    Only a handful or producers today have a trademark style, you can tell it's an Al beat when you hear it. No tag no nothing.

    Its crazy each phase of his career starting in 1999 I vividly remember. I was 14 then. I am 35 now. Literally grew up on Alchemist. From 99 til now there isn’t a production credit Im not aware of!

      Kool Keith may drop a lot of subpar albums these days, but imo he’s the GOAT emcee ! He can literally rap about anything and he’s never scared to drop real freestyles (no writtens) at any time. I seen him open up a show freestyling..who does that ? plus despite the subpar albums at least he stays dropping material and he has mad classics under his belt !

    But anyway, I hope the younger generation discovering now goes back through his history. Its amazing. But also I hope they see that Alchemist has always carried himself as an adult. Humbly. That last thing is admirable imo. Like DOOM he's never been about the image or putting all his business out there
    Just passion for music and focusing on being a good person. Respect.

    I remember me and the guys BUMPING ALC's 1st Infantry debut album up and down the block here in the city of Chicago in 2004.
    And before the debut, I was already heavy into him. It's been a blessing to see this brother grow throughout the years - and youtube made it possible every step of the way.

    Great doc here, ALC is one of my biggest influences and it's so great to hear about his journey as a producer, his sonic trademarks and cultivating his legendary catalog. Uncle Al is the GOAT imo

    i’m 19 currently and i love hip hop during the years of 2015-18 which was end of 5th grade and the whole of middle school were the years of the whole soundcloud rap era. i was /still obsessed with 90s hip hop n also obsessed with the coles kendrick’s kanye’s and tyler’s although some soundcloud rap was good wasn’t something i wasn’t bumping on the regular it wasn’t until the beginning of my senior year of high school 2021-2022 i saw the PFP Album cover n heard some tracks heard George Bondo then 500 ounces looked at this song credits and was obsessed because the sound was something I was familiar with, but knew in a way and ever since then I was a fan alchemist is a 🐐

    great video! I have one criticism though; I think it's best if you display an image of the album / record you're talking about as opposed to another, or even play a segment of the track (though perhaps copyright limitations impede this). Personally, I like to go listen to the tracks or parts of the albums when watching a video like this if they're not included and it's easier if the image and commentary match up. Wasn't a problem all the time, just my thoughts :)

    Bro I have been an alchemist fan forever, and to this day I still can not figure out how he gets his snares to have that POP to them...What I mean is like the snare on Dilated Peoples - Guaranteed or Prodigy - Stuck To U...Just the way he makes the snares sound alone, is a huge talking point. Maybe one of you is an audio engineer who can reverse engineer it and explain?

    This is what I miss about golden era hip hop- when producers were working with artists as different as Jadakiss and Dilated Peoples. At that time those there was a big difference between over and underground as well as east and west coast.

    Its not a drawback that he was working with what were legacy artists at that point.. I think to site that even as a possible negative is backwards..if you ask al himself id imagine that those are the people he really wanted to work with..thats the music he intentionally made
