Listening to all the movements, aside from the legendary minuet, really makes this an extremely wholesome and beautiful experience. So few artists today are able to create intricate harmonies, ornaments, and other musical elements like the baroque/classical period style.
One of my favorites too. I've bought nearly every Boccherini quintet and quartet I can find, but I know there are many more. Can't seem to get enough of Boccherini!
gerundive look up his string trios, too. I am a cellist, and I have played many of his string trio's, for cello and two violins, or violin and viola, and I was delighted with each of them every single time, and I played them many many times when I was playing weddings. They are marvelous music and I love them.
Trios, quartets, sonatas, even an octet. I love everything by Luigi Boccherini. I have often heard his music called "Aristocratic Party Music". He always seemed to capture a joyous sound.
I adore this piece and have done since I was a small child, it never fails to calm me down, esp during exams!!! Thank you @Gerundive for uploading this amazing masterpiece! ❤ ..
Shrish J. Yes--I have 9 or 10 of their quintet collections--the most played of my 30 or so Boccherini CDs--except for the Sonare Quartet's Opus 2 Quartets, which are my favorites.
I learned of Boccerini after watching Master and Commander in 2003 multiple times in the theater and many times after...it was my Dad's favorite movie of all time (He read all of the Aubrey Novels, as have I). When I listen to this music, it's like Dad is in the room with me. Lost him to this existence on November's 13, 2022 at 79, after fighting cancer for 8 years. He was himself until the end, and we watched Master and Commander and listened to the amazing music 4 days before he passed, with myself, my wife, my Mom (His soulmate of 60 years), and his Grandsons. I miss him. But music is better than pictures for memory. He's listening with me right now.
Thank you for posting the whole piece. You're the only one. 👍
I. Amoroso - 0:00
II. Allegro e con spirito - 4:49
III. Minuetto, trio - 12:55
IV. Rondeau, andante - 16:08
Thank you.
Wish I could travel back in time listening to this personally. 5 stars for me.

This may be my favorite Boccherini quintets. It's harmonically very simple but I just keep coming back to it.
Thanks for sharing!

Boccherini, I imagine, can be challenging for a cellist, but heavenly as well. I've heard some of his trios, and nearly everything I can find.

12:52 perhaps the most famous movement. Where have I heard it used as a soundtrack or jingle?
Master and Commander
The Ladykillers
Beautiful version!
La Magnifica Comunità--they've recorded an entire series of Boccherini quintets, and do it quite well!
They have? I can see that they do a good job.

Boccherini, a most overlooked composer by "Classical" music radio stations. Along with Telemann etc. Don't get me started...
Bravo guys ❤❤
Amazing
A truly brilliant version of the famous "Minuet" from these players.......
4:50 II Allegro e con spirito
This is in Eb major.
Really shows the big difference of historically informed playing to "standard" versions.
12:55 pulls out powdered wig and silver fork 🧐
is this the smithson players?
+Daniel Elyar No--it is La Magnifica Comunità. They have a superb collection of Boccherini Quintets published, and I've bought every one I could find.

this recording is too quiet

I can hear the players breathing on my headphones, a bit distracting
