Well that red and white one looked like he was out to Win he hasn the hammer down the whole time. Meanwhile the green and white ones look like he was out for a Sunday drive just cruising. Fun video fun rally for sure
Decided to publish this video that has been unlisted since december 2020. I hope some Mercedes fans will enjoy. Rather publish than delete. :) More videos to come this week!
Awesome to see the SLC's even though that course would have been unsuited to their power and size, a huge amount of Mercedes Benz racing history can be attributed to the SLC and my educated guess is that the V8 was just too much for the tight course. FYI if they were running V8's it would have been 3.5l or 4.5 lt if they were earlier models and they are both totally different in terms of Torque and Horsepower with IMO the 3.5 M116 engine being better suited to that type of course as it revs harder. The 4.5 is a torque monster so better suited to open courses.
Fun, I never really considered Mercedes a rally car, heck they break in city/highway driving and you can't afford to fix them. But hey they are fun to watch
They are pretty rare in the forests unfortunately, but when one tuned, and roaring engine comes to life, it's always fun to watch! Made this video in december 2020 and just left it unlisted since then, haha. Had to decide to publish or delete. ;)
Your comment is true for Mercedes made after the year 2000 (and a couple in the late 90s). The cars depicted here however, the w201 and the r107 are some of the most over engineered cars on the planet, back when Mercedes engineers outranked accountants. In fact, the w201 (sedan car in vid) was actually designed to compete in the WRC, except they quit when Audi arrived with the Quattro. Regardless, the body has an extremely low drag coefficient, ridiculously stiff chassis, a 5 link rear end built for rallying that puts power down extremely well, etc. If you can find one with a manual trans and do some standard rally mods, the thing turns into a beast! Just look at the ones participating in DTM on RUclips against the M3! The r107, or c107 (depending on SL or SLC) shown here is what Mercedes raced in WRC before the w201 development. Anyway, point is that the older Merc’s are bulletproof in their construction, and you don’t have to fork out thousands for some broken computers like the new ones.

Es muy chulo. Yo tengo un video short de un coche igual
Vraiment un manque de reprise sur les Mercedes, les moteurs sont puissants. Dommage, mais elle non pas de reprise. Peut être le pilote.
