Curry just make it look so easy, and he is so consistent and efficient. I see why people hate on him. I personally think if the GSW's were healthy through out the years, they would have won at least 2 more rings.
19:22 nah Curry was never "just a shooter". He's awlays had very good handles and skilled finishing and passing, he simply improved on those things throughout his career, but he's always been very capable of doing those things. This is not a situation where any of these things were ever a weakness. The only weakness Curry has ever had in his game was his size and strength (which obviously contributes to defensive weaknesses and injuries early in his career)
No one is saying Curry is a bad passer or ballhandler Curry has no weaknesses, in either even his defense has improved immensely...but his passing and floor generalship is not on the same level as Magics or Isiahs..if he can win another title and MVP without a superstar player like KD ..I will give him the crown..over Magic I think he has already surpassed Isiah due to his finals performance this year

As of August 2022, Stephen CURRY IS not the Greatest Point Guard of All Time.....yet. If Curry wins 1 more championship, along with FINALS MVP, he'll definitely be able to look MAGIC in the face. Another Regular Season MVP wouldn't hurt either.
@@cameronsaintjohn9460 Look, I'm a STEPHEN CURRY fan too....I live in the BAY AREA. But we're talking about GREATEST of ALL TIME...NOT BEST or BETTER player. Steph hasn't quite eclipsed MAGIC in the GREATEST category....not yet.
I don't really care about the "greatest" label. I would instead, say that he's the most "ideal" point guard of all time. Basketball is fundamentally simple, you put the ball to the basket in whatever way you can, get more points than the opposing team, and you win games. And Curry mastered this fundamental aspect of the game. It doesn't even need to be restricted to the position. Every team would love to have players with Curry's skillset
Steph Curry is not just the greatest POINT GUARD of all time, Steph is the greatest Basketball player of all time and when all is said and done he will be the GOAT. (GOD willing, him staying healthy)
Steph didn't have more help than Magic. In 2017 and 2018 Steph and GS would've made the Finals again without KD and won against Bron. In 2016 if Bogurt didn't get hurt and if Curry was healthy the entire series they beat the Cavs in 5 easy!!! It took Green's Game 5 suspension, Bogurts injury in that very next game and Steph not being 100% to lose only by 4 in a 7 game series? Idk why people have this belief that GS couldn't beat the Cavs without KD. It's hilarious. They didn't need KD just a better SF, that could hit open shots, since Barnes wasn't able to make open 3s. Steph is the better PG IMO but if he gets another chip and FMVP we can move Magic out the way, cause it's about time we take a deeper look into the play styles and impact, with the competition in each eras. Steph has been the best PG since 2014. If we don't include 2020 it's still almost a decade of dominance!! Steph has competed against a lot more elite PGs than Magic has ever had to face in his career!! A prime Parker, Rose, Dame, Russ, Jrue and CP3 which Steph has dominated them. Now there is Luka, Trae, Foxx, Ja and Murray coming up also! Steph's dominating at 34 against these elite FRANCHISE PGs who are a decade younger than him. Steph has been #1 at his position, and yet he say he feels like he's in the middle of his prime lol. Athletes prime start around 26, 27 up until 33?? Steph last season just led the league in scoring and this season won a chip putting up 31, 6 and 5 on All Time great 48/43/86 shooting splits. I can see him playing at this level 2 to 3 more years which is crazy! Steph won't reach Magic assists and maybe rebounds but Steph has a lot more to accomplish in these next 3 years. He is the GSOAT and arguably the GOAT PG when it's all said and done he can be Top 5 All Time and a lot of niggaz don't want to admit that, but please keep doubting Steph and GS. I'd love to see Steph win more chips than Bron, and undeniably surpass Magic as the GOAT PG.
Dismiss Stockton because of the system and the players around him, yet elevate Magic who was constantly surrounded by HOF players? Kareem, Mychal Thompson, James Worthy, Byron Scott.
I agree, His delivery was kind of contradicting. However, I do agree that Stockton isn't a top 5 PG. Neither is CP3. I think Tony Parker is a top 3 PG of all-time behind Magic & Steph. 1. Magic 2.Steph 3. Tony 4. Zeke 5. Oscar
He says “a 32 year old lebron” so casually 😂😂 like it ain’t a big deal he came out of the finals against a juggernaut warriors squad Harden averaged 29 points 11 assist and 8 rebounds that season. 😂
First of all Oscar Robertson was the main and only threat on the Cincinnati Royals team. If he played with Chamberlain or the Lakers his teams may have beaten the Boston Celtics more than once. (Remember the St. Louis Hawks were the only other team to defeat the Celtics with Bill Russell and that was in the mid 1950's) Magic was a true distributor and pass first point guard. We really need to make a decision about Stephen Curry after the 2025-2026 season and look at how many rings, MVP'S and FINAL MVP's Stephen Curry has. Also Magic had his career cut prematurely short by HIV. However in 4 years Curry may be challenging Michael Jordan and LeBron James for greatest player of All-Time not just Magic for greatest pointer guard.
I see where you're coming from and you're not even necessarily wrong, but lets be real: if top 50 player of all time played alongside the likes of Wilt Chamberlain they'd look like the GOAT. And I agree with you where you believe this conversation will be more meaningful once Curry's story is finished.
First of all you're wrong Oscar was not the only threat on the Royals..he played with 50 greatest selection Jerry Lucas..and had other good players around him like Bob Boozer and Wayne Embry both were very formiddable threats. Secondly playing with Chambrlain did't gaurantee beating the Celtics...as West and Baylor who was the second best scorer in the league next to Wilt found out when they faced Russells Celtics they lost 5 out of 7 finals. So having Big O team up with Wilt would not have made a difference unless they had Wilt, West and Baylor all at the same time..maybe they would have been 3-4
First of all Wayne Embry and Jerry Lucas were good players but they were not superstars like Jerry West and Elgin Baylor. Lew Alcindor, who would eventually become Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Jabbar, won a NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks when the Bucks acquired Oscar Robertson. Neither Wayne Embry nor Jerry Lucas were close to the athlete nor player that Oscar Robinson was and his teaming up with Abdul-Jabbar gave them two other top five players playing in the NBA at that time. When Wilt Chamberlain had Hal Greer and Chet Walker as teammates on the Philadelphia 76'ers they won a NBA Championship. Both Hal Greer and Chet Walker were all star players however neither of them were the alltime great player that Oscar Robertson was. I actually saw Elgin Baylor practice at the 92nd Street YM&YWHA. SO YOU ARE INCORRECT IN SAYING THAT OSCAR ROBERTSON WAS NOT A ALLTIME THAT WOULD HAVE HELPED CHAMBERLAIN WIN A TITLE. Oscar Robettson at 6'5" and 220 lbs. Was a huge point guard, just like Magic was in the 1980's.
@@herbmoreira-brown5700 Did you even read my pot???/That was my point Big O's Cincinnati Royals teams weren't as good as Lakers and Celtics. My issue was that suggesting that he was the only threat on his team was absurd, ..as if he played with a bunch of scrubs. Its like saying Tim Hardaway couldn't beat the Lakers in GSW because he was the only threat.....completely ignoring Chris Mullins and Mitch Richmond, Secondly I never said Oscar was not an alltime great..what I said was joining Chamberlain would not have gauranteed a championship against Russells Celtics unless he played with Chamberlain, West and Baylor..that would have combined 4 of the top 10 players in the league at that time..but Oscar and Wilt alone doesn't gaurantee multiple chips over Russells Celtics..just as much as Wilt,West and Baylor didn't gaurantee multiple chips against Russells Celtics..and that just the facts. When I was coming up playing ball Bob Cousy and Big O were the guys I patterned my game after so the notion that I don't acknowledge Big O's all time greatness is ludicrous..but lets not act like he played with scrubs
You know Oscar Robertson is an all time top ten guard of all time and one of the top 15-20 players of all time The Big O as he is called was an 11-Time All-NBA Team selection, 9 first team All-NBA selections and 2 second-team selections. Neither Jerry Lucas, who was a 7 time all-star, nor Wayne Embry, who was a 5 time All-Star, ever made any all NBA TEAMS. Until Oscar Robertson join Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Jabbar and the Milwaukee Bucks he was never on a team that could compete an NBA Championship. So I do not understand why you question me when I say that he was never on a team that could compete with the Boston Celtics. It is just a fact, look it up yourself. I hope I will not have to School you any further.
No he's not..please stop it with the fanboy shit..MJ is the GOAT...period...then you have Kareem, Wilt, Lebron, Kobe, Russell (R.I.P) and a half a dozen or more before Steph. Steph is great but he ain't the GOAT
@@c.kizzee8961 it's unfair for John Stockton since he was drafted into the team, it was not his fault for having the teammates around him. It's like saying Michael Jordan wouldn't have won any rings without Scottie Pippen.
Without Steph there wouldnt be a system+ before Steve Kerr came Curry played Iso-ball and was extremely efficient at it (he is still one of the most efficient isolation scorers by far in the league) Steph's offensive package is incredibly well rounded and he could play damn near any style of basketball as your pg, he has shown to be able to facilitate as well if necessary, stop the cap.
lol and you don’t think lebron doesn’t play the lebron system???? why you think all his “all star” teammates play has always declined when joining him….. the “steph” system favors everyone… even draymond’s trash ass 😂
I agree with you on Curry > Magic. Curry is just a better player in my opinion. If i saw both guys play against each other . Both guys showcasing their skills….im taking curry all day. Actually its an easy choice for me ….
I think magic had more help 🤷🏾♂️ 2 top 5 players all time with great role players. Curry dray n klay developed with each other. They only added 1 top 75 player & the whole league cried cuz curry already a cheat code without kd. Curry really unworldly like mj
Westbroke’s tripe double year was a fake. Steve Adam’s blocked out so Rustle Westbroke could get the rebound. Rust would pass for an assist and yell at teammates to shoot and get angry if they passed. Stat hound dog…
I always think of Curry as more of a shooting guard. Watch a couple of Jason Williams (White Chocolate) highlight videos and you see a pure point guard. Curry is nowhere near Williams level in pushing the ball up the court and distributing the ball, while Williams is nowhere near Curry's level as a shooter. Curry has been successful, but there are so many other point guards that were on his level that making the argument for many to hold the title as "best"would be easy to do.
Before Kerr Steph was casually averaging 8 assists per game. Steph can and has showed that he can be a top top "pure PG", but he's simply the greatest shooter of all time at the same time, so why not maximise that. Why do people try to put other people in a box??? Imagine if u were a coach and u find out that your PG although is a top "pure Pg" is simply the best at shooting than anyone u've ever seen, would u waste that????

Straight away you lost me with the shameful take on John Stockton, you discount him for something the vast majority of great players have benefited from, playing alongside other great players. Magic, widely considered to be the greatest Point Guard of all time played alongside several hall of fame players and 1 in particular who has a case for being the GOAT in Kareem.
No PG has gotten their teammates more open looks than Curry. Whether it’s with his passing or his gravity. If we’re talking hockey assists Curry would have over 18 a game. Gravity
I was about to blast you for your title..but after watching your video i was quite impressed with much of your analysis...even though i don;t agree with all of them...but IMO when it comes to Steph vs Magic...its hard to put a player who's never averaged double digit assist in a season as the greatest pg.Steph is more of a shooting gaurd..with basically similar stats in scoring and assist to Kobe Bryant, Dwade and MJ. While both Steph and Magic had great players around them..Steph had KD in KD's peak..Kareem was not at his peak when Magic had him, Klay and Worthy neutralize each other out..with Klay being the better shooter...also Micheal Cooper as a defender is just a tad bit better than Drammond...but Drammond also is a good facilitator..which Coop was not so the edge there goes to Drammond, Magic also had Jamal Wilkes..but Steph had Boogie and this year Andrew Wiggins who was good enough to be considered for Finals MVP. Like you said Steph is a better scorer than Magic..but when Magic needed to score (like in his first finals as a rookie when Kareem went down..Magic can score with the best of them) Both Magic and especially Isiah were elite scorers when they needed to be..Isiah could put up 30-40 pts any night but it would not have translated into winning Isiah had less talent around him than both Steph and Magic...so arguably its even hard to put Steph ahead of Isiah...but I can accept that argument..but not above Magic as a point gaurd..Steph should be ranked among 2 gaurds which is what he really is. People saying Steph changed the game is a false narrative..the truth is that the NBA and NBA rules changed the game, and Steph just was able to take advantage of it
One thing that I hate that the basketball community tends to do, is treat complex discussions as 'you're either with me or against me.' One thing I will always preach is on this channel is that one has their right to their opinion, and you'll never hear me speak on these complex topics with definitive statements, because there's always the argument to be had against it.
Is Russell Westbrook a point guard or not? Is LeBron James a small forward or not? Steph is absolutely a point guard. He just scores more than most point guards do. Saying Steph isn't a point guard just because he scores is like saying Giannis isn't a center because he has the ball a lot. And while Steph doesn't average as many assists as Magic did, Steph's gravity on the court because of his shooting generates points for his teammates just as well as any pass Magic could make. And Magic is the GOAT in terms of passing the ball, but it's not like Steph is a slouch at passing it either. I don't have Magic behind Steph just yet, but it's closer than people think in my opinion. And he's absolutely ahead of Isiah Thomas, all due respect.
@@rodcav3 I'm not quite there yet either. But it's closer than a lot of people might think. I think if Steph wins another chip/Finals MVP, he'll take the spot.
@@macxavier168 I agree...but in a way players like Steph, Kyre, and Dame are in a category of their own.they are not true point gaurds in the sense of pass first score second like Rondo or CP3..In the 50,60's, 70's and most of the 80's positions were defined by what the gaurds ultimate responsibility was to the team. The shooting guard, as the name implies, is often the best shooter, as well as being capable of shooting accurately from longer distances. The term shooting gaurd meant a gaurd who shoots more than passes and vice versa..in fact in the 50's positions weren't even defined..Bob Cousy was classified as just a gaurd and so was Oscar Robertson In the early days of the sport, there was a "running guard" who brought the ball up the court and passed or attacked the basket, like a point or combo guard. There was also a "stationary guard" who made long shots and hung back on defense before there was the rule of backcourt violations. The game has changed considerable and guys like Steph, Kyre, and Dame are a hybrid of point and shooting gaurds..as much as Bird and Lebron are small forwards but were often considered point forwards
i like tony parker over cp3. more consistent and was always there for the big plays when they needed them and he has a fimals mvp. the guy was great and steady thruout. i think he just gets forgotton.
I go with you guys who thinks that he is the GOAT as a guàrd in the league as his stats will prove it. There are surely those people who hates him thst can easily be understood. Him being MVP all the time makes us think why he was always being out voted in this category. Was it bcuzz of some very influential companies who thinks their brand being promoted will be outshone by the the new brand that Curry is endorsing?
Look folks , this Video is laughably ridiculous . There's no universe where CP3 , Harden , Westbrook , or whoever else are better than John Stockton as a Leader / Playmaker / Defensive Menace . Stockton has like 5000 more Steals and 5000 more Assists than Second Place in either category , which is unthinkable . Karl Malone would have been nobody on any other team . Unfortunately the Jazz just didn't have the Ownership to win Rings . They didn't have that 3rd Superstar like a Tim Duncan , Tracy McGrady , or Kevin Garnett to get them over the hump to win Rings in the 90s . They were unwilling to trade for a player like that , so it cost them . The Jazz did the best they could with the limitations and Bums they had . stockton won't make it in today's NBA???? that is the most laughable thing i have heard. any list of top PGs that does not have stockton in it is not valid. he is probably the TOUGHEST point guard who ever played. he is probably the only PG I can think of in the history who can go one on one against lebron and not wilt in front of him. (well, i would put the glove there as well).
Steph has the highest peak of a PG in NBA history. Steph has burned brighter and longer IMO. And Steph is not just an above average passer. He's one of the best I've ever seen. Just because he doesn't average a whole lot of assists doesn't mean he's worse. Imagine if Steph had Kareem, Worthy, and Cooper, Steph averaging 9 or more assists every season. Steph has had worse teammates a lot more than Magic has. You make the argument that Magic was primarily a passer so many people shouldn't whine about his lack of scoring. So don't whine about Steph's "lack" of passing ability.

Steph curry is not the greatest point guard of all time, for me he is shooting guard the real point guard position do not take the amount of shot like curry does ,Magic Johnson is the greatest and natural point guard ever if you watch this sports for more than 3 decade you know what I’m talking about
You watching the game for 3 decades doesn't mean anything. The PG position has evolved and is not limited to setting up teammates and assist. Magic Johnson is the greatest passing PG that's all. He is not a better defender than Steph cause Zeke on one damn leg was busting his ass in the Finals, and he was 6'1. Steph's a solid on the ball defender so at the least it's above even since Magic also wasn't on no dang All NBA defensive team! Magic being 6'9, he was gonna have more rebounds, but Steph is also an great rebounding PG for his size, and he is only 6'2 instead of 6'9! At the least it's even. Magic playing the center in the 1980s Finals is overrated asf, when you look at the limited wing defenders in that era!! Pippen slowed Magic down in 91 lol? PG13, Kawhi, Bron, and Butler are elite wings, who can really defend Magic in THIS era who will shut Magic down 💯. Magic handles are basic and he can't shoot plus his post game is overrated so tbh he's really just an glorified Ben Simmons man. Magic in this era can't play all 5 positions either. Players are more skilled and better offensively and defensively that's added in with increased athleticism. Steph playmaking is greater than Magic cause whether he's playing on the ball or off the ball, whether he gets an assist or hockey assist, just him being on the court is creating easy buckets for his team. Magic came in playing with Kareem, that lasted 9 seasons. You could replace Magic with anyone in your Top 10, and they would win a chip 1980 too! Magic is only ahead of Steph is because, Steph's 4 chips is
My question is if Curry was better for longer why does Magic have 9 1st team all NBA selections to Currys 4? Curry has no argument for being better than Magic in accolades at all. Also Magic and Larry save the NBA, before them the NBA was literally about to go out of business. So no Curry didn't have more impact, this video maker is just a fan boy, thats all..
The way you try to discredit Westbrooks mvp is crazy. Worst part is when you called a 32 year old Lebron "old" yet he's nearly 38 now and still at the end of his prime. You also tried to give CP3 credit for nearly winning an mvp.
but what has John Stockton done that warrants him a spot on the top 5 pgs of all time? I'll give credit where credit's due, his all time assists and steals record cannot be disregarded in all time debates, but then when comparing him to other all time greats, the only player who he may rank above is Chris Paul. But the reason I have Chris Paul above him is because you take Chris Paul has a higher impact on the teams he's been on than John Stockton who was a system player.
@@peet_ahh8407 I have him above Paul and begind Magic, Curry and Isaiah. Paul shrinks, he has some clutch highlights, but his track record can't be defended. The assist and steals leader is not without merit. And his Jazz played the Bulls better than anyone, those series were close...
Although I respectfully disagree with you I can understand your reasoning. The Jazz were the only team to get that close to taking down the bulls. I think when it comes to John Stockton or Chris Paul, to me it comes down to a who's more talented which is a more arbitrary metric that other people will view differently
@@peet_ahh8407 His numbers speak for him. The man averaged 14 assists from 1987-1992 while scoring almost 17 a game on 52% shooting. You don't have Stockton in your top 5 so I didn't watch the rest of the video. Steph is number 1 I agree, but not having Stockton in your top 5 is absolutely asinine.
LMAO John Stockton is not in your list because of "system". What system are you talking about? Passing and stealing the ball? Is that the most basic things the PG can do. Steph Curry is best in shooting guard not pg. How about talking the Steph system just shooting 3's?
I respectfully disagree. It's not uncommon for a star to face a role player who challenges them. Every player has that one person who seems to have their number. Besides, I've seen Steph cook Caruso on the offensive end.
Curry is the only player in the league that most coaches hsve a headache thats why he instructed his every player to double team or triple team curry. They are instructed to always look for curry after he pas the half court and nit just let him make a short. Another point is his ball handling is so good thay he can make his own shot. Like him or hate him you can't change the facts that curry is a deadly shooter at any range and everyone is intimidated by his presence on the court.

You immediately lost me with your John Stockton comment.
I would say the opposite curry has the highest peak but magic has the longevity
Dismiss Stockton because of the system and the players around him, yet elevate Magic who was constantly surrounded by HOF players? Kareem, Mychal Thompson, James Worthy, Byron Scott.
I agree, His delivery was kind of contradicting. However, I do agree that Stockton isn't a top 5 PG. Neither is CP3. I think Tony Parker is a top 3 PG of all-time behind Magic & Steph.

Greatest shooting point guard but not the greatest point guard. Magic still holds that title.
He’s the greatest pg ever 💯
Curry is also a very good playmaker. He’s a top 7 playmaker of all time while being a top 7 scorer of all time
Don’t think I have ever heard the words “The Bucks Dynasty” until I watched this video
Steph is the greatest NBA player of all time and will keep his title for many years and will go to the hall of fame!
No he's not..please stop it with the fanboy shit..MJ is the GOAT...period...then you have Kareem, Wilt, Lebron, Kobe, Russell (R.I.P) and a half a dozen or more before Steph. Steph is great but he ain't the GOAT
Hey, most of Steph Curry's success comes off of a system within which he has played. So John Stockton has to be considered...
Steph is the SYSTEM. When Curry isn't playing the SYSTEM is always changed.
@@c.kizzee8961 it's unfair for John Stockton since he was drafted into the team, it was not his fault for having the teammates around him. It's like saying Michael Jordan wouldn't have won any rings without Scottie Pippen.

Magic didnt play with a prime kareem and magic’s teams never broke the 69 win franchise record for the Lakers
@@Ojuis. kareem won a MVP in Magic rookie year and averaged atleast 20ppg for 6 of those seasons. They played together
Ur totally right he's not a point guard.. Draymond plays point more and better

Why Steph is a shooting guard.
@@macxavier168 As I said in my post I can accept Steph ahead of Isiah..but its debatable..but ahead of Magic I'm not sold on that yet
The term shooting gaurd meant a gaurd who shoots more than passes and vice versa..in fact in the 50's positions weren't even defined..Bob Cousy was classified as just a gaurd and so was Oscar Robertson
In the early days of the sport, there was a "running guard" who brought the ball up the court and passed or attacked the basket, like a point or combo guard.

Although I respectfully disagree with you I can understand your reasoning. The Jazz were the only team to get that close to taking down the bulls. @@peet_ahh8407 His numbers speak for him.

Curry is the only player in the league that most coaches hsve a headache thats why he instructed his every player to double team or triple team curry. They are instructed to always look for curry after he pas the half court and nit just let him make a short. Another point is his ball handling is so good thay he can make his own shot.
