I DID THE EXACT SAME THING 😂. My Switch is having issues with the joycons constantly losing connectivity or not being recognized, forcing me to play docked only. So this is a huge fix handheld mode, and being a GameCube Style controller is a HUGE Pro as GC was probably one of my favorite consoles.
I just received this in the mail yesterday. Considering the sheer comfort of this thing, the quality of the rumble, gyro support, and no stick drift: I think I favor this over the original Nintendo pro controller without a doubt.
I heard that a third party company called skull & co did a limited run of the gamecube grips. Those ran out pretty quick. This seems like a good alternative.
The one thing that keeps this from absolutely perfect for me is that lack of 8-way notches the original GameCube controllers had, other than that I would absolutely love to get this if I ever get a Switch.
I have one of those Power A wireless GameCube controllers for my switch and I love the notched analog sticks - you wouldn't think it makes such a big difference but it really does.
Since i got my steam deck, i havent touched my switch just because of the comfort of SD. This may be something to actually get me to play my switch again

I have been using the Split pad pros, and I love them but my brother and I always questioned their choice of making them modular, why not a single piece and include all vibration a motion control? There was no reason for making them separated. Now that you have given this your blessing, I am going to snatch one.

would love if they made this in the silver that some Gamecube's were in instead of just the default color. but really looks good. Really tempting, too. I'm using a Hori left joy-con, black and gold Zelda theme that would fit with the Zelda themed Wii U, with a comfort grip (with slots for four cartridges on the back) made by a company called Yok. But this looks like a superior set-up, especially since the paint inside that left joy-con seems to be peeling.

Guys, get this fast, I had a problem with my left rail, so instead of repairing it just bought the same but from a different company and saved me money and also gave me the extra grip
When I heard "GameCube styled", I though it would be more of a streach and just be indygo, but it actually does make me think "GameCube", when I see it.
Instant pick up for me, I only play my switch in handheld, and after playing on my steam deck the switch feels small and cramped. Been looking for something like this with rumble/motion controls and it's shocking how few options there really is

Awesome but... the face buttons need rotated as a group) 90 degrees. The green A button should be at the bottom, reb b nearest to center, Y on top, and x to the right. I get that they're laid out like switch, nes... okay basically all other things Nintendo but if it's supposed to be a portable GameCube... Also lack of analog triggers is a deal breaker.
This is super cool, just wish it was separate powered joycons so I could put this back in the dock to charge as is and also use the pads without it being attached to the switch. Still for the price it’s pretty great.

It's a pity they didn't give it GameCube face buttons, though. Nice that they're larger buttons than on Joy Cons, but an actual GameCube controller just feels very different with that overly large A button. Maybe in a version 2.
It's a certain Irony, because Sega was one of the Earlier ones to use the Hall Sensor Joysticks for the Dreamcast. It kinda blows the mind, that they didn't try and bring it back for these modern consoles.
The latency in the Joycons make them unusable to me, especially in the NES/SNES emulators. Combined the natural emulator lag, I feel I'm playing completely different games. For $50, adding a hardwired connected, getting a REAL dpad and a hall sensor pad seems like a great deal.
This really looked similar to Dobe Nintendo Switch Controller. I think its TNS-19252, but Dobe release new one TNS-1125 white color with added more buttons on the back.
@@profpoyo For now I didn't know if they gonna implement the hall effect analog or not, but if this version is capable to do it, why not? The possibility is there, just swap it.
I have Dobe TNS-19252. It's okay overall, but the d-pad is terrible, it eats at my big finger worse than the Dreamcast controller's, making it impossible to play 2d stuff with it. I also don't like playing fast-paced FPS games with it due to ergonomics (mostly weight distribution), and I don't think it has hall sensors sticks (they're fine though). I might buy this, not sure it'll be a straight upgrade, but the d-pad seems leagues better than the Dobe one's.
Close but no cigar for me. I need something that acts as a joycon, and a controller for docked mode. I cannot find anything in Canadian retailers that truly pleases my liking. I bought controllers last Christmas, and the direction pads on both were horrible. I've been very weary eversince.
For anyone considering buying this, I have a very unfortunate issue with the triggers. If press them on the outer corner right next to the R/L button, they get stuck. Which now happened on multiple occasions during normal play. They don't get stuck in a way that keeps pressing the trigger, but it's irritating nontheless. And they feel mushy.
You can capture the real colours easily. Using Sony Xperia HDR mode video. Even old model from 2018 that cost around $70 is fine. I owned 3 models. And yeah, by comparing them side by side with other android brands including iPhone, it truly capture colours true-to-life.
This is such a minor complaint, but I wish that companies making these kinds of controllers include rail covers for the older Switch models so there wont be any big gaps on both sides when connected. I bought the Dobe eggshell comtrollers because I loke its size and it has the same "issue." No rail covers so rhe Switch tends to move when you press the power button because of those empty spaces.
I consider this a miss still. It's almost like companies don't understand that gamers want back buttons, while the hori split pad pro isn't the best controller for the switch, it does have back buttons which is a game changer on many games.

I went to buy one, out of stock, but plenty on eBay for 2-3x the original price 😂😂😂 scalpers are trash. When it comes back in stock I’ll order one for sure, it looks pretty slick! After looking this over, it’s nearly identical to my ULCLAYRUS grip. The only differences are the location of the turbo button, the ULCLAYRUS grip has two dual-vibration motors as well as four mappable buttons on the backside. The face buttons are also slightly further from the screen, like an Xbox controller.

The controller is great. Only problem I have is that it ruins the gyro controls in Doom 1 & 2 since it reverses the aiming. Funnily enough in Super Mario Galaxy this controller lets me use gyro for the cursor instead of touching the screen.
The only reason I returned my switch was it felt not sturdy so I've been stuck with a switch lite and I've wanted a bigger screen now I'm going to buy a switch and this. Crazy how it took so long for a company to do this

I hated those. The whole point of the analog is 128-256 degrees of motion... Instead of 8-16 of a dpad.

It's really good compared to the others, large buttons, large sticks, comfily fits the switch.

Nexigo ones are fantastic and you don't lose the ability to dock it while they are on. Also they can come off and work as a pro controller.
Good to know. I guess I'd be better off buying a Steam Deck over a Switch.

Latency on usb connection is negligible since it's connected directly to motherboard unlike with Bluetooth.

To obtain the purple on camera I think you had to white balance not on your desk but on the white part of the OLED switch screen.

I have the Nexigo clone. It's easy to dislodge the spring mechanism in the shoulder buttons, but near impossible to fix.

Wish they had different shaped buttons like the GameCube. The current way just feels like a paint job more than a controller based off something.
