- For some, their profession is a way of life. Never saying no to an animal in need, this practicing veterinarian has over 30 pets, including a pack of Saluki dogs.
Salukis are one of the oldest breeds of dog known to have trekked across the deserts, the Silk Road, and many landscapes throughout Arabia and Mesopotamia. These dogs were the constant companions of Arabs who used them for hunting. Even to this day, it is the only breed of dog that an Arab would allow into his home -- such is their connection with this breed.
Their newest landscape? Tropical Malaysia. Living in the Shah Alam district of Selangor, Hasnul Ismail is a proud owner of 14 Saluki dogs, ranging in age from a few weeks to six years old.

I used to walk with a pack of UNLEASHED Salukis. Even though they run ahead of you they come back, the longer you walk the closer to you they stay but when you first release them they are too excited to stay close. Where I am from people don't like dogs much either, it's a cultural thing and probably related to hygene misconceptions. The reactions people had when they realized the dogs were walking with me and following commands were priceless... some curiosity but mostly fear. I guess it can be a little intimidating if you're not the pack leader and have never seen anything like it.

There is a Salukis centre in Saudi Arabia. The Arabian reared Salukis in theirs home.
