Chiakis latest update allows you to play on any wifi network without needing to port forward, and if you sleep the steam deck and turn it on later it automatically tries to reconnect to your ps5. This along with all the settings options, Oled screen and HDR makes it better than the actual Portal imo

Here is a idea! Do game reviews steam but only review games you feel are worth playing and then talk about why you should play.for example my girl friends loves games that give directions like a map or bread crumbs that show the next destination. This would be positive talking about why you should play a game no why you should not:)

*Thoughts* *on* *the* *PSP* *3/Vita* *2*
It’s still vaporware at this point. Nobody knows what Sony will call it. How could I have thoughts on a device that doesn’t even exist yet? Well, here goes. I’m reluctant on quite a few things from it.
    - If we can play all PS4 games on this new Sony handheld, do we have to repurchase those games again? If we must rebuy them again, then it’s a no.
    - How much will these digital PS4 games costs? By 2026-2027 or whenever it’s released, I’m not paying $50+ for decade-old games. I don’t want to rebuy them or pay that much for old games.
    - It’s going to be a closed platform being console-like and less PC. It took years for Vita to be hacked. I didn’t mod/hack/jailbreak my PSP 1000 until 2010 or 5.5 years after I got it. So if you want emulation, you’re going to have to wait for years while PC handhelds like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Legion Go can do emulation right out of the box.
    - Sony has lately been angering gamers with censorship, WOKE agendas, subscriptions with more paywalls, and games disappearing from people’s accounts. It feels Sony and Nintendo doesn’t want us to really own the games we bought. At least with Steam, it stays there. Steam will not disappear like digital stores for the 3DS and Wii U.
I think the Steam Deck eliminated my need for another PlayStation handheld. I have only 10 games for my PS4 because it only had 500 GB, but I can find most of them on Steam.
There are still quirks with owning a Steam Deck. For instance, I was replaying Chapter 9 from FF7 Remake Intergrade because I’m after the manuscripts to upgrade my weapons. There was some terrible lag in Wall Market. I failed to do the daily updates with the shader cache. Once I got it updated, it was gone. There are quirks found on a PC handheld than the more closed platforms coming from Nintendo and Sony. You can get a more stable experience with them.
My main reluctance is really not wanting to rebuy the same damn games. I had to rebuy Assassin’s Creed IV and The Witcher III which I already had for my Switch Lite. I only bought them again because I prefer the superior graphics on the Steam Deck. I don’t know if this new Sony handheld will be that much more powerful than the Steam Deck as I doubt Switch 2 will be that powerful either. Then the lack of emulation from Sony and Big N. It took years to crack 3DS and Vita.
Another big reason I’m reluctant for a Sony handheld is I don’t really want to replay the same games I already got a platinum trophy for. While I’ve enjoyed FF7 Remake Intergrade for the most part, I do not want to platinum this game ever again. No way do I want to repeat trying to beat Jules in pull-ups or fighting Weiss. Once I get platinum, I rarely will want to play it again. And I hear Rebirth is a nightmare to platinum. Not worth it, I’m hearing.
By the time this new Sony handheld is released, the market is going to be very crowded. Sony should’ve released a handheld like 3-4 years ago or at least before the Deck came out. Now Sony is playing catch up while the Deck is only gaining more “steam” as the de facto PC handheld at a great price while still offering a close to a console-like experience from a PC handheld. PC handhelds are the way to go. Nintendo and Sony are usually stuck on those same specs for 5+ years. A PC handheld can get closer to current desktop PC performance since there are more mid-gen upgrades.
It’s almost like owning a Steam Deck and Sony handheld will be overkill. And with the death of third-party exclusives imminent as Square Enix is breaking away from their PS5 exclusivity, what’s the point with another Sony handheld if you already own a PC handheld? What advantage does a Sony handheld have over the current handhelds out now? People will buy Switch 2 because Nintendo’s first-party IPs are way more popular than Sony’s and we can find some Sony titles on Steam like God of War, Spider-Man, Uncharted 4, Ratchet & Clank, etc.
I recently found a great price on a Razr+ 2023. Seller is only willing to sell it to me for $150. But the thing is, I have a Z Flip 3 and Razr 5G I rarely have been using the last 3 months since getting a Steam Deck. What’s the point getting a third flip? Honestly, if the Steam Deck is the last handheld I’ll ever buy in my entire life as I may not game all that much in my 50s or 60s, I would be cool with that. And I prefer more of the PS1/PS2 eras than the PS3/PS4 eras. The Vita offers me the first two PlayStation eras I prefer.
There’s also an ecosystem element involved with these handhelds similar to smartphones. I started off with iOS with the first gen iPhone but I eventually preferred Android by 2013. I still prefer Android but recently went back to iOS due to sending MMS easier to relatives. I know too many people already too invested with iOS. They can’t leave it. That’s similar to these handhelds. People are already too invested with their games on Steam. Why have another online account? Not like the Sony first-party stuff is that appealing. The PlayStation brand relied mostly on third-party exclusives. Not first-party.
To me, Steam Deck is close enough to the perfect handheld that I’ll ever need. But I’m still waiting for that handheld that can play AAA titles at 60 fps and give me at least 5 hours of battery life instead of only one. It would be cool if Sony released a handheld that looks like this Odin 2 Mini considering AYN blatantly copied the Vita design. A Sony handheld that weighs 320 g but has more power than the current Deck and Switch 2 would make it more enticing.
In the end, they’re just video games. We move onto the next device like we do with smartphones. Not one gadget will remain your favorite forever and ever. People will buy the upgraded replacement eventually. We can say we love these gadgets today but we can easily replace them by tomorrow for the next one and the next one and the next one. Buying a new one is coming from FOMO. Buy three handhelds and I guarantee that two of those three will barely be used.

You're spot on with a lot of aspects that I consider myself with a rumored PS handheld. Its been 2 years since the introduction of the Steam Deck, with all of Sony's misgivings from 2021 onward and failure to provide a similar solution to the Deck, who is to say most of the market that this device appeals too didn't already switch to Steam?
My PlayStation library is almost all physical, but in the two years since the Decks releasse I've grown a healthy collection of Steam games. I am not sure if I would have done the same if a PlayStation handheld was available at that time but its really too late for me. My guess is the device would be almost console equivalents in terms of price and support for it could end in just under one console generation. I will never forget how PlayStation patched out data transfers from VIta & PS3 long after support had left both devices.I would not be suprised if the device would create cloud save conflicts and not seamlessly update like the Deck. I wonder if the device would even have remoteplay or if they'd omit the feature to not canabalize the Portal. Nothing is certain with PlayStation and knowning them they'll find away to cross consumers the wrong way, thats been their whole philosophy this generation.

You're right, 45fps is such a good compromise on the Deck.

Great video as always. the gear head in me wants to buy a controller for the deck, but I never use it docked, So I have yet to think of a situation when the built in controls aren't enough for me. maybe one day when my setup changed, i'll want my deck to be able to plug into a tv or something.

I haven't used my Switch since I completed the main scenario in Future Redeemed, I have a few games in the pre-order process but I am just waiting for the next device to come out. I will continue to buy games physically for it and the PlayStation 5 but with more thought and care than before. I suspect I will be buying a good deal of titles over again as they get Switch 2 ports so the cycle will repeat.
I am trying to duplicate my library on Steam, its a slow process and not every game is critical enough to warrant being purchased again but it will take a long time. Having three platforms that share multipatform releases can be head scratching on where to play. An example being SMT Vengeance, with having 150hrs of investment into the Switch vanilla game it poses a question do I want to lock my progression again to a console or be able to access that progression across any PC device I own for the rest of my life?
