I re-wired my '61 bus with a harness from WireWorld, and l'm so glad l did. The wires all are color-coded so they replace the original wiring EXACTLY. Now, everything works exactly as it should. No more chasing electric gremlins! The old wires were stiff and very brittle and had TONS of resistance. So happy l did it.
A lot of work and a lot lot more patience!!! Great video.
Thanks for this video. My 73 bus needs to be rewired, and this convinced me to get the rebel kit.
Thanks. I've always wondered how they install the wiring harness in the beetles and Superbugs.
super nice install
Thank you!
hey! I just got a 63 beetle and I'll have to redo the wiring. What wire set is the one you used called? and how do I find it? your link doesn't work anymore sadly.
Hey there, how. Did you wire the starter? Did you run the red + to the starter and then have another connection from starter to the battery + post?
Hello 👋 Rebel is the Best! Awesome People! Mine is Rebel Built ✌️❤️✅
Family Owned American Made 👍 custom to my car🤩Quality!
Did u have to wire the master cylinder
You just want to install mine 😅
Absolutely!
My car is my daily driver. Is there a way to wire it a little at a time. Switching from old to new in small chunks? so it can be done on a few weekends? So it will still function?
Honestly no.
There is a risk to safety in doing that both to you and other drivers.
This harness requires a full installation as it functions differently from the OG equipped harness.
I must have missed it, but what year is your bug? I'm currently rewiring my 73.
Is there room for expansion? Say someone wanted to install a modern engine, would there be enough “room” to do so?
Yes.
There are a few spots that can be easily used for expansion.
For example.
There is a fan circuit that could be used for ECM power.
Did you pull all the old wiring harness out before you started
Yes.
Here’s the video of the removal.

You should put the wires in a plastic tube!
That's great. Where can I order one

@@chaseperformance4538 Chase performance. Thank you... I want to show you what I did with my 1954 Chevy truck aka Ol' Beater...gauges. gutted them. Made a 16 gage adapter. Installed after market speedometer, and Tachometer.. how can I send you pictures?
what exact wiring kit are you using?

The one we used on this car is the Beetle Deluxe kit on this page.
@@chaseperformance4538 thanks
How many hours did it take to complete the whole thing?
It’s hard to calculate the total hours it took with this specific installation since I was unable to devote time to the car in a timely fashion. I can tell you from previous installs that I’ve done with this harness that it took me around 4 days total.
My last rebel installation was on my 70 Westy. I drove the bus into the garage on a Saturday, had it totally stripped in a day, and had the new harness installed and completed by the following Sunday. I worked on it over two weekends.
For someone who is learning and has almost no knowledge on things like this.how would I figure out where each wire goes? Is there instructions you can find?
Yes.
The instructions are very thorough and Rebel is VERY responsive to emails!
I’m having trouble with the brown and white column wire (dimmer relay) can’t figure out how to install on rebel harness @chaseperformance4538
