I get so emotional hearing the themes for the N64 and Wii rainbow road themes as it reminds me of gaming with my older brother when I was a kid, some of my favourite memories. Seeing them re-done in such an incredible way in Mario Kart 8, I cried.
Well since I've seen some people do it, I might as well give my rating on all of these as well. 00:00 Will always be a classic. While it's far from my favorite one of them all, I think it still earns itself a 7.5/10. 01:50 I'll let my childhood nostalgia talk for this one. Mario Kart 64 was my introduction to the franchise, and while I agree the course itself is kind of boring because of how long it goes on, the music still makes it worth driving on due to how absolutely whimsical and magical it truly makes it feel. 9/10. 06:30 While it doesn't feel as magical as the N64 one does, it still evokes that feeling of it being the finale through a cheerful and still whimsical tune befitting a rainbow road. 8/10. 09:29 It doesn't sound bad per se, but it doesn't have the same charm as the original, although that's due to the hardware limitations of the GBA. It still sounds decent. 5/10. 11:26 This one took me a while to warm up to, and while I'm still not a big fan of it, I like the N64 Rainbow Road leitmotif that was sprinkled in there. 6.5/10. 14:17 Even with the hardware limitations of the DS, they really made excellent use of its soundfont with that one, resulting in an upbeat and magical track to remember. 9/10. 18:39 For a while, this one has been my favorite. It just sounds so whimsical, upbeat and mystical, I even love the sounds of shooting stars that make this piece truly beautiful. 9.5/10. 21:32 And the Moon version have become my new favorite for a while (until Wave 6 of the BCP). It truly feels like a final journey, a final race to end the grand prix on a high note. It sounds more... "spacey", is a way I'd put it, which makes sense with the track's theming while still retaining the mystique and whimsical sound that has become a common attribute of Rainbow Road music. I also love how the N64 Rainbow Road leitmotif was integrated here. 10/10. 29:18 Not much to say there I didn't already mention about the original track from the SNES, aside from the fact its sounds are higher quality now, which make it a bit better. 8/10. 31:16 Just like the racetrack itself, it definitely is quite a bit different from the rainbow roads we had before, and while I'm not a fan of the racetrack itself, I do admit the music still works really well with its spaceship theme while still having it sound magical in equal measure. 8/10. 33:41 As much as I like the original N64 rendition, this version sadly doesn't have the same impact on me as the original. That said, it does fit its redesign and Mario Kart 8 as a whole quite well, and as a track itself still sounds nice to listen to. 8/10. 35:59 Is a beautiful modernization of the original. I'm amazed by how it feels like an entirely new piece, yet it still maintains the retro aspect of the original. Easily my favorite rendition of SNES Rainbow Road. 9/10. 37:53 I have... mixed feelings about this one. It still has a lot of the aspects that made 3DS Rainbow Road so beautiful, yet it doesn't evoke that same mystical feeling as much as I hoped it would, but I can't really say that's a bad thing. It sounds more upbeat, which I suppose does fit better for a racetrack. 8/10. 45:04 I was in complete disbelief the moment I first heard this track. The Wii version was already very beautiful, but they managed to knock it out of the park with this one. The instrumentation, the added background melodies and the much crisper sound just make this one hell of a masterpiece and a perfect track to end the Booster Course Pass with. 11/10.
I love how mkds and mk Wii themes are just remixes of mk double dash whilst mk7s remix is more of a remix of N64s If I had to pick which is my fave tho. MKDS hits closest to home cos I grew up with it. But mk8dx’s mk Wii version is my fave with mk8s theme second. 45:28 almost always makes me wanna cry LOL
Picking an aspect or two from every theme makes for a really nice theme as evidenced by the many remixes and medleys. But on their own, they're still beautiful in their own way.
Why am I crying because from amazing music of a multicolored road in a racing game? All of the Rainbow roads are amazing. Even though I grown up with Mario Kart DS first, The other Rainbow Road songs bring emotions to me that I can't explain... It's probably Nostalgia.
Excellent compilation. The little stuff like the timestamps, the chronological listing, the game covers, track icons, and release years all add up to a polished final product. Even the checkboard gradient in the background is peak aesthetic.
Man all of these are so nostalgic but nothing beats the og 3ds theme. There is just something about it, gives me chills every time i listen to it. Absolutely beautiful
They ended the first half of the mk8dx dlc with Mario kart 7’s rainbow road and the. Ended the dlc with mk Wii’s rainbow road. The two best rainbow road in one game
@@janthecoo4964 I'm a fan of the original song, mostly because of the atmosphere it gives off. Really takes you back the the good ol days lol. The new remix version definitely doesnt do it juatice, however.
SMK: 8/10 - A solid track with a filthy bass and punchy drums. MK64: 9/10 - Grew up playing MK64 on the Wii thanks to my Dad, love this track every time I hear it, has that definite Rainbow Road sound to it. MKSC: 6/10 - Not as memorable but a funky track, people know this music for its intro mostly, and the track for its broken af bouncing edges. MKDD: 7/10 - Never played Double Dash but I can hear its homages to the MK64 version and that makes me happy at least MKDS: 10/10 - Totally biased but MKDS was one of my first ever games, and I played the FUCK out of this track so I have a lot of attachment to this theme. Amazing intro and the rest of the melody I can probably hum to myself I've played it that many times (also so happy it got referenced in that one Smash stage for 3DS) MKWii: 10/10 - Wow... the definitive version of Rainbow Road with one of the most iconic Mario Kart songs ever. With the grandiose-ness of the Galaxy sounding instruments, love this version to bits, star bits even... MK7: 11/10 - Maybe a bit unfair being higher than 10 but so many of these songs are bangers, 3DS is my personal fave, both the OG MK7 and BCP remix. Mesmerising and feels like it would be the end of a Mario Kart adventure let alone the end of a game. Too special
My favorite theme has to be MK8D Wii or N64, they're so close to each other, both are so incredibly magical and fun Double Dash has my favorite composition, so i can only imagine what a MK8 styled remix would have sounded like😭 Edit: the more I listen to Wii Rainbow Road the more I love it, im not a big fan of the game so I didn't get to hear it as much but omg it's so good and it has a good egg galaxy reference!! It's probably my favorite
NOTHING can beat the MKDS one, simply the best rainbow road theme. That feeling of magical and nostalgia at the same time while you hear good times that wont come back is just simply amazing.
You know what? I'm gonna do my own ranking of these songs. 0:00 7.5/10, very solid rainbow road with music that's sure to get your heart pumping in attempt to get 1st place (good luck with smk's mechanics and cpu) 1:50 10/10, this is my personal 3rd favorite rainbow road soundtrack with how ethereal it makes you feel as you take a (near 6 minute) long relatively relaxing drive through the stars, passing by neon lights of all the characters from the game (and boo for some reason) 6:30 6/10, if it weren't for 7:15 - 7:40 going on too long, I'd give it a 7/10. But other than that this song's pretty alright. 9:29 5/10, this song got bit-crunched pretty badly but it could easily be far worse. 11:26 8.5/10, incredibly enjoyable song that fills you with excitement from beginning to end, and i especially love the n64 rr leitmotif they included in this song. 14:17 8/10 lovely song that fits well with the theme of driving though loop-de-loops and corkscrews in outer Space (seriously though, how the heck is there not a single track in mk8/mk8dx with a loop-de-loop or corkscrew despite antigravity being that games while gimmick?). 18:39 10/10, this is my 2nd favorite rainbow road soundtrack and the one I've played the most (since i lost my 3ds and copy of 7 when i was younger before finding my sister's 3ds a couple years ago). This song perfectly encapsulates what it's like to drive on a beautiful rainbow road hovering far above the earth as you trick over ramps, and fly through star rings all as the scenery fills you with magic. (And then you play on it and get mario karted to oblivion but yet you still love it) 21:32 15/10, no questions asked. This is my number 1 favorite rainbow road soundtrack out of all of them, and for good reason. This music perfectly nails that feeling of "This is the finale, you've earned it champ." as you race not just on a rainbow road, but on the rings of saturn and on the moon as well which doesn't feel out of place given that rainbow road is notorious for taking place in outer space. This was my first ever rainbow road, and despite the fact that i lost my 3ds for several years before finding my sister's and finally getting the game again last year, 3DS rainbow road is, in my humble opinion, the peak of rainbow road. (Also i don't understand why people hate this track and think it's overrated, which it isn't. If any rr was overrated I'd say Wii despite how much i also love that iteration). 25:25 15/10, when you get to the moon on 3DS rainbow road and hear the music become more somber, that's one of the best moments in all of Mario Kart imo. 29:18 7.8, love how they emphasized the drumbeat a bit more in this version and kinda "cleaned" up the song so its not as compressed. 31:16 7/10, despite the fact that the track itself is a pretty big downgrade from 7's, I still enjoy the music a lot as it matches the space station theme Nintendo tried going for (which i kinda appreciate the fact they tried doing something different even if it failed in the end). 33:41 9.5/10, while i prefer how ethereal the original sounded, I still really love how grand this version of the song is, especially with the whole new years kind of vibe the track gives off. 35:59 7/10, still great music, but i honestly kind of prefer the higher pitched, almost kinda whiny sound the original has. Regardless, still great music. 37:53 10/10, still an incredibly majestic soundtrack but not nearly as much as the version from 7. 41:29 10/10, same as the normal version of the soundtrack. 45:04 10/10, incredibly great soundtrack, perfect way to bring back one of the best rainbow road soundtracks in the franchise (plus you can enjoy it more since you don't fall off nearly as much). One of the best ways they could've ended the BCP.
37:55 The year number is supposed to say 2022, since the remake of 3DS Rainbow Road came out of late 2022, Same of the Wii Rainbow Road but it should have said 2023 and not 2017
Mario Kart Will’s rainbow road never fails to make me tear up. Yeah maybe I’ve played DS too, but the Wii one was my fave at the time, and it still is. To say that I was excited for the remake in mario kart 8 is an understatement. I love the OG and the remix
My rankings of all rainbow road themes except the moon themes since they’re in the same track also 9-1 were hard to rank imo XD Keep in mind these are my opinions so if u disagree that’s totally ok just no hate 14. SNES super circuit (tho I understand the hardware god my ears) 13. Super circuit (nothing special to it at all) 12. Double dash (does it’s job really well but mediocre compared to the others) 11. DS (hang on a minute we’re actually getting there! Love the SNES bass in it but again not too special) 10. 64 (very calm finale and which I very much enjoy) 9. 8 (love the guitar and it sounds pretty dam good, and the techno bits make it more unique) 8. Super Mario kart (fantastic bass and really fits the game) 7. SNES 7 (even better with the fantastic drums which makes this one a good beat) 6. 7 (just an absolutely magical feeling when u hear this plus the moon segments make it stand out more) 5. 3DS 8 (literally the last but even better like I almost have no words) 4. Wii (u know shit is getting SERIOUS with this one with the faster pace and the Mario galaxy refrences in here) 3. Wii 8 (I don’t even need to say it) 2. 64 8 (64 it was even more energetic and more hyped up like it should! This is an incredible one) 1. SNES 8 (my personal favorite because of the beat but also how much of a finale this one feels like and it’s techno bits again work perfectly, it just feels magical!)

Something I love is that a part of 64's Rainbow Road is audible in Double Dash's, 7's, and 8's themes
And it's the best part too. The musical callbacks don't sound quite as hopeful, but in the context of their own pieces, they are still electrifying.

@@reversedizzythebackwardsth7800it is a road that you drive
Adding the Wii U box art on the MK8 rainbow road is such a cool thing to do. :D
MK8 Wii U bros where you at

I never understood why they gave Mario extra cake on the cover art 😂

Man all of these are so nostalgic but nothing beats the og 3ds theme. There is just something about it, gives me chills every time i listen to it. Absolutely beautiful
Especially the dynamic change from the regular version to the moon version and back! Love that
@@TrueGinjaNinjaGamerAbsolutely. Pure art at it's finest
They ended the first half of the mk8dx dlc with Mario kart 7’s rainbow road and the. Ended the dlc with mk Wii’s rainbow road. The two best rainbow road in one game
Mk 7 rainbow road song sucks ass. No idea why people like it... Let alone like it more than every other rainbow road theme
@@janthecoo4964 I'm a fan of the original song, mostly because of the atmosphere it gives off. Really takes you back the the good ol days lol. The new remix version definitely doesnt do it juatice, however.
Mario kart 7 has the best rainbow road. Nothing will convince me otherwise
MKDD: 7/10 - Never played Double Dash but I can hear its homages to the MK64 version and that makes me happy at least
MKDS: 10/10 - Totally biased but MKDS was one of my first ever games, and I played the FUCK out of this track so I have a lot of attachment to this theme. Amazing intro and the rest of the melody I can probably hum to myself I've played it that many times (also so happy it got referenced in that one Smash stage for 3DS)
MKWii: 10/10 - Wow... the definitive version of Rainbow Road with one of the most iconic Mario Kart songs ever.
Too special
no MK8?
My favorite theme has to be MK8D Wii or N64, they're so close to each other, both are so incredibly magical and fun
Double Dash has my favorite composition, so i can only imagine what a MK8 styled remix would have sounded like😭
Edit: the more I listen to Wii Rainbow Road the more I love it, im not a big fan of the game so I didn't get to hear it as much but omg it's so good and it has a good egg galaxy reference!! It's probably my favorite
NOTHING can beat the MKDS one, simply the best rainbow road theme. That feeling of magical and nostalgia at the same time while you hear good times that wont come back is just simply amazing.
All good but nothing can beat N64 Rainbow Road theme.. Which is always be my fav since childhood.. 🤩
Not even this one?: 21:33
2003.....that was like 2 years ago wasn't it? It's these onions seee???? 😭
The snes is the most nostalgic for me, the mk of my childhood. But the 64 can't be matched, it's beautifully constructed, and so influential too
21:32 is by far the best one
Wtf you say 21:34 this better
You know what? I'm gonna do my own ranking of these songs.
0:00 7.5/10, very solid rainbow road with music that's sure to get your heart pumping in attempt to get 1st place (good luck with smk's mechanics and cpu)
1:50 10/10, this is my personal 3rd favorite rainbow road soundtrack with how ethereal it makes you feel as you take a (near 6 minute) long relatively relaxing drive through the stars, passing by neon lights of all the characters from the game (and boo for some reason)
6:30 6/10, if it weren't for 7:15 - 7:40 going on too long, I'd give it a 7/10.
(And then you play on it and get mario karted to oblivion but yet you still love it)
21:32 15/10, no questions asked.
37:55 The year number is supposed to say 2022, since the remake of 3DS Rainbow Road came out of late 2022, Same of the Wii Rainbow Road but it should have said 2023 and not 2017
Your right for the track! but the Year is for the game release and not the track... can be a bit confusing
MK Wii and 7 rainbow roads are the best for me. Grew up with both consoles. Same with the DS lol
Double dash combines both n64 and snea. Absolutely lovely.
The Wii rainbow road on spiny cup is the best
31:47 Pure heaven to my ears
The original N64 Rainbow Road will always be the best imo. 🌈 ❤
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's N64 Rainbow is the biggest glow up of all times. No wonders why it's on its cover art.
mk7 rainbow road is honestly one of my top 10 video game songs of all time
I really want to play the SMK rainbow road music and then switch to 36:06 at the beat drop
Rainbow Road has good themes.
I have to go with Wii’s Rainbow Road theme. That was my childhood Rainbow Road right there.
Mario Kart DD, Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart 7 Special Cup Rainbow Roads are my favourites ❤
I love 8's rendition of 64 but f-zero x's is so peak
Bopping to this
Drifting to this
I was really thinking you were gonna play the movie version as well.
The movie version is SNES
double dash and 7 was really just slapping on a remix of the n64 version huh?
Mario Kart Will’s rainbow road never fails to make me tear up. Yeah maybe I’ve played DS too, but the Wii one was my fave at the time, and it still is. To say that I was excited for the remake in mario kart 8 is an understatement. I love the OG and the remix
Rainbow Road = Peak
18:39 definitivamente esta es la mejor versión de rainbow road❤❤❤
I didn't even grow up with Mario Kart 64 and it still feels nostalgic.
Double Dash is fire 🔥 the best one!
My favorites are the SNES, N64, DS, 3DS, and 8/8 DX. What are your favorites? (How did I forget about the N64?!)
I grown up with the n64 so i think it's my favorite one! but i like pretty much all of them!
18:39 here was I start playing MarioKart when I was child🥲
Mario Kart 64 was my favourite
Mario kart 64 theme is the best ❤
Listening to the original SNES Rainbow Road and then the 8/Deluxe SNES Rainbow Road goes so hard
That thumbnail will be Mario Kart 30
My favorite one is the Wii version. Still remember how often I fall while in that track 😂😂😂
gamecube rainbow road is far and away the best map and soundtrack
My rankings of all rainbow road themes except the moon themes since they’re in the same track also 9-1 were hard to rank imo XD
Keep in mind these are my opinions so if u disagree that’s totally ok just no hate
14. SNES super circuit (tho I understand the hardware god my ears)
13. Super circuit (nothing special to it at all)
12. Double dash (does it’s job really well but mediocre compared to the others)
11. DS (hang on a minute we’re actually getting there! Love the SNES bass in it but again not too special)
10. 64 (very calm finale and which I very much enjoy)
9. 8 (love the guitar and it sounds pretty dam good, and the techno bits make it more unique)
8. Super Mario kart (fantastic bass and really fits the game)
7. SNES 7 (even better with the fantastic drums which makes this one a good beat)
6. 7 (just an absolutely magical feeling when u hear this plus the moon segments make it stand out more)
5. 3DS 8 (literally the last but even better like I almost have no words)
4. Wii (u know shit is getting SERIOUS with this one with the faster pace and the Mario galaxy refrences in here)
3. Wii 8 (I don’t even need to say it)
2. 64 8 (64 it was even more energetic and more hyped up like it should! This is an incredible one)
1. SNES 8 (my personal favorite because of the beat but also how much of a finale this one feels like and it’s techno bits again work perfectly, it just feels magical!)
My only issue with SNES 8 is that it removed the cymbals from snes 7 with the beat drop
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Rainbow Road (Wii)
That one... It's the best! 🌟
Mario cart 7 was my favorite DS game, but I genuinely don’t remember the song
Super circuits rendition sounds like its at low energy
The N64 version feels a lot more magical in comparison with SNES. MK64, MK7, and MK8 are all great. The F-Zero X version is also amazing.
Double dash a vibe fr
I grew up with the n64
The SNES brings nostalgia and PTSD
Not gonna lie
Super Mario Kart one Hits hard
On mk7 the filter is on jiggle your phone

SNES rainbow music is personally my favorite
The best one is the MK7 original, but barely :)

@@WritingCountingOriginal Actually not sure w/ the rainbow roads in Tour. I know Riverside Park for an example has its own Tour Ver. which is different to the original GBA and 8D. Tho when I listened to Tour's Rainbow Roads, they are maybe the same to their counterpart? Not sure but I may have spoken out of turn. I know there are Wii, 3DS, and SNES Rainbow Roads in Tour.
