Nice tutorial! Don't forget though, that the best way to post photos on Instagram currently is in a 'portrait' ratio which is 4:5 - it takes up the most real estate on a screen, so you don't need to crop to a 1:1 and lose out on some of your image.
You're right man! That's a great point. I should explore that more. I've been pretty old school with my 1:1, it's a weird OCD thing.

So I saw somewhere that you can use the Focos app and portrait Mode and record a video. Can this be done?
I don't think so. There have been a couple of huge updates since this video... but nothing that supports video. Picking focus in video will be an exciting breakthrough that I'm sure is coming very soon! In iOS 12 Apple introduced choosing your focus after you take a portrait photo, like focos... but nowhere near as feature rich.
Nice one. I love that new app you found. I'm still paying off the 6S+ though! LOL. VSCO seems like a good free one for the intermediate process...I might use Lightroom CC in it's place as that's what I use for gradin' 'n croppin' for IG, but that's not free. I like the bonus tips on composition and color, plus a nice pop at the end for inspiration. Keep up the quick tips. Love 'em.
I love Lightroom cc. It's a little more advanced on the phone and I might do a tutorial on it. Focos may work on the 6. If not just shoot cool stuff anyway. :)
Thanks for the reminder to just shoot cool stuff. I'm trying as I just got my first DSLR (I'm over 50). Old dog learning new tricks. I will pick up Focos and see if it works, but the 6s Plus only has a single camera. In the mean time, I'll keep shooting in Lightroom CC as I can switch to DNG and get a lot more out of my effects. Can't do that with the native camera. Just getting started in IG (kev_mon). Started playing around with Spark, but now I'll post more photos.
If there's one thing my parents taught me, it's that age is meaningless when it comes to creativity! I think it's fantastic you're doing what you love to do. Also, one thing I want to stress more moving forward, and something I need to get better at myself - there is a huge focus on "new" gear right now on youtube. Being a consumer world, it's naturally become a platform to sell more stuff. But the truth is a lot of the new gear coming out has only incremental changes. There have been some landmark revolutions (drones, gimbals, etc) - but I want to stress that we don't "need" new gear to make content. We need our own creativity. You don't need the latest phone or the focos app. It's something that happened to work for me cause I have the phone... but I think I made plenty of great photos before I had said phone. It's just one option. I think if people have a passion for what they are doing, and let that shine through, that's what counts and connects with audiences. With that being said, I am actually doing a one year embargo (call it a detox) on buying any new gear myself. Partly as a cleans, partly because I was getting fiscally irresponsible, partly as a test of my own will :)

I’ve run in to problems with the frame rates and it failing on long recording sessions. I also cleverly record my voice audio on my computer so I can multiclip sync my camera and my screen capture in premiere. Works great.
