      Definitely agree, Giannis' leadership at 5.5 was probably an attempt to make the numbers works so that steph ends up above him 😂. Just kidding, on a serious note though i think steph's defense deserves at least a 5 since he is a smart excellent team defender but Giannis deserves a 7-8 in leadership giving 110% every game and leading his teammates to do the same, winning a championship with a good but not excellent supporting cast and being the most valuable player in a finals series i have ever seen. In my eyes they are 1A and 1B right now with Steph's immense gravity making him the best offensive player in the league and Giannis' ability to single handedly win games by himself making him equally good.

    I think you're high on Tatum and low on Jokic's leadership. What more is he supposed to do for his teammates? He gets them open shots with insane passing. The whole offense is built around him. When he's on the court it's a great team, when he's off they're the bottom of the league. I'd bump that up to have Steph, Giannis, and Jokic as a very close top three, and give Tatum a hit on leadership and/or offense based on his finals performance and drop him to below Luca and Jimmy. Might bump Luca up to the Lebron and KD level too. I think he's more unstoppable and a better leader than you have him, but I'd give him a worse defense than Steph so maybe it evens out.

      In fairness I wouldn't use that to measure leadership, but as much as I like Jokic but he as a two time mvp does get a pass for lack team success. Tatum isn't Boston leader and it seems like marcus smart is. I also don't think emibid is a great leader. A lot of these young guys aren't really good leaders and that's more so with their age and not skill. We are starting to move into the Era where the star players are not the leaders.

    • @paulmartinbade
      @paulmartinbade 2 года назад

      I think jokic leadership is 6 because jokic and his teammates cant get there chemistry yet there ball movement is not that good and especially their defense, Leadership means all the players should work together and be a team but the denver nuggets only hopes on jokic, When jokic is on the bench his teammates can't run the offense and defense unlike the Memphis and the warriors.

    • @HummingbirdCyborg
      @HummingbirdCyborg 2 года назад +3

      It's telling that in the intro he described it as elevating those around you, but called that "leadership" when he was actually making the evaluations. That way he could make it more nebulous instead of speaking specifically about how the players improve those around him.
      But, yeah, high level playmaking does improve all of those around you. For others, having insane gravity can improve the situation for those around you. For others, calling out where to be on the floor on defense and communicating well can really improve the defense of those around you.
      Anyhow, this whole "analysis" was just too shallow.

    • @alexbenjaminrosenthal3989
      @alexbenjaminrosenthal3989 2 года назад +2

      @@HummingbirdCyborg Exactly! I mean a sort of culture building leadership like Steph has also matters, but I'd give Steph a 10 for pulling defenders away from his teammates more than for being great to work with and inspiring the team. Chris Paul and Lebron are great playmakers, I have no problem with them being 8s, but neither can stick with a team and Lebron has destroyed multiple teams, so why would they be so high if that's your metric? When Steph or Lebron are on the court, their teammates score more and are in better positions. That's why they deserve good "leadership" numbers. When Jokic is on the court, same deal.

    For one, Giannis's leadership should be higher..
    Butler's offense and leadership need to be higher.
    Luka's defense is absolutely atrocious. 5 is way too much. Curry should get a 5 in defense, Luka like 3. His offense a bit higher at 9 though.
    Durant's defense should be at like 6.
    I think Embiid shouldn't be getting a 9 in offense, and his leadership could be like 5.5 or 6.
    Kyrie should also be bumped down a bit on offense.
    LeBron's leadership is a 10 no question.
    Jokic should get a 10 in offense, his defense should be a solid 5, and leadership 8. I think you messed up Jokic a bit.
    Ja is probably a 7.5 on offense, but his defense is atrocious. Just because he's athletic and has some highlights doesn't mean he's a good defender. I'd give him a 3 at the most on defense.
    Kawhi 9 on defense, and 7.5 on offense, and like 5 on leadership. He's inconsistent but he can take over for sure.
    CP3's defense should be WAY higher than 2. He doesn't provide much stopping anymore, but in his prime he was a consistent All-Defensive team guy. I'd give him a 4 or 5. And leadership like 9.
    You're way overrating Tatum. Offense... we saw him get exposed in the Finals. 7 is fine. Defense at 7.5 is fine. And leadership should be like 5. JB was the leader in the Finals, not JT
    Siakam isn't overrated. He should be a 6, 6.5, and 6.5.
    KAT gets a 8 on offense, 4 on defense.
    Zion should get like a 7.5 on offense and a 5 on defense.
    Trae should be about 8.5 on offense, and 7 on leadership

But leadership is very questionable even in miami heat. Dwade was the leader and when he walks out without finishing the game (in cleveland) and trading anyone during the season that will not help him win the basketball shows that HE WANTS CAPABLE GUYS ALREADY but does not help them elevate their game to match his. When I say elite, i don't mean elite in terms of the Draymond level... No!! He's size and built does not allow him to do that... but in terms of guarding others aside from bigs or centres, he has done excellently well...
      Most teams in the play offs lost because they thought they could target at him in the playoffs and what they met wasn't what they bargained for... Denver, Mavs and Celtic tried attacking him and each time they do, Curry gave them a shocker. At certain point, designed play were altered cos they never expected Curry to defend that much...
      It's analyst that doesn't want to put Curry on the goat convo that brings up defense as his weakness... Curry had always been a good defender I could remember in 2018 finals when LeBron was attacking him but each time he does, Curry always had a better of him. But curry mesmerized Bron when Bron tried guarding him...
      I'm still in awe how this analyst and media persona make Curry look bad defensively when in actual fact Curry has been so Good!!!
      How can you call a player that is high in steal and rebound a bad defender... not the padded score like those of the Westbrook stats but on real work stats...

    Love the content, mate! Keep it up.
    We only saw a small sample size, but the amount of points Zion gave up in the post made every opponent at hall of fame scoring pace. Zion is a sorry defender who produces highlight blocks when he's not the primary defender.
    Steph Curry isn't as much a liability on defense as has been advertised. He ain't making an all-defensive team, but he holds his own every single year in the playoffs. He gets targeted because he has some crazy good defenders surrounding him and the opponent desperately needs him to have no legs or he will be making jumpers deep in the game.
    Lebron hasn't made an all defensive team in a decade. He is infamous for taking plays off on defense. I think his defense is overrated and now his age is showing.
    Tatum's leadership score should have tanked after what we saw in the finals. He was disengaged and tunneled on his own game. He didn't make others around him better.
    KD's leadership is overrated. Where exactly has he gone where the locker room had less drama? Its the opposite. He adds more distractions than positive vibes.
    I might give Jokic a bit of a bump in leadership. The way he gets his team involved, his sneaky good charisma, and his low ego makes his team play better.
    I'd give Embiid a bump in defense, but not much.

    If we're going to rank these categories on a scale of 1-10, a five should be neutral, no net positive or negative. Six or greater should be a positive, and four or less a liability.
    Curry is absolutely not a liability on defense, hasn't been for years. At worst he's neutral, but there's an argument to be made that he's a net positive. Not a major net positive, but net positive all the same.
    Luka and Ja, on the other hand, are both liabilities on defense, and it's hard to say which one is worse. Luke uses defensive possessions to rest, but at least he has size, and thus potential if he gets into better shape. He is also motivated to improve after the Warriors exposed him in the WCF. Ja is a joke on defense, don't let the occasional highlight reel play fool you, and he's not self-aware enough to be motivated to improve. He needs a few more early exits to light a fire under his ass, but I doubt even then that defense will fall within his wheelhouse.
    Lebron is a 10 on offense - if he's not scoring, he's setting his teammates up to score. He's also a solid defender, but no longer gives a rip about the regular season and doesn't put in the effort most games. My only concern about his defense is if he can crank it back up for an entire post-season run, or if he'll get gassed from the extra effort after a series or two.
    KD is a 10 offense, he just had a bad series against the Celtics. However, the entirety of the dumpster fire that is Brooklyn rests squarely on KD's shoulders, including Kyrie's refusal to get vaccinated, or even play the gd game. KD is the de facto leader of that team, and he's shite at it. I wouldn't even give him a 1 except your scale doesn't go to zero, so . . .

    • @blackjacktrial
      @blackjacktrial 2 года назад

      I've never heard Curry or LeBron are great off court leaders either, and MJ was flat out bad. Usually you want your 3rd or 4th best guy to be the leader, so that the best guy can be just that.
      You want Draymond being the team captain, CP3 at this stage of his career, or Marcus Smart. Philly dropped when Jimmy left. The Bucks probably live or die on Jrue being a leader.
      To rephrase Chuck: You need three types on a championship bus - the bus (the superstar), the driver and conductor (the coach and the captain), and the riders.
      Curry, Giannis and Tatum are buses. Smart, Dray and Jrue are drivers with good conductors in Kerr, Bud and Udoka-Stevens. And the passengers are good too (and have to pitch in on the trip too).

The reason why luka lost to the warriors was because his team had way less depth than the warriors who have curry and klay thompson, wiggins and poole who are all star level players (not to mention draymond green and kevon looney who are also key players) while the luka didnt really have much help aside from jalen brunson and spencer dinwiddie who arent really as good as thompson wiggins and poole. Also Luka literally had better stats than curry averaging 32 points, 9 reb, and 6 assists a game in that series while curry averaged 24 pts, 7 reb and 7 assists. Also, luka even had a higher gamescore than butler and curry whith a gamescore of 22.9 while curry had a gamescore of 18.9 and butler had a gamescore of 22 (in the eastern conference finals) so, clearly luka is also a different animal in the playoffs and not just butler or curry. I mean, he literally carried the mavs to the western conference finals. @@kingcort8073 I'd personally put Curry at 10/5/10. He's the most impactful player in the game on offense because of the way the other team has to guard him everywhere on the floor, regardless of whether he has the ball or not. If you don't do that he torches you, but if you commit enough to defending him then he'll let his teammates torch you. That also ties into his leadership some. I think I'd put Giannis at something like 9/9/7, which actually happens to tie him with the numbers I just gave Curry. Giannis is very impactful on both offense and defense, but he doesn't change the entire dynamic of the game on either end the same way that Curry does on offense. His leadership is solid, but he hasn't shown anywhere near the ability to elevate and unite a team like Curry, LBJ, or CP3 can. He is good enough on both ends of the court to elevate the Bucks to contender status almost by himself, but he hasn't proven able to find a consistent answer to opponents focusing their entire series plan on him yet.
      If I had to pick one guy to build a 2023 NBA team around, Curry would be my first choice. That said, Giannis is SO close behind that I certainly don't blame you if you'd take him instead.

    This list is hogwash. Morant better at defense than Luka? Luka was around 1.5 defence rating while Morant was at the negatives, but it doesn't matter this video is to bolster Curry which is also complete nonsense. Have we forgotten that Luka had zero I repeat zero all-star in his roster, took the Mavs to west conference finals and yet he got a score of 7 in leadership? In what way did Curry elevate his teammates? Last I looked he got carried at the regular season by the young guys. Sure playoffs is where it matters but to me best player should be best at most if not all categories and Curry didn't show that last season. This is a Stephen Curry jerk off video. Unbelievable.

  • @kelleyeidem667

    The best player is the one who FORCES defenders out of position so that they cannot defend effectively. Curry is that guy because he has so many ways to force defenders to be out of position on himself but also on his teammates which allows them to make easy buckets. Sometimes this discombobulates the other players or the whole team causing them to lose focus. As an added factor Curry's constant movements can fatigue his opponents which is a good way to lower their shooting percentage.

He always find ways to elevate his team mates unlike the other guys like Morant who always hold the ball for the longest time. Curry wants his team mates to shine like him. He is the salt and light to his team. Go Steph..

  • @adrianjohnson1155
    @adrianjohnson1155 2 года назад +1

    It's a discussion. Honestly, Steph could be a defensive liability if it weren't for the others being locked in most of the time. Every team tries to take advantage of mismatches on Steph but nobody's been able to execute consistently. I can't agree simply because I'm not sure if Steph would be as deadly offensively on another team and in another system. He might be, but we will probably never know.
    Okay, I was convinced by the end of this video. The thing I liked most about Kobe, who is my GOAT, was his work ethic. I don't think there is anyone in the league who works harder than Steph. That seals the deal for me.

Judging him for one failed(questionable) Orlando bubble championship but forgetting curry’s leadership during their 3-1 choke in the NBA FINALS is flawed. Apart from kawhis injuries dude performed at the highest level against curry and lebron and giannis. Kawhi is easily top 3 if not the best in the NBA.

    Steph's defense has improved to about 7 this past year. Add to the physical coverage how he tires the opposition out and dispirits their play all of which has an effect on their shooting percentage. How do we meaure it? Well, it has to be counted as part of the reason that the Celtics scored less than 100 points in all four of their losses in the Finals.

    Hot take. Steph's leadership is not a 10. He's a fine leader, but Draymond should be credited for leading and lifting up the other players on the team, more than Steph. If Steph was such a great leader, what in the world would they need Draymond for? He would be overpaid for someone who is just a good defender and offers no offense.

    Giannis offense at 8? id at least give it a 9 or 9.5 considering he averaged 29.9 ppg and 5.8 apg, better offensive stats than curry's 25.5 ppg and 6.3 apg. while giannis does lack a consistent 3pt shot, it is somewhat made up for by the fact that when he drives into the paint, he can often find an open man after 3 defenders collapse onto him to stop him from scoring in the paint.
    Giannis leadership at 5.5? i mean, you gave 0 reasoning for any of your leadership scores so i don't even know what this is based off of. but id give him between 7-9 at least, so 8.
    imo giannis wins here but thats just me

  • @jmacalangi
    @jmacalangi 2 года назад +1

    Yeah, Curry is actually an above-average defender, contrary to popular belief. Much like Green, he also directs people during the game when playing defense. So, I'm not even sure how you would give the guy a 4 on defense. I hope he watches this. Zion at 16.5 is probably too generous considering his lack of discipline, nonexistent leadership, and that we don't even know if he can still play at the same level.
