My wife and I, are both pensioners and found the uncapper very simple and effective to use. It makes uncapping sealed honey frames much easier and with an awful lot less mess. Placing uncapped frames in the uncapper acts as a simple and effective counterweight when lifting the frames out.

      Hi David,
I love the idea of using uncapper frames as a counterweight, makes a lot of sense.
DId you have a good crop of honey to extract this season?

If I’m being honest, after 10-20 frames your fingers would be killing lifting the frames out of that thing. You can use a roller with spikes for the same effect. I’ll swerve it thanks.

      Hi There,
Actually, I didn't find it a problem and we processed around 200 frames in that session. It won't be for everyone but I found it worked well for us having processed around 200 frames in that session.

We've got one of these. Bit late harvesting this year, hopefully we have some success with ours 🤞🏻

It worked really well for us in that session processing around 200 frames.
Good luck with it when you do get to use it. One tip I would add is to fix it down to something solid, the rollers do clamp the frame quite firmly and you end up lifting the tub!

@TheNorfolkHoneyCo great tip! thanks Stewart! We've had a very bad year so won't get much practice this time around. But we're looking forward to trying 😁

Interesting design. Saw a prototype of this a while back. My feeling is that a one size fits all device a better proposition. Price prohibitive for small beekeepers. Might work as something assocations could hire out ? But serious consideration is ease of use. Stuart seemed to Have difficulty removing frames once inserted. This would be far more difficult for elderly beekeepers or those with wrist or finger issues. Think the design would benefit from a lever device. Drop frame in depress lever so frame is uncapped then lift lever to remove frame. Far more ergonomic and possibly quicker. That would be a much better option and something i would be interested in. Just seems a phaff atm and you'd need to have a lot of frames to uncap to make it worthwhile and pay for itself. Just my thoughts.

      Hi Steve,
I understand your views. Just to comment on the lifting out of frames, it is very tricky when there isn't anything holding the box down, I think a table clamp or strap would help. Once the box had a fair amount of honey in it there wasn't any problem. I think there are likely to be further improvements as feedback is given to the designers.
It was as quick as any other uncapping tool/system we've used so after a few modifications such as bolting it to the uncapping tank that we have, I think it will work just fine.

@@TheNorfolkHoneyCo Hi Stewart. Thanks for the clarification. My observations weren't meant as criticism just observations. I've never used one so thank you for your perspective. Best wishes Steve

      Hey Steve,
Didn't take it as criticism, it's always good to get feedback of any sort, I've lost count of the number of times I've discovered a different way of doing things, sometimes a better way of doing things, through comments here and in my Patreon group.
      I hope you've had a good season.

Funny I bought one like this from the US I think 🤔 🤔 ten years ago!!!!!

From discussions with the designers, the US version was slightly different and I think they've looked to make improvements on their design. I found it worked well for our frames during that session of around 200 frames.

The price is just ridiculous. Seems everything with beekeeping gets an extra hobby tax attached.

I agree, the cost is crazy, would also like to see it cleaned

It is because they are niche products and they sell relatively few units compared to things that every one buys like toasters etc.

      Hi Craig,
The price may seem high but it's easily comparable to other uncappers/machines that are out there. It worked well and I think it may be something Associations might invest in for memebers perhaps.
