usually been super smooth. Although I did hear Ryza 3 did struggle occasionally, I haven't played that one yet.

@@PhysicalParadise i have all atelier physicals on switch in canada. i personally thought ryza 3 was not exactly great on switch so this time around i will play the game on PC but i will still buy the physical for the sole sake of finishing that collection, we know it's the last OG switch atelier.
Okay, I should state that Ryza 3 is one of them I haven't had the time to play yet. So I can see that maybe struggling. But the rest have been solid.
