How to make a persistent Kali Linux Live USB Drive | 2018

- In this video you learn how to make portable hacking usb persistence drive. Things we need..
1) USB Drive (above 8 GB)
2) Linux ISO image
3) MiniTool Partition Wizard
4) Win32Disk Imager

Setting in MiniTool Partition Wizard...
Partition Lable: persistence
Create As: primary
File System: Ext4
Than Apply
its take 10-15 min

Basic Command For linux
root@kali:~# mkdir -p /mnt/linux
root@kali:~# mount /dev/sdbX /mnt/linux/
root@kali:~# echo "/ union" * /mnt/linux/persistence.conf
( replace * with right angle bracket )
root@kali:~# umount /dev/sdbX
Now reboot Kali linux system
If Persistence.conf is not Creating, than Create it with Nano
root@kali:~#nano /mnt/linux/persistence.conf
In this file, type / union
Same as Video And Save it.
OR try This
root@kali:~#sudo sh -c "echo "/ union" * persistence.conf
Replace * with Right Angle Bracket

Okay to help anyone who's trying to make a persistence usb here what you need to do.
Follow the steps all the way until you make the persistence partition after that when you reboot to the USB, don't click on kali Linux persistence, click the first option kali Linux live and then type the code that he showz and don't worry if you have a different sbx3 or whatever, just make sure you do the second one. After that follow all the command show on the video and then when you reboot then like on kali Linux persistence, after that you are all set and should work.

Does this entire prosses work with windows 8.1 UEFI bootloader instead of legacy bootloader
@@yee-ji5ib Not at all , won't work a single bit IF it is a uefi only one , but it isn't and Jedi can boot MBR so if I change it to uefi should work.

People suggest making partitions for var, usr, home, root, and shared swap files. It would be great to get the pros/cons of doing these partitions, and how to go about it.
Like, if I wanted to use multiple distros on a live usb, but share applications and their dependencies across distros, how would we make that happen?
I never try multiple distribution in same usb. So I have no idea about this.
If you want multiple distros you can use a program named easy to boot
when I rebooted the persistance drive was still there
even though in it there is persistance.conf with / union in it
and it doesnt store anything
edit: I changed the persistance.conf to persistence.conf still didnt work do I need to change the name of the drive aswell

I can't rename the drive i haven't got the permission. it is specify in the drive's properties. How did you do ?

For those who have a problem in persistance : make sure you are not installing a version coming after 2018

Thank you so much for this video. Everything worked well except for a small problem my touchpad does not works in kali linux but an external mouse does work and in the mouse and touchpad window no option is displayed for the touchpad. Can you please help me with that.

on my samusung chromebook 3 im able to get to the kali linux desktop but then nothing works and then my screen keeps shutting off and now i can barely get through the log in and then the screen shuts off. is this a usb port issue?

I did this twice, but it will not keep any changes. When logging back on I get the persistence USB icon and the Live icon though and the screen looks great like a regular install.
My changes is not saved

Knowing that I get the /union in my persistence. Conf
when i use last command root@kali:~# umount /dev/sdb3 message : (bash: unmount: command not found)
Replace umount /dev/sdb3 in place of umount /dev/sdb6. If your third partition is sdb6.
When I do the minitool process and it finished and then I boot up kali and go to disk -l only sdb1 comes up. Any help? I'm using a 32 gb USB stick

Well I do create the file and when I reboot the computer It will still be there together with all the data stored inside the same folder as the config file, but the rest like settings are gone. Pls help.
Make sure your drive had a FAT32 partition ( watch at 0:57 ) and a Ext4 (watch at 3:40)
