Man thanks for educating me on how to shorten a chain. When I was little my dad replaced my chain and didn't use a chain breaker. I couldn't remember how he did it. Now I know. You have a real smart little tool helper in training. You can tell you're a good dad. Thanks again.

Thanks so much for the post!! My garage door cable recently broke so I bought a new one online and it came a couple links too long. Went to youtube, found this, and was up and running in a few minutes with no special tools. Saved me lots of time and possibly a service call. Thanks again!

It works. You can also try pumpkin seeds, or any other seeds that you can spit with specific sound. Dependimg on the type of seed used, the chain will have different strength. Try 2-3 types of seed and decide which is the best for you chain type
Ok how do you put the pin back in? Cause i usually push the pin out just to where it's in one link, that way you can push the pin back in, no master link needed...lol idk if everyone does this but i do
Dune Buggy Part 12 is in the making, I am only minutes away from going out and putting the windshield in. I should get my little helper to help out, I know she is in the video this time blowing the horn... Thanks for watching.
It should have one and it looks different from the rest. It has a clip on the side so that you can take it apart and put it together. I hope you find it. Thanks for watching.
Didn't work for me. The rivets were too tight to be knocked out this way because it wasn't possible to hold the chain steady enough, but they came right apart with a $15 chain break tool.
If you spin the chain, you should be about to find it. Look on both sides. There is a possibility that there is no master link... Good luck and thanks for watching. Let me know...
did this to try and switch chains from one bike to another only to find out that the chain just doesn't fit at all on the bike lol. but otherwise this method works

Nicely done! Do make sure the closed end of the master link goes points in the direction of travel or the chain could fall off again in the future.

Hi Bud you put the master link locking pin on backwards the closed side should run in the same direction as the wheel does

Thanks and I am glad it worked for you!
How?
Where can I buy the two tools you used to put pressure on the chain and then release the bolt?
Shay Johnson I would say hardware store and get a skinny punch or nail set. Good luck and thanks for watching.

Will this damage the chain? I want to try it on my Pit bike chain, It's a motorcycle chain not a bicycle chain and I don't want to damage it
