Well you opened on their instrumental - tough ask. Their flagship song off the same album is Master of Puppets. A hell of a song to do with lyrics about drug addiction. Great reaction.
yeah, they used to put one instrumental on each album back in the day... the ride the lightning, master of puppets, and justice for all days. The good days of metallica, although their newest double album is a beast and sounds like their old sound in a lotta ways.
When you see a person hearing Metallica for the first time and they start banging their heads.. Beautiful to see a person hear this for the first time. I wish I could go back.
They way the bass and lead guitar play back and forth off each other is fucking amazing!! It's one of those timeless songs that will live on, a great legacy for an amazing bassist! RIP Cliff, you are terribly missed, gone far to young
Do not listen to anyone who says do a different album. This is the album that made them THE Metal band in every metal kids library! "Master of Puppets", "Sanitarium", "Disposable Heroes", "Battery", "Damage Inc.", the album before this one is FIRE AF also. Ride The Lightning / Metal Up Your Ass.
@@flataffect ALL of the artwork I had at the time, a concert Tee, a poster, and a flyer from a small venue show in San Fran, said Metal Up Your Ass, and it became synonymous with the album.
You started out right! This is a masterpiece! Here's a little fun fact for you. At 07:49 and ends at 08:08 is Cliff Burton's bass solo that sounds like a guitar solo. He was that good. RIP Cliff!
Great reaction! Metallica’s songs are incredibly deep both instrumentally and lyrically. You’ll see what I mean as you tumble down the Metallica rabbit hole. Welcome! Love to see this!
Always dug this son when I was younger I was a huge Metallica Fan. My rap name is Orion but this song had nothing to do with me choosing that name. Great video!
3:58 Ironically, when Undertaker came out on a motorcycle as the "American Badass," his entrance song was Kid Rock's song called "American Badass," which is Kid Rock rapping over a remix of Metallica's guitar riff from their song called "Sad But True".
The late Cliff Burtons masterpiece!!! Like everyone is suggesting, I would say maybe Master of Puppets off the same album next or maybe Enter Sandman or Harvester of Sorrow from the 91 Moscow concert would be an experience. There was an estimated 1.6 million people at that festival. Its definitely mind blowing!
Of all their instruments, this is my favorite. To think- they were only in their early 20s (like 23) when they wrote this. Other instrumentals of theirs to check out; Anesthesia (pulling teeth); Bass Solo The Call of Kutulu To Live is to Die
@@fredtello because the mainstream music scene is full of talentless hacks at the moment. People who couldn't write a children's song, let alone a song that should be on the radio. I'm not saying there isn't talented artist now, there definitely is, just the majority of mainstream is dog shit.
Great reaction. Orion is full on for a first time. There's only really 3 songs you need to hear to get why people love Metallica. Fade to Black. One. Master of Puppets. With lyrics!
Great reaction. The cover art for the album (crosses with strings attached) goes hand in hand with the title song “Master of Puppets” which deals with addiction and all the lives it tragically takes.
Hi King and Cammy, glad you loved the instrumental of this song. Metallica is known as story tellers of heavy metal music. I recommend to you to listen to master of puppets. It's one of my favorite songs from Metallica and their take on what drugs can do to people and the cycle of drugs. There is no regrets on this song.
Great song, have seen them twice in concert here in NZ in the 90's. They have also played with the San Francisco symphony orchestra on two occasions, the first one called S&M released in 1999 is a masterpiece, which I highly recommend you listen too.
The best band ever….period 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘….you have at least 60 Metallica-bangers ahead of you making yoy realize why Metallica is unmatched….above and beyond 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
Metallica is definitely one of the greatest bands to ever walk this planet. Their catalogue is full of solid bangers like One, Master of Puppets, The Unforgiven trilogy, Fade to Black, Seek and Destroy and so on. Also do check out Megadeth, the front-man of Megadeth used to be the lead guitarist of Metallica, they've quite a history.
Amazing reaction, you guys both seemed to take to the music immediately. This song is one of the greats for sure, from what is considered one of the best metal albums of all time. I would love to see a reaction to the whole album. Start with track one "Battery", and work your way through it. The concept of "Master of Puppets" is repeated throughout the album. The cover art represents the graves of fallen soldiers, victims of the puppetmasters of war. Drugs, religion, social conformity, are other ways in which one can be controlled, and are the topics of some of the albums other songs. They were in their early twenties when they released this, their third album. Lyrics are a must with a lot of Metallica's songs. James Hetfield is one of metals better lyricists. And I can't wait for you to hear his voice.
What a song to start to, but I’m glad that you actually started with the best of Metallica and not with Enter Sandman which is the easiest choice but really not the best of Metallica.
Good first choice and I enjoyed your reaction. Perhaps you should try the song “Master of Puppets” from the same album, to introduce you to some great lyricism! :)
Just remember,, these guys were but teenagers wene they composed this🤔🤔 but teenagers,, back 1984)85, these guys were part of a revolution I music,, it had to be composed,, not just written to out out an album,, every song fit into the theme of and said album,, b side was as good a a side
SINCE YOU'VE STARTED WITH THIS ALBUM, TRY "MASTER OF PUPPETS" WITH LYRICS. WHILE YOU'RE WATCHING THE VIDEO, YOU SHOULD DO A LITTLE RESEARCH ABOUT THE MEANING OF THE SONG SO YOU COULD UNDERSTAND IT. ENJOY IT!!! 🤘🏼🎶
You seem like you do well going right to the source. This is their best instrumental and actually my favorite song by the band. Dont’ just do the normal Metallica listeners progression, go right for the gold. Try: “Eye of the Beholder” or “Shortest Straw” for a taste of their lyrics at the vocalist’s peak.
If you want to keep going with this masterpiece of album and want great compositions and lyrics give Master of Puppets, Welcome Home(Sanitarium), Disposable Heroes and Leper Messiah a try.
If you enjoyed this song... you'll probably enjoy these suggestions from Metallica as well... To live is to die ( R.I.P Clifford Lee Burton 💔), Master of puppets, One - official music video, For whom the bell tolls, Fade to black, Leper messiah, Battery... enjoy your jorney down the Metallica rabbit hole 😎

This song is a Masterpiece!

BACK TO THE FRONT!
Not sure why OP put “metal up your ass” there as if it’s another name for RTL. It’s just ride the lightning.
@@flataffect ALL of the artwork I had at the time, a concert Tee, a poster, and a flyer from a small venue show in San Fran, said Metal Up Your Ass, and it became synonymous with the album.
I love puppets but lightening is also a great one
I mean dude. I love MOP but it seems quite disrespectful to ignore ride the lightning. That album is pure gold too.
